Catechesis – Trusting Jesus in Liberia – Frs Adrian Crowley and Peter Aliu

Fr Adrian records from Liberia and is joined by Peter Aliu, a Liberian Catholic whose faith was first planted by an Irish missionary priest, Fr Charlie, at a school in Sierra Leone when Peter was eight. The episode reaches its centre in the civil war: Peter, coordinator for Médecins Sans Frontières, arrested by rebel soldiers and sentenced to execution at dawn — watching from his cell window as Fr Gary Jenkins came to bring him Communion and was beaten away — trusting only the Sacred Heart promise that he would not die without receiving.
