As church leaders, we know Sunday doesn’t just happen. It takes time, energy, and resources to create programming week after week. But is what we do on Sunday the best way to set families up to win on Monday?
Today on the Think Orange Podcast, Reggie Joiner shares about his own personal experiences with reactionary versus creative action. He challenges us to flip from a Sunday to a Monday mindset. Then Jason and Hillary DeMeo, co-founders of We Are Curio, unpack how design thinking can benefit ministries everywhere.

Ideas to Influence the Next Generation
You don’t know what you don’t know. Sounds pretty obvious, right? But what if, as ministry leaders, we went into every week, every planning meeting, and every Sunday with that in mind. It would change our attitude, the programming we create, and how we show empathy to those in our churches.
This week, make it a point to learn three new things about families in your church and your community. Try hanging out a restaurant, ball game, or local nonprofit. While you’re there, have the mindset of an investigator. Or try asking a group of parents to fill in the blank to questions like, “The hardest question my kid has asked lately is ______.” and “I wish the church would talk about _______.” Even if you can’t address every problem or answer every question, you’ll have taken an important step in seeing the people around you—and the families you serve—in a new way.
Conversation Starters For Your Church
What are some key problems our ministry seeks to solve?
Who have we asked for insight into the types of programs our community needs? What methods do we have for inviting input from others outside our team?
What are the mindsets we allow to guide our decisions?
What’s our “curio”—the thing that makes us unique—that can assist us in better serving others?
