This 1717 edition of Comenius' Vestibulum has been augmented by other authors - as a text it sits comfortably half way between the
Orbis Pictus and the Janua Linguarum.
It is much longer than Comenius' original Vestibulum.
To use this text effectively as a revision tool, you should have studied the Orbis Sensualium Pictus, and learned the vocabulary contained there.
There is a whole series of Latin educational texts from this time period that make use of Comenius as a foundation, providing the student with a varied diet with which to review his or her studies, and to consolidate vocabulary and basic grammatical patterns.

le before the rule" is a great principle of language learning. Viva voce methods save time, rules are grasped more quickly. Systematic use of viva voce Latin leads to rapidly gaining the required intuitive familiarity with Latin sentence construction, and the learning of correct vowel quantity from the beginning. Vocabulary is learned in a more natural way. The intention is to use the resources offered here to get good enough to actually get to think in the language, to live in it. This is the Renaissance Method.
The recorded lessons from Adler's Textbook, " A Practical Grammar of the Latin Language" form the core of the podcast. Adler's book can be downloaded for free from Google Books, who especially re-scanned this important textbook for us.

This is Comenius' first edition of the Vestibulum, read in Latin only. This was my first read through of the text, ( as found in t
he Opera Didactica Omnia 1657) so it is a bit rough and ready. This version is not as good in some ways as his second attempt, but it is still a useful text to listen to to revise basic vocabulary. The Praefatio is included.
