With the emphasis on bringing together like-minded musical legends with slightly left of centre leanings, Ralph's podcast is about unique pairings and agenda-setting topics of conversation. The lead figure will always be a key figure from dance music: icons like Norman Cook, Pete Tong and The Black Madonna among them as well as key global artists like Cassy, Phantasy boss Erol Alkan and premiere leagues producers such as Stuart Price and Flood. They are often paired with people from the art, fashion and film worlds, or activists and collaborators close to their hearts - people who can spark ideas, debate and create great conversation. The podcast has been driven to the heart of the matter by Acetate's Ralph Moore, a journalist, A&R and manager with over two decades of industry experience under his belt. Swapping stories about being in the studio with Depeche Mode and U2 as well as reminiscing about working on the legendary album The Joshua Tree (an album that’s sold over 25million copies), Flood and Erol discuss how far music has travelled from the 80s to the present day.

Episode 5: Cassy and John White

Sitting down with her 83-year-old music teacher who fled the war before moving to London and teaching at Drama Centre, Central St Martins where he still teaches to this day as the oldest inhabitant of the school whilst also writing and directing music for a number of productions at the Royal National Theatre and the Royal Shakespeare Company.  Reunited after 20 plus years apart, they reflect on Cassy’s career and how her early classical training conflicts and also complements the dance world she now rules. Despite having not seen each other since school, it’s clear that John and Cassy’s shared respect for the art world speaks for itself.

Pete’s tour of the clubs in the late 90s and early 2000s often featured a Stuart Price track which is where the pair originally bonded, which has now developed into a mutual respect of tennis, Talk Talk and Madonna, whom Stuart produced both on tour and in the studio on ‘Confessions’.

ESPAÑOLES EN LOS 80`s En los años 1980 el rock español fue influenciado por el new wave y el punk, surgiendo un movimiento conocido como "La Movida madrileña"; este movimiento, en el que, a modo de cajón de sastre, se aglutinó a grupos no tan sólo madrileños, y no estrictamente ligados a el, se corresponde con un período de gran creatividad en la cultura popular española, a todos los niveles; mientras los grupos emergían sin cesar, y se prestaba atención, quizá por primera vez, a la escena underground, el fenómeno creativo se extendía también al cine, el cómic, la fotografía; así se relacionaron con el movimiento Cineastas como Pedro Almodóvar y fotógrafos como Alberto García-Alix. En el campo del cómic, publicaciones como Totem o Cimoc se hacían eco de la cultura del rock, potenciando su lado fantástico y onírico. La "Movida", fue muy promocionada por la administración local madrileña, en aquel momento regida por "el viejo profesor" Tierno Galván; es muy recordada su polémica frase al respecto a la apertura de un concierto; "¡Rockeros: el que no esté colocado, que se coloque... y al loro!"; asimismo se recuerda en relación a este período el programa dirigido por Lolo Rico "La Bola de Cristal", un espacio televisivo profundamente iconoclasta, vinculado a la cultura del momento y en el que aparecían haciendo cameos y celebradas actuaciones musicales artistas como Loquillo, Alaska o Juan Perro. Se pueden mencionar asimismo los locales de referencia de la "Movida", locales desaparecidos como el Rockola, o el todavía vigente "Penta", mencionado en la canción de Nacha Pop "Chica de ayer; el paso del tiempo ha acabado por mitificar estos puntos de reunión de la Movida Madrileña, y los ha hecho permanecer en la memoria colectiva como eternamente vinculados a la época que los vio nacer.
