"It's a rare kid that sails through middle school feeling like they got this all figured out." At least that's what author Jessica Speer determined after interviewing hundreds of seventh-grade students for her latest book, Middle School: Safety Goggles Advised. In this episode, I have a chance to talk to Jessica about what middle schoolers had to say were the trickiest parts of middle school. Our kids may not make it through middle school without a few tears and hurt feelings, but they'll be better equipped to navigate the common challenges faced in middle school with Jessica's book. We talk about some things that have existed since we parents were in middle school, like popularity and gossip, plus the ones we didn't have to deal with as kids, like social media.
