#255-Be Rooted (Names of God Practical Application)

Send us a text, and leave your number or email so we can get back to you :) You guys, it's the last episode of this series and the last episode for the summer! We hate to see this series come to an end, but love ending it with some ways we can practically apply all we've learned into our daily lives. We hope you enjoy this episode, and would love your feedback! What topics or themes would you like to hear us discuss? Drop us a line and let us know!  Here are the practical application items we discussed in this episode: MIV TRANSLATIONS Jehovah Jireh: God saw to it that all He spoke to me over all these years came to pass. And all that hasn’t, just hasn’t YET.  (Genesis 22:14) Jehovah Nissi: God won this war, right here on this day. The victory is because of Him. (Exodus 17:15) PRACTICAL APPLICATION 1. Start a Names of God journal. Even though we all have different ways we journal, I think having one specific for the names of God is a great way to intentionally acknowledge that we have seen God work in so many ways. Dedicate it to marking moments God clearly answers prayer, moves mightily, or other times you feel it’s important to pause and acknowledge this moment in time. What names are you ascribing to Him or would you have based on events in the past?  Is it one from the existing list we see in the Bible?  Or is it a new one, personal to just you?  2. Jireh: What are the I Will’s God has spoken to you in your life? What are the ones He has already answered and completed, and what are the ones you are still waiting for? Go ahead and make a list. Mark the ones where He brought it to pass and note the details of how He did it. This kind of reflection will do two things: It will help you remember that God has actively worked in your life in the past, and He still is, and He still will again. It will help you see the places where maybe He has brought an answer or resolution, but you just didn’t see it before. 3. Jireh: Where are you straddling the line of belief and unbelief, like Abraham might have when offering up Isaac? I think it’s important to be honest with ourselves about this—one, so we can see where our foundation needs to be shored up. Two, so we can open ourselves up to the possibility we heard wrong or misunderstood. Three, so we can have our eyes peeled in anticipation of when He might answer. Where are the places you need God to see you? Where are the places you’re waiting for God to see to it? 4. Nissi: Journal or make a list of the times you could build an altar and say The Lord is My Banner. What victories did He provide while you worked with him? We forget to build altars sometimes. Heck, sometimes we even forget to just say thank you. Go back and make a timeline of events and times when you knew without a doubt there would not have been victory had it not been for God’s help. Make a kind of altar/banner based on one that is most transformational for you 5. Do you think of God as your “Abba, Father?”  6. What would calling God “Abba” feel like to you?  7. Create a vision in your mind of what going to God in prayer would look like if you approached him as “Abba, Father”. And then when you go to prayer to Him with a posture that He is your Papa, use this vision to help the senses come alive for y Support the show As always, thank you for listening! #254-Jehovah Rapha, Jehovah Nissi & Abba Father

Send us a text, and leave your number or email so we can get back to you :) We've got three more names of God for you, and we're packing them all into this episode! This week Tracy breaks down God our Healer; Monica discusses God our Banner; Sara explores God our Father.  JEHOVAH RAPHA: God is our Healer and He heals everything. Our bodies. Our souls. Creation. He heals the sick, the brokenhearted and the sinful. We can be healed because Jesus took our sin, pain, disease and brokenness upon himself.   JEHOVAH NISSI: A banner is something lifted up, a sign. In ancient day battles, opposing nations would fly their own flag on a pole at each end of their front lines. This was to give their soldiers a feeling of hope and a focal point. This is what God is to us—a banner of encouragement to give us hope and a focal point. ABBA FATHER: Of all the names of God, none is more intimate than the one Jesus himself gave God, Abba, Father. In this episode, Sara dives into how coming to know God as her Abba or PaPa has been new to her, but so beautiful. Support the show As always, thank you for listening! #253-Jehovah Shalom (Names of God Series)

Send us a text, and leave your number or email so we can get back to you :) Who wouldn’t want a little soundness, completeness, harmony, and the absence of strife in their lives?? This week, Sara uncovers who can give us those very things, Jehovah Shalom or God of Peace. Listen in and learn how to receive the Peace that passes all understanding! Shalom experienced is multidimensional and complete well-being — physical, psychological, social, and spiritual; it flows from all of one’s relationships being put right — with God, with(in) oneself, and with others. Only God can create shalom (Isaiah 45:7), and this gift will come through the work of the Messiah, the Prince of shalom (Isaiah 9:6–7). Therefore, shalom is perhaps the most basic characteristic of the future kingdom of God, a time when the Lord himself comes to heal all that is wrong with the world. #252-Jehovah Rohi: The Lord Our Shepherd (Names of God Series)

Send us a text, and leave your number or email so we can get back to you :) We continue our names of God series this week with Tracy teaching us all about Jehovah Rohi--the Lord our Shepherd! Through the illustration of God being our Shepherd, we see how God tenderly takes care to provide, guide and protect us: A shepherd represents a more close and intimate relationship. If the Lord is our Shepherd, that makes us sheep and prone to wander.  “I shall not want," meaning not only can God take care of my physical needs, but that He can also fulfill me and satisfy my heart. “I shall not want” while walking through the valley of the shadow of death.  We can trust God has us here for a reason. #251-Welcome to the Names of God Series! (Jehovah Jireh)

Send us a text, and leave your number or email so we can get back to you :) We're kicking off a brand new series this week, focusing on specific Names of God! Each of us will take turns deep diving into a specific name, and we'll wrap the series with our Be Rooted episode where we give practical application on how to really let these names take root in your life. In this episode, Monica discusses the name Jehovah Jireh, found in Genesis 22:14. You're going to love unpacking the details leading up to the moment Abraham gives God this name! Here is the complete list of names people gave God in the Bible: El Shaddai (Lord God Almighty) El Elyon (The Most High God) Adonai (Lord, Master) Yahweh (Lord, Jehovah) Jehovah Nissi (The Lord My Banner) Jehovah-Raah (The Lord My Shepherd) Jehovah Rapha (The Lord That Heals) Jehovah Shammah (The Lord Is There) Jehovah Tsidkenu (The Lord Our Righteousness) Jehovah Mekoddishkem (The Lord Who Sanctifies You) El Olam (The Everlasting God) Elohim (God) Qanna (Jealous) Jehovah Jireh (The Lord Will Provide) Jehovah Shalom (The Lord Is Peace) Jehovah Sabaoth (The Lord of Hosts) And here is the link to the Names of God playlist in Apple Music! #250-Being Rooted

Send us a text, and leave your number or email so we can get back to you :) It's time to Be Rooted! Be Rooted is a new episode we'll be doing at the conclusion of every series, where we focus on what we've learned and discussed over the past few weeks and apply it into our daily lives. Tracy will be coming to you From the Couch, with the counselor's perspective. Sara will come to you with The Playbook, from a coach's perspective. And Monica will have the writer's approach and her MIV translations. We hope you enjoy this new format! FROM THE COUCH: 1.  Become curious about your body:   Notice your aches and pains, the tension in your neck.   What is my body trying to tell me?   If I feel any pain, what is my body communicating to me?  Do I need rest? Do I need to see a doctor?  Am I holding onto something from my past, creating tension?  Am I fearful or worried about something causing stress in my body?  What does God offer me in my bodily pain: miracle, medical help or maintenance (self-care)? 2.  Become curious about your thoughts:  Where did this thought come from? Does this thought line up with Gods Word? Holy curiosity about our thoughts leads us to search out Gods Word.   How can I speak graciously to myself?  By speaking over myself what God says about me in His Word! 3.  Become curious about your feelings: Why am I resistant to coming to God and being still in God?   Why am I feeling angry? Have I crossed my boundaries or did someone else cross them?   What is God inviting you to this year? THE PLAYBOOK: What does stillness look like in your life?  What are you saying yes to that is non-negotiable?  What are you saying yes to that is negotiable?  What of your “yes’s” is out of calling and obedience to God, or from a posture of guilt or selfishness?  Who are you? Who do you want to be? How are you going to get there?  MIV: Where do you want freedom? It could be freedom from an addiction, a mentality, a belief. Find one Bible verse that will help you seek freedom in that area and post it everywhere you can. Make yourself a phone lock screen so you always see it. Know God desires freedom for that area for you too! What is your story of freedom? If you’re a believer in Jesus, you already have found freedom. Spend some time journaling out your story of freedom, taking special note of the ways God worked in and through your life to make you free. Sometimes we need to remember how He provided in the past in order to trust Him for today. What do you want your next story of freedom to look like? Who do you imagine when you envision yourself free from fill in the blank. We all have a mental image of the woman we hope to become in our minds eye. Note how she carries herself, how she speaks and moves and prays and worships. Pray God would gently remind you in the moments you’re not moving towards that picture of freedom so you can course correct. Remember: we’re not seeking perfection. It’s not possible, plausible or attainable. But we are seeking better.  Support the show As always, thank you for listening! Make sure to rate and review us, as it helps more women find our podcast. #249-Still Being Free

Send us a text, and leave your number or email so we can get back to you :) We've revisited what it's meant to be still after 11 years since the first episode, and now it's time to revisit what it means to be free. If you're eager for a good chuckle, listen to the original be free episode here! In this week's episode, Monica shares insight on what walking in freedom looks like and scripture that encourages us to find freedom and stay rooted in freedom. She also reveals where she needed freedom all those years ago and how she's grown since then...but also where she is still needing to grow and find freedom today. It's a vulnerable episode but hopefully one that resonates with some of you listening. While there are no set formulas for freedom, Monica does share five steps that will  guide you into intentionally walking in the direction of it: Be Still. Abide, remain, dwell, continue to be in Jesus.  Get to Know Him. Know Him intimately—who He is, His character, His affection toward you, His promises for you. Read the Word to get to know Him. Memorize Truth. What is the truth of what God says? Not how you feel, or how your past choices or current circumstances might lead you to believe—but the actual truth. Elevate Your Ideas. We have to be transformed by the renewing of our mind. When we choose to think on the things listed in Philippians 4:8, we recreate neuro-pathways and literally and actually renew and transform our minds. Stand Firm and Be Steadfast. Refuse to allow old bondages to slide back on. Stay resolute in your mindsets and actions to receive freedom and then walk in it. Refuse to listen to the old voices of shame and guilt that would convince you you haven’t been forgiven or can't be used by Him.  Support the show As always, thank you for listening! #248-Still Being Still

Send us a text, and leave your number or email so we can get back to you :) It's been over 11 years since we launched Be Still Be Free, and our first full episode was on what it meant to be still. Since our refresh and relaunch, we thought it would be beneficial to revisit our first couple of episodes and ask ourselves: Is what we originally believed about being still  still true? What is different? And more importantly, how have we grown? In this week's episode, Sara walks us through Psalm 46:10 and Exodus 14:14, giving us a re-introduction to stillness. Then we dive deeper into discussion about how we view stillness now, how we pursue it, and how necessary it remains for our daily life. Sara challenges us with the question: What does stillness look like in your life? She gives us five areas to evaluate: Relationships Finances Work Spiritual Life Self-care She then asks unto consider: Who are you? Who do you want to be? How are you going to get there?  Here are the resources she recommends: Boundaries by Cloud & Townsend Lord is it Warfare? #244-MONICA'S QUIET TIME

This week and next week, Monica and Tracy are sharing what God's been revealing and speaking in their quiet times. In this episode, Monica shares some insight from Psalm 23 and 2 Corinthians 12. We hope these episodes edify and encourage you to keep pursuing Truth and read God's word! Here are the two specific verses Monica talks about in her MIV translation (Monica International Version): “Undoubtedly and without fail, the truth is, God’s blessing of goodness, his kindness, and his zeal toward me will chase after and pursue me every single day for the whole of my earthly life.” (Psalm 23:6) “Jesus delights in showing me merciful kindness, therefore, I am empowered by His unfailing strength to deal with this thing that burdens me. I can confidently say that whether it stays or is lifted, Christ’s power will be carried to completion despite my frail humanity.” (2 Corinthians 12:9) Thanks as always for listening! #241-MONICA'S TESTIMONY

A verse that best describes the testimony Monica shares in this week's episode is this: "Oh, Lord God, answer my prayers! I need to see your tender kindness, your grace, your compassion, and your constant love. Just let me see your face, and turn your heart toward me. Come running quickly to your servant. In this deep distress, come and answer my prayer." (Psalm 69:16, Passion Translation) God showed up in Monica's life in exactly this way--with tender kindness, grace, compassion and love --when she didn't know she was asking Him to...and especially when she didn't realize she was needing Him to.   What a good God. Listen in this week and be encouraged as Monica shares her journey from being raised in church, knowing God as a young child, turning and rebelling, then turning back and repenting. #237-SPIRITUAL WARFARE IN THE HOME (Part 1)

We have two weeks left in this series, and we are absolutely ecstatic that Sara is back leading us with spiritual warfare in the home--what it looks like, how to identify it, and how to fight it! Learn more about Sara's coaching at her website, www.SaraGoede.com. THIS WEEK'S VERSES: "The thief comes only to steal and kill and destroy." (John 10:10) "And I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, Now is come salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of his Christ: for the accuser of our brothers is cast down, which accused them before our God day and night." (Rev 12:10) "The Lord said to Satan, 'From where have you come?' Satan answered the Lord and said, 'From going to and fro on the earth, and from walking up and down on it.'” (Job 1:7) "And no wonder! For Satan himself transforms himself into an angle of light. Therefore it is not a great thing if his ministers also transform themselves into ministers of righteousness, whose end will be according to their works." (2 Cor 11:14-15) “For even though they knew God, they did not honor Him as  God, or give thanks…they became fools…they exchanged the truth of God for a lie, and worshiped and served the creature rather than the Creator." (Romans 1) "Now the serpent was more crafty than any other beast of the field that the Lord God had made. He said to the woman, 'Did God actually say, ‘You shall not eat of any tree in the garden?'” (Gen 3:1) "You are of your father the devil, and your will is to do your father's desires. He was a murderer from the beginning, and does not stand in the truth, because there is no truth in him. When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies." (John 8:48) PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Call it what it is: Be willing to be bold and truthful.  Don’t take it personal, take it to God. Know your values. Have a strong stream of faith nurturing constantly in your family. Connect regularly. Ask great questions. Be forgiving. Renew your Mind (Counseling, coaching, mentoring, connecting). PRAY! #238-SPIRITUAL WARFARE IN THE HOME (Part 2)

Friends, it's the last episode of this series, can you believe it?? Hopefully you are leaving this series feeling extremely empowered, equipped, and ready to fight spiritual warfare when it rises up against you, your loved ones, and your home. This last week is the conclusion of our discussion about spiritual warfare in the home, and Sara brings us incredibly practical steps on how to fight and win the battle! When he lies, he speaks out of his own character, for he is a liar and the father of lies." (John 8:48) PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Use the Armor of God throughout your entire home! The Helmet of Salvation: The helmet made them stand out. Families of Christian faith should stand out.  Does yours? Beast Plate of Righteousness: Allows us to be quick to resist the things of earth.  What are you using to protect your family form this world?  Belt of Truth: Hold everything together. If the family is not armored with the truth, it will fall apart.  Are you armored?  Sword of the Spirit: If your family does not know the Word, it will have no weapon.  What sword is your family using?  Shield of Faith: Faith is produced by hearing the Word the God.  What is your family hearing?  Shoes of Peace: Peace give us sure footing.  What shoes are your family wearing? #236-USING YOUR AUTHORITY (Part 2)

It's time for part 2 of how to use your authority during spiritual warfare, and this one is a deep dive into the Armor of God--what it is and how to use it effectively! Again, you're gonna want notepaper and a pencil for this one! THIS WEEK'S VERSES: "Stand firm then, with the belt of truth buckled around your waist, with the breastplate of righteousness in place,  and with your feet fitted with the readiness that comes from the gospel of peace.  In addition to all this, take up the shield of faith, with which you can extinguish all the flaming arrows of the evil one. Take the helmet of salvation and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God." (Ephesians 6:13-17) "God is faithful, who will not suffer you to be tempted above that ye are able; but will with the temptation also make a way to escape, that ye may be able to bear it."   (1 Corinthians 10:13) "For the Word (spoken word) that God speaks is alive and full of power {making it active, operative, energizing and effective}; it is sharper than any two-edged sword, penetrating to the dividing line of the breathe of life (soul) and {the immortal} spirit, and of joints and marrow {of the deepest parts of our nature}, exposing and shifting and analyzing and judging the very thoughts and purposes of the heart." (Hebrews 4:12) “So shall My word be that goes forth from My mouth; it shall not return to Me void, but it shall accomplish what I please, and it shall prosper in the thing for which I sent it."  (Isaiah 55:11) "The Spirit alone gives life.  Human effort accomplishes nothing. And the very words I have spoken to you are spirit and life." (John 6:63) “After these things the word of the LORD came unto Abram in a vision, saying, Fear not, Abram: I am thy shield, and thy exceeding great reward." (Genesis 15:1) PRACTICAL APPLICATION: Put on the full armor of God!  Helmet of Salvation: Protected head, cheeks and jaw, heavy and lined with sponge to soften its weight. Nothing could pierce it. Breastplate of Righteousness: The breastplate refers to the righteousness purchased by Jesus at the cross. At salvation a breastplate is issued to each sinner.  Belt of Truth: Holds everything together. The belt of truth is declaring WHO God is, while the breastplate declares who you are IN Christ.   Sword of the Spirit: The Sword is the Word of God and The Spoken word of God is so sharp it cuts through our questions, intellect and emotions.  Shield of Faith: It covered the entire soldier from head to toe.  A soldier would care for the shield by saturating it with oil, just as we need the daily oil of God’s Word to keep our faith strong and active.  Shoes of Peace: These shoes have daggers on the front, back, sides and underneath to do vital damage to the enemy.  Prayer: Prayer is more than a request, but a place of surrender, consecration and thanksgiving.   Thanks for listening, and make sure to follow us on Instagram to stay up to date on latest news from Be Still Be Free!
