The story of Donté Richardson, a member of Young Male Scholars. Donté takes us through the joys, hardships, successes, and failures he experienced growing up that turned him into the young man he is today. From his time living in his home state of Michigan, interests in filmmaking, writing, moving to Georgia, struggling through homelessness, Young Male Scholars, going to Japan, the journey to California, and landing jobs at a major video game company, film award show, film festivals, and so much more…all by the age of 22. The story of Lemek Robinson, a member of Young Male Scholars. Born in North Carolina but moved to Georgia young. Growing up, Lemek didn't have much but he had enough. His family moved a lot causing Lemek to make shallower and shallower connections with people. He was a kind of secluded, book reading kid. Young Male Scholars gave him a community that he never was able to build in the short term. This planted a seed of confidence in him, and his art, as well as taught him much needed social skills. The whole experience helped Lemek grow by pulling him just outside of his comfort zone and applying a safe space to be better. He joined the Robotics club, continued learning instruments, continued to write, and learned to program. After graduating, he went to Georgia Southern for 2 years before transferring to Georgia Institute of Technology and graduated in 2019 with a bachelor's of Science in Electrical Engineering. He's currently an Electronics Production Engineer at Nion. Boys are Students. Men are Teachers.
