"Those who live in glass houses should not throw stones" is a proverb used in multiple countries. "People who live in a glass house have to answer the door," says Karl Pilkington. Of course we understand that just about everyone we know lives in a glass house. We all have opinions and love to pass judgement. Not always is it intended to be malicious; but in most instances we never think of the consequences; after all TALK IS CHEAP. What is not cheap are the unintended consequences of those words and the hurt behind them. How do we connect this to the out-of-control politically correct crowd that wants to manage every word we say? We band about words like ‘wrong’ and ‘evil’ and ‘bad’ too easily, without stopping to recognize that those we label are often full of conviction that they are operating for the highest good. We could follow this thread right through from childhood bullying, to one upmanship, to racism, homophobia, even terrorism.
