Description:
Welcome to Surviving Medicine, the podcast that takes you into the mind of the best and brightest premedical and medical students, residents and physicians discussing where Medical Education is today and the future of healthcare tomorrow.
Each week we bring you an inside look at how to survive medical education and how to thrive as a practicing physician balancing work, patients, family and friends.
My name is Frank Cusimano, your host, a third-year medical student and third year PhD student – with a passion for anything health, wellness, medical education, and healthcare related.
Before we begin, I want to take a moment to thank you, our listeners, for listening in and providing feedback. If you have not already make sure you subscribe to the podcast on The ITunes App and leave a review.
So today we I have a special treat planned. While the majority of our podcasts will be interviews, we want to make sure we give you all the tools you need to excel and thrive either as a premedical student or as a resident navigating board certifications, etc. About every 5 episodes we will be doing an episode that focuses on one aspect of medicine where we give tips, pointers, advice, and motivation to make sure you all get the most out of this podcast! I personally will be recording most of these episodes, but don’t worry, for those who are looking for advice for residency or as a physician, I will be calling on the experts for their direct input. That may be in the form of them doing the podcast that episode or it may be in the form of they write or record their advice and we organize it and record it for you!
These episodes I think will be the most beneficial for all of you out there who are trying to stay sane and for all of you who are struggling to survive medicine.
So today we have a special episode for all of you Premed Students out there! This entire episode is going to be about the premed process and some of the tips I give every student who is planning to apply to medical school.
For all of our medical students, residents and physicians listening, this will be stuff you already know or that may not be as relevant to you anymore! Seeing as I know how busy you are, you can probably skip this episode without the fear that you will miss anything.
