Episode 20 - Why black women are so damn tired.

So here we are again.... The US election didn’t end up like a lot of us wanted.
Turns out....60% of white women voted for Trump. This is even more than they did 8 years ago. I saw a LOT of white angry women on my IG and FB feed but the reality is THEY chose him. They voted him. White Supremacy runs deep.
 
Here we are again and when I say “we", it's because although I live in Canada, we are "BFF’s". We are directly affected by what our neighbours do and our politics aren’t that much better.
Our Priminister (Trudeau) is doing a horrible job. NO ONE wants him. Not even his own people and the conservative, alternative is a mini-trump so sadly, we can expect a similar outcome.
 
Last week, I posted a Tiktok video on my IG account with the caption – "This is Scary AF". It was an Asian man having dinner in a Chinese restaurant with a white nationalist. The white man said he voted for trump because if he follow through on his polocies, it will slow down the dispossession of whites in America. He also went on to say that Europeans didn’t build the land to give it away. Completely ignoring that THEY are immigrants that STOLE the land. 
So I woke up the next morning (Friday) to find this in my IG DM’s.
 
A friend of mine sent your CR retreat info to me. I was super intrigued because I love CR. I am going thru menopause and I thought it would be an amazing experience. This post completely turns me off from coming to one of your retreats. I am so perfectly sick of the constant barrage of politics and division and others telling me how it is. What is scary is that somehow this conversation between these two men defines where things are at in our society. It’s insulting,

I read it and then read it again. Then I paused because that is what my BFF said I need to do more but after validation from my BFF, this was my response.

"Am I reading this correctly? You came into a black woman’s DM’s to tell her that YOU are insulted? Guess what? I am personally sick of women like you playing the victim. My retreat is NOT for people like you. Girl, bye!👋🏽"

So, let me ask you (if you are a white woman) Why WHY do you think she thought that SHE had the right to come into my DM’s and complain that a video of a white nationalist (supremacist) was offensive to HER? Because I was speaking TO her,
 
She came AT a black woman to silence her so SHE didn’t have to feel the discomfort in her own life.
Welcome to the world of every single black, brown and racialized person. Period.
 
She is JUST AS BAD as that white nationalist or worse. At least with him, we know what we are getting. 
 
When white people are silent, it is much more dangerous because we don’t know who to trust – really trust – when the “shit hits the fan”.

We know that 60% of white women vote trump in and I am willing to bet that a (LOT) of them supported BLM and said they were allies before – yet, when push came to shove, they chose themselves.
In order to be an ally, you would understand that the entire system needs to crumble because this one we are living in only has one purpose – to serve and give white men power and those standing right beside them are, white women.
