Friday, November 8, 2019-Episode 291-Bill Buell discusses his book on Schenectady’s socialist mayor, “George Lunn: The 1912 Socialist Victory in Schenectady.” Buell is Schenectady County historian and worked many years as a reporter and feature writer for the Daily Gazette.
Friday, November 15, 2019-Episode 292-Diana Waite talks about her book, “The Architecture of Downtown Troy: An Illustrated History.” Waite, who lives in Troy, served a decade as executive director of the Preservation League of New York State.
Friday, November 22, 2019-Episode 293-William Schaberg takes a detailed look at the early history of Alcoholics Anonymous in his book “Writing the Big Book: The Creation of A.A.”
Friday, November 29, 2019-Episode 294-Insights into the life of the reclusive 19th century poet are revealed in Marta McDowell’s book, “Emily Dickinson's Gardening Life.” McDowell was gardener-in-residence at the Emily Dickinson Museum in Amherst, Massachusetts, last year.
Coming in December: Kevin Wilson tells the story of his uncle who died in action in World War II in Sicily. Salvatore “Sully” Fringi was the first soldier from Granville, N.Y., to die in that war. Wilson has written a young adult historical fiction book called “Sully’s Squad.” He will do a book signing Sunday, November 10 from 2-4 p.m. at the Book House, Stuyvesant Plaza in Albany.
