Juicing Radio Episode 168
Steven Granshaw Feels Like a Teenager Again
…and is Down 160lbs to Prove It!
Meet Steven Granshaw, a truck driver who was a type-2 diabetic, suffering from acid reflux, sleep apnea, and high blood pressure. Steven stumbled across Joe Cross’s film “Fat, Sick and Nearly Dead” one evening, just as he was about to indulge in not one, but two large stuffed-crust pizzas. Before the film was over, though, he’d ordered a juicer and was determined to change his life for good. That was November 2014. As of today, Steven is down an incredible 160 pounds and has reversed his diabetes and other health issues, all through juicing and eating clean. Shane finds out how he kept going.
Some highlights from their chat:
Finding your own trigger point – is it a health issue, an unflattering photo?
After achieving success, reconciling a desire to help others when they might not be ready to change their own lives.
Steven had doubts: would he achieve success and weight loss? Not wanting to get his hopes up, he took a ‘wait and see’ approach, but kept on juicing: “I had nothing to lose but weight and time.”
Steven’s methodical approach: how he got rid of everything in the kitchen that could derail him, does all his prep on Sunday, keeps a cooler full of juice in his truck, and plans his bathroom stops on the road (most important!) “I will not stop, nothing will stop me.”
Listen to the ecstatic voicemail Steven had from his doctor after juicing for just 2 months.
What went through his head when he met his hero, Joe Cross, having lost 114 pounds.
“They thought I was sick and had cancer.” The irony of people’s reaction to dramatic weight loss.
Steven’s advice to us all: Get past the first three days, drink water, stay busy and active, and get off social media.
Steven leaves us with this poignant thought, simple but powerful words of wisdom:
“Two things can transform your life: juicing or overeating, being healthy or unhealthy.”
