Our thankful thought for today is this: When we are grateful, we have a sense of feeling closer to God. God is the source of everything we are and everything we have, thus, it is only wise that we have someone to whom we can direct our thanks. Thanks directed to the self-sufficient is of little value. All major religions of the world esteem gratitude as an important virtue. A belief in God gives rise to grateful behaviour, appreciative thoughts, and heartfelt actions in everyday life. Gratitude causes us to believe in a benevolent God, to feel connected to others, and to be less self-sufficient and more dependent on Someone who is mighty, powerful, and who can do all things.
Our quote of thanks is from Nancy Leigh DeMoss. She said, "Worship is a believer's response to God's revelation of Himself. It is expressing wonder, awe, and gratitude for the worthiness, the greatness, and the goodness of our Lord. It is the appropriate response to God's person, His provision, His power, His promises, and His plan."
Our Bible verse of thanks is Romans 1:8. It reads, "First, I thank my God through Jesus Christ for all of you, because your faith is proclaimed in all the world."
