Are Right and Wrong Opinions?

Are Right and Wrong Opinions?

This is Ken Ham, celebrating fifty years of creation apologetics ministry. Yesterday we looked at the claim that morality is determined by feelings. We saw that, in this view, no one can tell anyone else what they’re doing is wrong since everyone can choose their own morality. Well, I’ve also heard that “we establish laws by consensus.” But different groups can have a different consensus. So, let’s take this to its logical conclusion. Are terrorism and suicide bombings wrong? What about Nazi Germany or the modern sex trade which abuses children? If these groups have decided these things are right, how can our group say they’re wrong? Without the foundation of God’s Word, morality makes no sense. Is Morality Subjective?

Is Morality Subjective?

This is Ken Ham, author, speaker, and blogger on science and the Bible’s reliability. A big problem in the secular worldview is trying to explain where morality comes from. One famous atheist once told me he determines what’s right and wrong “based on what I feel as a member of the human tribe.” He then admitted that his feelings could be very different from someone else’s feelings. But what happens if someone feels that types like him are dangerous? Should they be allowed to get rid of them? Of course not! But if morality is determined by our feelings, there’s nothing wrong with this, and no one can tell someone else what they’re doing is right or wrong. You see, only God’s Word provides a solid foundation for morality. Dig Deeper Atheists Agree: Truth Is a Moral Issue Do Secularists Have a Foundation for Morality?

Information from Matter?

Information from Matter?

This is Ken Ham, inviting you to visit the Creation Museum in Northern Kentucky. DNA is an complex language and information system built into the cells of every living thing. I once challenged a famous atheist to explain how matter could produce a language system with trillions of bits of information. Such a thing has never been observed—information always comes from other information. His answer? “Here we are.” That was his evidence! He wasn’t starting with the evidence. The evidence we observe is that information can’t arise by natural processes. He started with a belief that somehow this happened because, well, we’re here. He had already excluded God, so all he was left with was his naturalistic belief. Dig Deeper DNA—The Language of Life Information Theory

Are We Related to Bananas?

Are We Related to Bananas?

This is Ken Ham, a contributor to the family-friendly publication Answers magazine. Did you know evolutionists teach that you’re related to poison ivy and mosquitos? During his visit to the Ark Encounter nine years ago, I asked Bill Nye, “the Science Guy,” if we’re related to bananas and he said, “yes!” Now, he thinks we’re related to everything because every living creature has DNA. He thinks this shows common descent. But that starts with the assumption that everything arose from a common ancestor. There’s a different way of looking at DNA. Our Creator made us all to live in the same world, eat the same food, and breathe the same air. So, he wisely designed every living thing with the same building blocks—DNA. Are We Just Animals?

Are We Just Animals?

This is Ken Ham, an Aussie transplant with a passion for God’s Word and the gospel. There’s a zoo near where I live that proudly teaches kids nothing separates them from the animals. Of course, they don’t mention the big fence that does! But this is a dangerous teaching. If we’re just animals, then why should we value life? Animals don’t. Why not get rid of spare kids like spare cats? We’re already seeing this with abortion. Or why should we behave morally? Animals don’t have a moral code. And yet, we know that some things are right and wrong. Why? Well, because we aren’t just animals. We are indeed separate from them because we’re uniquely created in the image of God, and accountable to our Creator. Dig Deeper What Are Humans? Animals, Mammals, or Neither? Atheism—A Hopeless Religion

Atheism—A Hopeless Religion

This is Ken Ham, inviting you to visit the Ark Encounter in Northern Kentucky. Many young people are falling for the lie of the secular religion of atheism. The media and public school system have indoctrinated them to believe this is some kind of scientific position, not a religion. But it is a religion—a religion of hopelessness. You see, if you die and that’s it, you’re done, then there’s no ultimate purpose or meaning to life. You won’t remember you were ever here, no one else will either, and nothing you did will ultimately matter. But we can have lasting meaning and hope through Jesus’ death and resurrection. He calls us to live for him and, eventually, to enjoy eternity with him forever. Dig Deeper Atheism: A Religion with No God What Is Our Hope?

When You Die—You’re Done?

When You Die—You’re Done?

This is Ken Ham, contributor to the apologetics series, The New Answers Books. I once asked a famous atheist what he thinks happens when you die. And he responded, “You’re done.” So, I asked him why anything ultimately matters if we’re just going to die and no one will ever remember we were here. He just kept talking about the “joy of discovery” and said, “the meaning of life is to live and pass your genes on.” But, ultimately, discovery and reproduction don’t matter if we all just die and that’s it. The atheist religion doesn’t offer any hope or purpose. These things can only be found in Jesus Christ and in what he did for us on the cross. Christ’s death and resurrection offers true hope and purpose. Dig Deeper Atheism: Hopeless, Meaningless, Purposeless Confessions of a Former Atheist

Only One Race

Only One Race

This is Ken Ham, CEO of the ministry producing Answers Bible Curriculum. Early evolutionists believed there were different races that evolved at different times. One high school textbook in America at the time taught students there were five races, and Europeans were the highest type of all! Yes, this evolutionary idea of different races led to racist attitudes, which are sadly still around today. But this evolutionary prediction fell flat when genetic research confirmed there’s only one race—the human race. Now, the Bible has been teaching for thousands of years there’s just one race. We’re all descended from Adam and Eve and are all “one blood.” The evidence confirms God’s Word. Dig Deeper Did Darwin Promote Racism? All Children Are of One Race—the Human Race

Evidence for Adam and Eve?

Evidence for Adam and Eve?

This is Ken Ham, inviting you to check out our streaming platform Answers TV. According to God’s Word, all humans are descended from just two people: Adam and Eve. And did you know there’s scientific evidence to support what the Bible says about our origins? Genetic studies have shown there’s only a tiny difference between the DNA of any two people when it comes to their external features—only a tenth of a percent. If humanity were hundreds of thousands of years old, we’d expect there to be huge differences between people groups. But there’s not! This confirms the young ages and starting population of only two described in the Bible. You know, as always, the evidence confirms God’s Word. Dig Deeper Did We All Come from Adam and Eve? Are We Descended from Martians?

Are We Descended from Martians?

This is Ken Ham, president and CEO of the Ark Encounter themed attraction. Almost nine years ago, we had Bill Nye, “the Science Guy,” visit the Ark Encounter. During his visit, he said, “it’s not crazy to suggest . . . you and I are descended from Martians.” Of course, and he even admitted this, there’s no evidence that we are descended from Martians, and yet, he still thinks its “not crazy” to believe that. But he does think we’re betraying our intellect to believe we’re descended from Adam and Eve like the Bible describes, even though there’s solid scientific evidence, such as we’re all one race, to back this up. You know, the problem with skeptics like Nye isn’t the evidence—it’s the heart. Dig Deeper Bill Nye, “It’s Not Crazy To Suggest . . . You and I Are Descendants of Martians.”

Mosquitos—Very Good?

Mosquitos—Very Good?

This is Ken Ham, author of Divided Nation: Cultures in Chaos and a Conflicted Church. God’s original creation was “very good.” Living in a fallen world, it’s hard to imagine everything—including mosquitos—as “very good.” In our fallen world, they’re pests that can spread deadly diseases. What good purpose could they serve? Well, mosquitos are excellent pollinators. They largely feed on nectar and spread pollen from plant to plant. And not all mosquitos feed on blood. Males survive exclusively on plants and microbes. It’s the females in some species that eat blood to get proteins for reproduction. You know, before the fall, these proteins came from somewhere else. In the original creation even mosquitos were “very good.” Dig Deeper The Genesis of Malaria The Design of the Mosquito and Its Dangers The Dark Side of Nature

Contradictions in the Creation Account?

Contradictions in the Creation Account?

This is Ken Ham, inviting you to vacation in Northern Kentucky at the Ark Encounter. Many people think the first two chapters of the Bible contradict one another. They claim Genesis 1 has the animals being created before people, but in Genesis 2 animals are created after Adam? So, which chapter’s right? Well, both are. You see, this is just an example of a supposed contradiction that’s easily resolved. When the Bible was translated into English some translations, such as the King James, chose to say, “the Lord God formed every beast of the field.” But other translations chose “had formed.” In Hebrew this is correct. So the two chapters don’t contradict each other at all. Dig Deeper Do Genesis 1 and 2 Contradict Each Other? Bible Contradictions

Is Science Neutral?

Is Science Neutral?

This is Ken Ham, an author and speaker on science and the Bible’s reliability. Many people think science is neutral. A scientist just follows the evidence where it leads. But science isn’t neutral. What you believe about the past determines how you interpret the evidence. For example, what you believe about how old the earth is or how life got here will influence how you view the evidence and your conclusions. As biblical creationists, we start with God’s Word and interpret the evidence through that lens. But evolutionists also have a starting point—millions of years and evolution. No one approaches the evidence from a neutral point. We all have starting assumptions that influence our interpretation. Dig Deeper Science—Worldview Neutral? What Is Science? Science or the Bible?

Does the Bible Teach a Flat Earth?

Does the Bible Teach a Flat Earth?

This is Ken Ham, a missionary with a passion for God’s Word and the gospel. Over the years we’ve heard the claim that the Bible teaches a flat earth. But that’s simply not true. The prophet Isaiah says God “sits above the circle of the earth” and in the book of Job we read that God “hangs the Earth on nothing.” Now, sometimes people say poetic passages where the Bible talks about the sun rising or setting show the Bible teaches a flat earth. But this is silly. No one would accuse a meteorologist giving the weather report who mentions the sunrise or sunset of believing the earth is flat! Observational science confirms that the earth is a sphere. Science always confirms God’s Word. Dig Deeper Falling for a Flat Earth Does the Bible Teach That the Earth Is Flat?

We Need All of God’s Word

We Need All of God’s Word

This is Ken Ham, author of the new daily devotional, Ken Ham Daily. Have you ever read through the whole Bible? Well, sadly, many Christians rarely actually read their Bibles. And if they do, they normally only read the New Testament, thinking it’s more important or at least easy to understand. But did you know the Old Testament is foundational to the New Testament? It provides the history we need to understand what happens in the New Testament. You see, Jesus’ coming, dying on the Cross, and rising again is the grand culmination of Old Testament history and prophecy. Without this history you can’t understand why Jesus came to die and rise again. So read God’s Word—all of it! Dig Deeper Why Is Reading the Bible So Important? Why Do We Need the “Old” Testament?

The Bible Got It Right

The Bible Got It Right

This is Ken Ham, a publisher of the award-winning Answers magazine. The Bible and evolution provide two very different histories of the earth. According to the Bible, God created the universe, and everything in it, in just six days a few thousand years ago. Evolution says the universe is billions of years old and that life is the result of millions of years of evolution. Both can’t be right! Well, it should come as no surprise to Christians that the evidence confirms God’s Word. The example we looked at this week was soft tissue in fossils. It shouldn’t be there if these fossils are millions of years old, but it’s no problem in a biblical timescale. You know, as always, the Bible got it right. Soft Tissue Everywhere!

Soft Tissue Everywhere!

This is Ken Ham, inviting you to come to Northern Kentucky to see the Ark Encounter. The most popular example of soft tissue in the fossil record is collagen that was found in a T. rex femur that was supposedly 65 million years old. Of course, collagen can’t last nearly that long. But that’s not the most amazing example of soft tissue in supposedly old fossils. Precambrian rocks are considered some of the oldest rocks on earth. Well, scientists uncovered some tube worm fossils in this rock layer. These fossils had proteins that were still flexible! And they were dated at half a billion years! There’s no way these proteins remained intact and flexible for that long. Soft tissue in fossils confirms a young earth. DNA After Millions of Years?

DNA After Millions of Years?

This is Ken Ham, editor of the popular The New Answers Book apologetics series. How long does DNA last? Scientists experimented on some fossil bones to see how fast one kind of DNA, called mitochondrial DNA, decays. They discovered this DNA couldn’t last more than 650,000 years before it’s totally destroyed. Well, scientists have reported finding DNA in some insects that were preserved in amber. Supposedly these insects died 30 million years ago. And yet we can still find their DNA even though it lasts far less than that! This is powerful evidence for a young earth. Those insects aren’t that old because our earth was created by God just a few thousand years ago. Dig Deeper Solid Answers on Soft Tissue First Fossil Mosquito Found Filled with Blood

Fossils—They’re Not That Old!

Fossils—They’re Not That Old!

This is Ken Ham, a frequent speaker in churches and at conferences around the world. Collagen is a tough protein found in the bones and skin of humans and many different animals. Oxygen and chemicals destroy collagen over time. Experiments have shown that collagen can’t last longer than 900,000 years under ideal burial conditions. And ideal conditions aren’t usually what you find in nature! Why does this matter? Well, collagen has been found in fossils including a T. rex femur thought to be millions of years old. But it still had collagen in it and that can’t last even one million years! These fossils aren’t old; they’re young just as we’d expect starting with God’s Word. Soft Tissue from a T-Rex

Soft Tissue from a T-Rex

This is Ken Ham, inviting you and your family to see the Ark Encounter attraction. In 2005, a scientist shocked the scientific community when she published a dramatic find. In a femur bone from a fossilized T. rex her team found soft tissue: red blood cells, blood vessels, and collagen proteins that were still stretchy. Now this find was shocking because no evolutionist expected to find soft tissue from a dinosaur that they believe died 68 million years ago. And yet here it was! As we’ll see all this week, soft tissue simply can’t last for millions of years. This find is dramatic evidence that dinosaurs weren’t buried millions of years ago.
