Sobriety and Connection

Today’s podcast is truly an inspiration for everyone. Vincent discusses that routine and interaction tie us to community.  We challenge ourselves when we give back to the community. Failures are successes that need to be embraced.  Vincent speaks to circumstances he endured throughout his three decades of life: Hemophilia, surgeries, sexual abuse within his family, addictions to crack, gangs, robberies, three federal prison sentences, multiple addiction treatment admissions and through it all Vincent sought hope and forgiveness. A sentencing judge saw hope in Vincent and deferred a 7 year and fourth prison sentence to enable the change he wanted to make in himself. Based on his riveting book: ALL EYES ON ME; a true story of Addiction, Recovery and Hope. The post Sobriety and Connection appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.

Building Relationships With Our Kids

Vincent’s insight to building relationships with our kids discusses how kids shut down and react to our own emotions.  His belief adheres to the saying, “If you want to change the world – start with change at home”.   Kids are constantly searching for their own identity. Added to this journey are traumas of abuse and addictions that instill anger and hurt.  Vincent speaks to the fact it took him until age thirty-nine to figure out about life.  His message to parents is pointed – don’t be hard on yourself for mistakes made in life or with your kids.  It is not the mistakes that define you as a person, but your reaction.  Be persistent.  Be consistent. Based on Vincent’s autobiographical book, All Eyes On Me, A True Story of Addiction, Recovery and Hope, a raw and honest memoir about the strength of the human spirit.  Available on Amazon.com The post Building Relationships With Our Kids appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.

Supporting Our Men; Learning How To Feel

Today on “All Eyes On Me” Kevin Zdrill talks to Vincent Lilly about the need for men to develop their inner awareness of opening up and embracing their emotions in order to teach themselves to feel.  Saddled with negative emotions from crimes, addictions, abuse and childhood traumas men succumb to suppressing this lifetime accumulation of baggage.  These traumas become physically and emotionally heavy. Vincent’s conversation within this podcast speaks to the methods of breaking this cycle and releasing themselves to healthy, emotional well-being.  This podcast is based on Vincent’s autobiographical book, All Eyes On Me, A True Story of Addiction, Recovery and Hope, a raw and honest memoir about the strength of the human spirit.  Available on Amazon.com The post Supporting Our Men; Learning How To Feel appeared first on WebTalkRadio.net.

TURNING POINTS

Vincent discusses the importance of recognizing turning points within our lives and the power to use them for making positive change happen.   Listen to Vincent relay his unforgettable story of burning to ashes and rising from them better than ever before – one step at a time. Vincent moves with a presence that bespeaks purpose. He carries himself with genuine sincerity. These mannerisms are what grabbed my attention late November morning in 2018 when I walked into the basement-level gym at Pan Am Boxing Club and we first met.  The seeds for this book, All Eyes On Me, a true story of Addiction, Recovery and Hope, were sprung from this chance meeting. Tattoos cover his chiseled legs and arms, life stories his body art tell about him. His raspy voice is filled with both pride and fragility when he speaks about how important his sobriety is to him. He reflects how the troubles in his life began as early as age five. His consistent message is that with self-awareness, we all have the ability to change. There is always hope. There is always a need for open-mindedness against judgment. He provides a striking contrast against the commonly held views that criminals and addicts should be warehoused in jail for their misdeeds, ignoring their preceding life story that shaped their actions. He hopes readers and listeners, agencies, governments, school boards, communities and families are challenged to come together to break the stigmas and cycles of addiction, incarceration, gang involvement, domestic violence and sexual abuse to strengthen our towns and cities across our countries. There’s something natural about Vincent when he speaks about himself and life around him. There’s an openness that’s believable. He’s thoughtful in his remarks, and they leave you wanting to hear more. In the words of Vincent Lillie, which is also the motto he lives by: “No matter what’s going on in your life, no matter how bad you have it, there is hope always. That’s what I tell myself.” I am forever indebted to Vincent for sharing his story and the hope he provides for all those fighting to see through their own darkness. Holding On to Your Kids

Vincent guides listeners on the pillars for families to strengthen the bond with their children.   The objective:  Becoming the stronger influence in their lives so that they are the first they turn too in the times of negative influences.  Hear the story behind the story as Vincent and author Kevin Zdrill walk through Vincent’s path to freedom from his past. Vincent’s slow but steady road to recovery through sheer willpower and determination led him to become a mentor and speaker, motivating kids and adults to become better versions of themselves, and stopping those who are troubled from following in his footsteps.
