STOP stretching & try these 4 exercises for tight hamstrings

Stretching isn't the best for tight hamstrings...❌ Instead, strengthening the hamstrings can be effective in reducing both pain and tightness!  Stretching may actually increase irritation to the muscle. Specific strengthening exercises can make your hamstrings feel flexible and mobile again.  One of the main reasons muscles become tight is due to weakness. Your body then turns to tightening the muscle to achieve stability. This is why hamstring strengthening can be incredibly effective.  Join Dr. Alyssa Kuhn, physical therapist and osteoarthritis specialist as she takes you through 4 hamstring strengthening exercises to reduce tightness, pain and injury. Choose one of these or all of them to start focusing on. The key is making sure the exercises feel good.  Follow us on social media:  Website: https://keeptheadventurealive.com Facebook: https://www.facebook.com/adventurealive Private Facebook Group: https://www.facebook.com/groups/adventurealive Instagram: https://www.instagram.com/adventurealive/ Pinterest: https://www.pinterest.com/adventurealive/_created/ Subscribe to our YouTube channel: https://www.youtube.com/alyssaadventurealive Podcast: https://osteoarthritis.buzzsprout.com Amazon store: https://amazon.com/shop/adventurealive Disclaimer: This video is for general informational purposes only. One thing you MUST know with arthritis in ANY joint...

Your entire body is connected.  The way each joint moves and how strong each is matters.  One of the biggest mistakes I see people making as a physical therapist is only focusing on the painful joint. For example, when dealing with knee pain- most people only do localized exercises for the knee- ignoring the rest of the body.  In order to be successful in pain relief, strength and mobility- you have to focus on the big picture. This episode discusses what you need to know and how to get started.  If you're ready to get started on your arthritis adventure journey,  head to the 14 day Free Trial of Adventurers for Life: https://keeptheadventurealive.com/adventurers-for-life-free-trial/ Take the next step towards your arthritis adventure journey and make pain relief possible by joining Adventurers for Life. Is Cycling Recommended for Those with Knee Osteoarthritis? What you NEED to know with Dr. Alyssa Kuhn, PT

Surprisingly enough, cycling may not be as effective as you think. But when you look at the reasoning, it begins to make sense... I recently came across a research article titled: "Stationary cycling exercise for knee osteoarthritis: A systematic review and meta-analysis" that looked into if cycling is effective at reducing certain symptoms for those with knee osteoarthritis.  It turns out, it can be helpful for pain but not so much for long term stiffness and mobility. In this episode I'll share the findings of the research as well as a strategy you can use to help fill in the gaps in terms of balance, range of motion and full body strength.  Take the next step towards your arthritis adventure journey and make pain relief possible by joining Adventurers for Life.
