Fragmento de la transcripción de la conversación TOM: Hi and welcome back! My name’s Tom and I’m sitting here with Mark again…hi Mark! MARK: Hi Tom! TOM: Today we’re back in Park Miro…and…we’re surrounded by parrots[1]…that you might be able to hear in the background and…there’s lots of pink flowers and palm trees around us. It’s a hot day; the sun’s just come out…and we’re gonna talk all about Marriage and Divorce. This is the last in the series, so thanks for joining us. Anyway Mark, we’ll begin…can you explain what a definition is of marriage? MARK: Marriage is defined as ‘a social union or legal contract between individuals’. TOM: OK! And where did it originate – how did marriage originate? MARK: I think marriage originated when human societies began to settle[2], rather than leading ‘nomadic existences[3]’, and women were exchanged between groups to expand gene pools[4] and often to form alliances between groups. TOM: So we traded[5] women? MARK: Yes, and also there are different levels of social, economic, emotional, religious reasons for people getting married but it originated when human societies began to become more settled. TOM: OK…so now looking a little bit at…uh…marriage across cultures, what are some of the different views o…on marriage. MARK: Well most societies are based on moniga…monigamous marriage which is…between two people… TOM: “Monogamous[6]“. MARK: Monoga… TOM: Ha ha ha! No that’s alright carry on…! MARK: Normally a man and a woman, but there are other cultures where there is often one woman and several men or one man and several women which is known as polygamy[7].
