Okay, yes, we know we’ve already talked about the movie Backrooms in a previous episode. But we just watched the video “Everything Must Go” that Kane Parsons put up for free on YouTube, and since that’s something of a prequel then we had to rewatch the movie and then fangirl about all the ways it’s... On this week’s Night Vale recap, modern-day Cecil is back with some divine revelations from a god with a super underwhelming name. (Also the trees are being gross and they can knock that off RIGHT NOW.) After that we get into season 3 episodes 6 and 7 of Better Call Saul, where Jimmy has a... Special guest star Hannah Wallace was visiting the East Coast branch of Binary System Podcast this week, and to celebrate we watched a movie together, just like we planned! Well, sort of planned. We did not watch Jordan Peel’s movie Us, but we did watch the 2020 film The Invisible Man, something Hannah’s been trying... On this week’s Night Vale recap the radio station is still being run by the late Leonard “Gone But Still Talking” Burton because Cecil is still missing. OR IS HE? No, he is, but not for long… Anyway, Leonard gives us an episode from 1946 where the Boys have come home from the Great War.... Yes yes, we know we said we’d have an episode of Welcome to Night Vale to recap this week, but in our defense we are BAD AT COUNTING, and we won’t be able to recap the new Night Vale episode until next week. At least we have a few other things to discuss. The good:... The post Binary System Podcast #521 – Hugo Awards, Better Call Saul, and In Memoriam first appeared on Pixelated Geek.

It’s finally here, the last two episodes of the very last season of Beastars and……okay, we’re not gonna lie, it’s not great. Spoiler warnings for everything, including the rest of this description, but what the absolute hell. Why reveal the (super shocking and out of nowhere) truth about the artificial meat if you’re not going... The post Binary System Podcast #520 – The final two episodes of Beastars first appeared on Pixelated Geek.

It’s another flashback episode as Leonard Burton tries to distract us from the fact that Cecil is still missing. This week’s trip to the archives takes us to 1999, where a young Cecil is dipping his toes into the information superhighway and spending way too much on Beanie Babies from the brand-new online auction site:... On this week’s recap of Beastars season 3 episode 21 (…yes 21, we doublechecked this time it really is 21…) we ask the important questions: will Louis end up with Juno, or pine away for Legoshi? What’s up with the MMA rabbit woman? Why do the A-Team animators always handle the bits with the rats?... Welcome To Night Vale is back from hiatus! To celebrate (and to cover for the fact that Cecil is missing) guest radio host Leonard Burton is sharing an episode from the archives! So send your Betamax back to the store, grab yourself an Orange Julius, and make sure you have your credit card handy for... Last weekend Binary System went to ALL THE CONVENTIONS. Well, two of them. But they were big ones! This week we’re recapping GalaxyCon in Raleigh and Comic-Con in San Diego, going over the good (Cosplay! Cute merch! Famous artists! Amazing Digital Circus meetup!!) the bad (ugh it was hot in San Diego) (oh like 79... This week’s recap of Beastars features multiple instances of the word “weird”. Look, we know this is a fantasy show, and it doesn’t pay to look too closely into how a society of carnivores living side-by-side with potential food would actually work. But Bill the Tiger found a baby chick in his ramen, and him... The post Binary System Podcast #515 – Beastars, and Preview to The Odyssey and Comic-Con! first appeared on Pixelated Geek.

Our plan tonight was to recap episode 17 of the final season of Beastars (you call THAT a “disguise”, Louis? Really?? Also, we’re really hoping Juno gets a happily ever after, but man alive it doesn’t look good), and we do, but first we had to talk about the passing of Sam Neill. He was... Yes, we know we said on the previous episode that we would have a Welcome to Night Vale recap this week. But there wasn’t a new episode posted, because Welcome to Night Vale is on hiatus in July. Welcome to Night Vale is always on hiatus in July. Twelve years on and you’d think we’d... It’s been a wild ride for the Binary System Podcast team as we binged The Amazing Digital Circus over the last two and a half months. Kudos to everyone who’s been following this absolutely stunning animated series for, what, two and a half years? I think everyone can agree that the final episode was worth... We’re so glad we actually went to see Backrooms while it was still in the theater, partly because it’s exactly the kind of horror movie we like: scary, light on the gore, smart, just enough jump scares, and most of all intensely WEIRD. It’s deliciously unsettling and we could just marinate in that uncanny anti-nostalgia... The post Binary System Podcast #511 – Backrooms, and WTNV #290 “A Solution” first appeared on Pixelated Geek.

What do you know, we actually managed to finish watching a season of TV less than six months late! And wow, what a season. Pluribus has had some amazing episodes, with a story that’s been both delightful and heartbreaking and which never went where we were expecting. So it really means something to say that... On this week’s Night Vale recap, Jalen is being awfully understanding about being in jail for a murder his dead doppelganger (probably) committed. But a secret ally is sending clues that could help Cecil solve the case, if Cecil can stop obsessing about his stapler long enough to figure it out. And if they don’t... The investigation into the murder of Marcus Vanston is moving ahead at breakneck speed. And for this week only, Cecil’s covering the latest developments in a hard-boiled, film noir style that only gets weirder (and more fun) when you add Night Vale’s tendency to mess with metaphors (we WILL be trying to work “the hornet’s... If we had to recap the last three episodes of The Amazing Digital Circus VERY quickly, we’d say episode 6 is delightfully violent, episode 7 is a kick in the heart, and episode 8 is terrifying. We mention at the beginning of the episode that there’s no need to recap all three point by point....
