Banter Over a Cigarette is a variety style blogcast podcast where I discuss the things that amuse me, interest me, concern me. I talk about strange things in the news, anything that can be labeled as what-the-fuckery, as well as movie reviews, interviews, and I highlight musicians and fellow podcasters from time to time. If this seems like its right up your alley check it out at boacblogcast.wordpress.com Hosted by Eldon K.R.

Promo: NaNoWrivalry

Here be the promo I was talking about for the last couple of weeks. Listen to it for all the details, one to post tomorrow as well. And probably the day after that, and the one after that two. Got to get all these things out thank to my nemesis and his delay in getting me the lines. http://www.archive.org/download/NanowrivalryPromo/NaNoRivalry.mp3

BOaCS3Ep9-Things and Stuff

I’ll have to appologize for this one. I knew that this one needed editing but, meeting NaNoWriMo goals got in the way of that as well as some personal issues that I’ve been trying to work through. The show hasn’t been edited and I’m sorry. The season is coming to a close sometime in December, I haven’t decided when yet. I’ll try to make this show as awesome as I can for the rest of the season and find ways to overhaul and improve it for next season. That’s really all I have to say now, I’m off to bed. [Ben will have the show notes up soon] http://www.archive.org/download/Boacs3ep9-thingsAndStuff/BOaCS3Ep9-Things-and-Stuff.mp3

BOaCS3Ep8 – The Tangent Fest

From what I gathered from my Twitter feed over the weekend, everybody seems to be talking about the ACTA and how everybody seems pissed off by it. It would also seem that for once I got on the band wagon early because my cohosts and I discussed this in the middle of last week while we were recording the snow. There were a few other things we talked about but it seems that this is the one that people are the most concerned about, it makes me think that the segment concerning the ACTA should have been bumped up a couple of slots to the feature instead of the WTF of the week. I could use this space to discuss the ACTA at further length, but I feel there is nothing more I can say on the matter that hasn’t already been said. That and today has me feeling a bit tired. I may or may not make this whole matter next weeks feature to shed some more light on it if people are still talking about it next week when I record. I agree, it is an important matter, but I won’t give said matter any more coverage if the short attention span of the average internet user and podcast listener has found something else to be concerned about. I could also use this space to talk about NaNoWriMo, but after the first week I’m sure those of you who aren’t participating are tired of hearing about it. So if you care to see how I’m faring I encourage you to visit my writer blog I hope you enjoy this weeks show, we’ll see you next week. 0:00 Intro 2:30 Front End Banter 9:00 NaNoWriMo and Brains 15:00 Break: Free Will 17:20 The PodCaster Triple Threat 18:15 One of the Funniest Youtube Videos Ever (according to Ben) 20:10 NVidia chip sets wont support USB 3.0 until 2011 27:35 The Movie Industry is still butt hurt about Piracy 39:40 A Study shows that chronically ill patients are happier if they give up hope 47:00 BorderLands and Other Games 52:10 Fail Of The Week: Blockbuster employee stabs self to skip work 59:00 Maine Says Yes to Pot No to Gay Marriage 1:08:10 Break: London Moon Thing (You’ll have to listen to the promo for this one, I forgot where it came from or what it is) 1:09:15 WTF of the Week: ACTA 1:32:05 Outro 1:36:54 End of Show http://www.archive.org/download/Boacs3ep8-TheTangentfest/BOaCS3Ep8-Tangentfest.mp3

BOaCS3Ep7 – NaNoWriMo

This week we covered some interesting topics, but what I’d like to focus on is our feature. I talked with Scott Roche about NaNoWriMo at length and we discussed some of the main pitfalls that writers face from a domestic standpoint, as well as some problems you’ll face as a novice writer, as well as distractions posed by the internet. We then offer ways that each of these problems can be solved. Keep your eyes on the feed over the next week for the promo for the show as well as something a little extra. 0:00 Intro 5:15 Front End Banter 11:40 Why we havent been doing our jobs 18:25 We are in a parallel universe 23:30 iTtunes LP 32:05 Break 7th Son 35:10 Piracy and the MPAA 39:15 Games Mass Effect 2 Release date 44:50 Fail of the Week cop pulls gun on haunted house worker 48:20 NaNoWriMo with guest speaker Scott Roche 1:15:35 Break V&A Shipping 1:16:45 WTF of the week Starcraft Stabbing 1:30:00 Outro 1:34:55 End of Show http://www.archive.org/download/BOaCS3Ep7-NaNoWriMo/BOaCS3Ep7-NaNoWriMo.mp3

BONUS CONTENT: An Essay

This is the audio part to the essay that I posted on Drawing a Blank. This is also a preemptive apology. You see, Ben, has had tomorrows episode since last night and he chose to go to bed early today instead of doing the show notes. There’s really nothing I can do if he won’t be responsible. I don’t think beating him will work. Either way here is the audio recording of the essay. I hope you enjoy it. Feel free to call in and leave feedback. The Show will be posted in a few hours. http://www.archive.org/download/BonusContentEssay/BonusContent-AnEssay.mp3

BOaCS3Ep5 – Introducing the Fail of the Week Segment

Righty-O! Here I am with the next episode for your listening pleasure. We created a new segment as well as had a guest host. I really hope you enjoy the show and I’ll see you next week. [Ben thinks it’s fun to make me look bad. So instead of doing the show notes today he went off to Terre Haute to buy porn. Show notes should be up sometime Tuesday.] http://www.archive.org/download/s3ep5/BOaCS3Ep5-Introducing-the-Fail-of-The-Week.mp3

BOaCS3Ep4 – Slow news week

Alright. Here’s Episode 4. On time again. I think I’m starting to get the hang of this again. And so is Ben. It used to take forever to get him to find time to record, and then having him transcribe the shownotes was always like pulling teeth. It’s good that we have an actual schedule now. I’ll keep this news post short. I’m starting to go into a food coma. As the episode title suggests. It was a slow news week. I didn’t really have much to talk about but I wanted to put an episode out. I still think the show turned out good anyway. Hopefully something interesting will happen next week so that I have something I can bitch about. Also, November is right around the corner. That means it’s almost time for NaNoWriMo. I’ll be participating in it again this year. You can check out my Writer Blog for any updates regarding NaNo that I make. Enjoy the show and let me know what you think about this weeks episode by leaving some feedback. If you still don’t know how to leave feedback for the show be sure to listen to the outro at the end of the show for that information. I’ll see you next week. BOaCS3Ep3- Season Opener

After two weeks of interviews we bring you the season opener. It ran a bit long but that’s to be expected of the first show we’ve recorded in almost a year. Most shows will usually run abour 45 minutes long after this unless it’s another special episode or an interview. The downside is that my server makes a MASSIVE amount of noise. I don’t notice it anymore but I don’t yet know how it will affect your listening experience. I try to scrub this out in post production but whatever tricks I’ve used make it sound worse at the end so it’s just something that’s going to be there until I can find some method of sound proofing to eliminate this background noise while recording. Here’s the show, if you enjoyed this episode listen to the outro to find out how to leave feedback for the show. Timeline: 0:00 Intro 3:15 Front End Banter 4:00 Host recap 18:05 Promo: Down From Ten 20:45 Tetris makes you learn good. 27:15 Monopoly City Streets 34:30 Lets bitch about Blizzard: StarCraft2 No LAN, Battle.net, 2010 delay. 52:15 Heavy Rain 55:20 Splinter Cell Convictions 1:05:05 The FPS Flak Vest 1:07:30 Handheld Gaming Over the Years 1:37:20 Hatgate 1:43:25 Promo FETIDUS 1:48:10 wtf of the week: internet/gaming rehab center opens in seattle. 2:12:50 Outtro 2:17:35 End Of Show http://www.archive.org/download/Boacs3ep3-seasonOpener/BOacS3Ep3-Season-Opener.mp3
