MikroTik routers are generally supposed to be simple to use, and a lot of them are. Routers that have been updated simply add a Mikrotik logo and the router name to the end of the router name in the router configuration utility.
Many inexpensive MikroTik routers have no user interface at all. They have a web interface that anyone can view. To protect against people who might try to set up root accounts on the routers, MikroTik also lets you set a password for this web interface that wont work without the admin account and password. I have included an image of the UI for one of these devices, but you will need to make sure you have a different brand router if you want to use the same router's web interface for your MikroTik device:
MikroTik routers have a number of other security features to protect against unauthorized use and abuse, including the ability to quickly shut down a port or address on the router or make it into a guest network that doesn’t route communications to the Internet, providing a secure network even for people who aren’t properly securing their home network. Some older models have a second port dedicated to connections for third-party-managed wireless routers. Most models have the ability to add multiple bridges that limit the devices on a network to a specific IP address. It has the ability to filter out disruptive traffic.
MikroTik routers can be used over Wi-Fi, so the devices don’t need to be connected to an Ethernet jack. However, you will want to make sure to secure the device using the built-in firewall, the ability to set up guest network, and other security features to make sure that they are providing a secure network to the devices on your network.
