Up and down like a rollercoaster, truly. Life is…INCREDIBLY difficult. As a Foundational Black American actively woking to create a peaceful existence for myself despite the atrocities that surround us, a necessary component of this transformation is continuing to dismantle the American programming of only engaging in/with things that serve the self and self only.    I may not know the minutia of the Palestinian-Israeli conflict, but as a descendant of slaves I know what genocide means and what it looks like in practice. As a Black woman operating in America under the abhorrent mechanics of systemic racism, I know what being gaslighted looks like when pushing to lay claim over what’s rightfully yours. The systems working to ensure that I never see true peace and freedom are the exact same forces hovering over the people of Sudan, Syria, Haiti, the Congo, Palestine, and all oppressed peoples at the hands of colonization. I am not free until we’re all free. There’s no boycott on this week's episode, but I encourage you to take a look at the companies that profit off of the war between Israel and Palestine as well as the companies that have affirmed exclusive solidarity with Israel. This is NOT a call to action encouraging you to move in one way or another, but it is a challenge for you to review the ways in which you may/may not be complicit. We can absolutely criticize a system in which we’re all participants, really because said system is the only option and (in large part) the means to our survival. There are many factors that are out of our control, but we hold a level of power that’s stronger than many realize. That strength, however, can only be ignited through active solidarity.  Do what you can with the knowledge you obtain, check your privilege, divest any and all apathy, hold yourself and others accountable, and be the human that the world needs and not one that is part of the reason for the disarray. I’m so tired and I know a lot of you are too, but the only way we will see individual peace is if we stand on BIG business together.
