BUDDHA BEATS 106

Episode in BUDDHA BEATS
Episode 106 is a mix that contains energy from old dusty warehouse raves, and doesn't let up for a whole hour and ten minutes. This mix felt so good to create too… There are tracks from some well known artists, some who have done an amazing job to capture "that vibe" in their productions that whose name we don't readily recognize, and then there are some tracks that are rare dance floor classics from artists who if you say their name, most would immediately know who they are and what they sound like. My goal, was to capture this vibe. What makes this episode do special you ask? Well, the crate digging I had to do to in search of the vibe I wanted for this mix. Loopy, Minimalistic, Evolving, Hypnotic tracks that eventually take that left turn into the pitch black void. Super repetitive kicks? Oh absolutely! Hand claps from the abyss? Most certainly! Rave-style synth breakdowns? It wouldn't have the vibe if it didn't! Tracks that have these properties that evolve over time takes some serious digging. But adding tracks that I know would fit the vibe also came from my vinyl and CD collection. Enjoy the mix!!

BUDDHA BEATS 103 - For The Love Of House Music

Episode in BUDDHA BEATS
I have been doing a lot of reflecting lately, about all the music I’ve heard over the decades, and I can definitely say that House and Techno have always been constant for me. There’s nothing like either genre, and there’s always something new just around the corner. I’ve been in a very house music mood as of late, and I thought it’s been a minute since I did a house mix. I did my usual digging online and came across some real gems. Some I hadn’t heard in a good long while too. So I started fleshing out some classics, some new, but more importantly, some you may have never heard of. Like “When I Think About U” by Rob D’Shawn out of Detroit (who I know, and is releasing some seriously amazing music), and an excellent find like “Moving To The Sound” by Deep Fiktion on DT Weapons. I also contributed to this mix with my own “Everlasting” (releasing at the end of the month on Daibutsu Music), to help keep the dance floors busy. Enjoy the mix! TRACK LIST: 01. Alone (Original Mix) by Loops & Us 02. Feels Fine (Original Mix) by Cheesecake Boys 03. Way Too Long (Original Mix) by Paco Caniza 04. 4 The Love (Original Mix) by Karizma, DJ Spen 05. BUDDHA BEATS — Episode 99 / Hard Style

Episode in BUDDHA BEATS
I have been a raver since 1992, and have been to lots of events over the years. My hope with these mixes is that I can somehow teleport you — my listeners — mentally to the spaces that these kinds of events went down in. Illegal “Outlaw” parties, full-blown armory/convention hall sized raves, super sweat-soaked club nights, all where you danced yourself into happiness. The DJs at those events brought their “A Game”, and everyone left at the end having made new friends, and sore legs walking out. I have stories upon stories of nights like this. This month’s mix reaches back yet again to encapsulate the feeling of these massive warehouse raves from the 1990s, as well as just providing sick tunes to dance to if there’s no nightclubs or DJ nights near you. I hope these mixes provide you with the motivation to push the tables back, roll up the carpet, and get your groove on.  I’ve included a track that I’ve written at the end called “FLOORFILLER”, that has done just what the title says most times I’ve played it. Something else to know about the show: All of these episodes are hand mixed by me (and the guests do theirs by hand too), and none of the mixes are repeated. Not a one. I hand pick the tracks that really speak to me from sources across the internet. Beatport, Bandcamp, Traxsource, Juno Download, Apple Music, Soundcloud, and others, as well as from my vinyl, cassette, and CD collections. The order in which they end up in the mix, that happens at the decks.   I really hope you enjoy this mix. If you check out the video mix for this episode, you’ll get a sneak peek at some merch that will be available for you at the party on October 26th.

BUDDHA BEATS - Episode 94 / Techno

Episode in BUDDHA BEATS
This mix was inspired by the DJs I got to see this past weekend (April 20th) in Los Angeles. They really had the floor eating out of the palm of their hands. It had me thinking the whole way back to my hotel, and again on the way back to Philly. So, I when I got behind my own decks, I immediately started recording. This mix is a result of just going for it. There are four of my own tracks in here, and are surrounded by some sweet tracks. Please share this mix with your friends. Enjoy!

BUDDHA BEATS 89-HARD TECHNO

Episode in BUDDHA BEATS
Episode 89 is a 90 minute, blistering ride through the heavier and harder facets of the techno genre. When I made this, my head was clear, I had had enough sleep, and I was excited to do my absolute best. I honestly feel that this is one of my best mixes thus far. Mainly, because I took the time to get it right. Not like I didn’t for the others I’ve done, but I am extremely proud of this one. I hope you’ll agree! BUDDHA BEATS 88-BREAKS & BASS MIX

Episode in BUDDHA BEATS
Hello all! The Engineer here. Welcome to Episode 88 of the BUDDHA BEATS podcast! I hope you’re doing well. Question for you: Do you remember when breakbeats was the new hotness? No? Break-whats?  For those who weren’t around  in the scene when breakbeats were all the rage at the time, check this video out for a small primer (https://youtu.be/B4r0MdBQI6U). The reason for the reference, is that this month’s mix is all breaks and bass. This includes genres like Baltimore Bass style, Rave Breaks, Funky Breaks, Ghetto Bass, and others.   NOTE!:  Some tracks have adult language, so I apologize for that, and you have been warned.   That being said, these tracks — like many — take me back to when I first heard, or spun tracks from these genres, and I thought I would share these with you all. Now, what’s more important, is that all of the tracks listed here except the last one are by artists on Bandcamp.com. As an artist, it’s tough to get people to notice your work, and Bandcamp is a great place to find some of the most creative pieces out there.  I wanted to make sure these amazing productions and the artists who brought them to life get to an audience, with me as the conduit.  I have included links in the track listing (https://daibutsumusic.com/buddhabeats/episode88), so if you like what you’ve heard, PLEASE. GO. SUPPORT. THESE. ARTISTS. While there are free tracks on Bandcamp (where you pay what you think the track is worth), please spend a few bucks and help these fine folks out. You'd like to hear more of their music right?  Me too. So, let's get them acknowledged, and a few buck towards, bills, gear, services that they need to continue doing what they clearly love doing: making dope music.   Daibutsu Music has a store there too, and I love getting an email that lets me know someone purchased my work on the Bandcamp platform.   Please share this mix on your social feeds, it is greatly appreciated. Enjoy the mix!   TRACK LIST 00:00 — Ain’t Nobody Shake It Down (Original Mix) by Isaiah 05:00 — Mentasm (Origingal Mix) by Rave 2 The Grave 07:50 — Feel The Power (Original Mix) by Core Dimension feat. Angie Brown 10:38 — Bull (Original Mix) by Under This 14:16 — Throw It Back (Original Mix) by Gucci Bass 16:59 —  Bounce (Multiply Remix) by B-Phreak, Bradley Drop, Multiply, Hankook 20:06 —Move Your Body (Original) by Weapon Of Choice 23:45 — Renegade (Original Mix) by Farsight 26:53 — Don’t Touch That Dial (Original Mix) by JiaLing 30:02 — Don’t Stop (Original Mix) by Bowser & Paket 33:12 — Sandy Bass (Original Mix) by Weapon Of Choice 37:43 — Delusion (Original Mix) by Colombo 43:07 — What Is Love (Original Mix) by Big J 45:49 — Hurt U So (Original Mix) by Johnny L.
