Le siguen algunas observaciones culturales de las diferentes maneras en las que la gente bebe en Inglaterra y España, ¡y por qué los británicos se emborrachan mucho más que los españoles!

TOM: Hello, my name’s Tom and I’m sitting in Miró Park[1] in Barcelona with Mark. Hi Mark!
MARK: Hi Tom!
TOM: We’re surrounded by lovely pine trees[2] and a few palm trees[3], and there’s a few little green parrots flying around, above our heads at the moment, aren’t there?
MARK: Oh yes…
TOM: And…uh…yes…today, we’re gonna[4] talk about alcohol and drugs in society…
MARK: Very good…
TOM: Uh…one of our favourite subjects, I think! Anyway, to introduce it, I’d like to talk a little bit about a statement, that a famous university professor – professor Siegel from the University of California, made – Now, he said “intoxication, using mind altering substances[5]” in other words psychoactive[6] drugs “is the fourth drive, or human instinct, after hunger, thirst and shelter[7]“. Would you agree with that?
MARK: I think so, but I’m quite surprised the instinct to reproduce wasn’t one of his classified…drives…
TOM: Yeah, he got that one a bit wrong, didn’t he? But the point is that it’s…uh…it’s a very, very strong human drive and for thousands of years, and we’ll talk about this in a minute, humans have been getting intoxicated on various things. So before we continue and talk a bit…a bit more about the history of alcohol and drugs, can we define what we mean by ‘drugs’ here please, Mark?
