This week on "Bursting the Bubble," Mike and JL's guests are Evan and Cheri Howard. Evan is the founder and director of Spirituality Shoppe, a center for the study of Christian spirituality, as well as an author and professor. Cheri is a teacher and workshop leader and manages a Wordpress blog on the topic of soul-sculpting. Evan and Cheri join Mike and JL to talk about spiritual formation on this week's program. 

Father Isaac Slater from the Abbey of the Genesee in Piffard, NY is the guest on “Bursting the Bubble” this week. He joins Mike and JL to discuss his experiences living a monastic life.

On this week's episode of "Bursting the Bubble," Mike and JL are joined by Cathy Freytag. Cathy is currently serving as the Associate Dean of the Faculty at Houghton College and is also a professor of education. She discusses concepts from the recently published book "How Shall We Then Care?" which she served as co-editor of. 

As we deal with the Coronavirus pandemic, Mike and JL talk about how that has affected Houghton College and some of the changes that have taken place in the short term

Rachel Moran is Assistant Professor of Law at St. Thomas Law School (Minneapolis, MN) Nuk Kongkaw is a 2011 graduate of Houghton College and serves as the director of the Mosaic Center at Houghton College.

On this week's episode of "Bursting the Bubble," Mike and JL welcome Rev. Rebecca Rowley. Rebecca is an assistant pastor at Fillmore Wesleyan Church and a therapist at Christian Counseling Ministries of Western New York. She joins Mike and JL this week to discuss the topic of mental health.

Jeff is a 2001 alum and currently serves as an emergency physician in Buffalo as well as organist and volunteer youth leader at Baker Memorial United Methodist church in East Aurora. This week’s guest on “Bursting the Bubble” is Brian Webb. Brian is the director of the Center for Sustainability at Houghton College and joins Mike and JL to talk about the work of the Center for Sustainability. Brian is also an avid outdoorsman and shares how his love of the outdoors and his concern for people are central to his work with creation care.

Each fall for the last 40 years, a group of Houghton freshmen have begun their college journey with a two-week outdoor adventure that we call the Highlander Wilderness Adventure. This week, Mike and JL are joined by Laura Alexeichik to learn more about this special opportunity for first-year students. Laura is a 2001 graduate of Houghton and the current director of the Highlander Wilderness Adventure. She also serves as chair of the Sport, Recreation and Wellness department at Houghton and directs the annual summer equestrian camp.

It’s the “Rhythm of Life Together” on this week’s Bursting the Bubble podcast. Mike and JL discuss habits, prayer and spiritual formation and share about their own journeys of spiritual formation.

Reverend Julian Cook is the guest on this week's program to talk about the life and legacy of Dr. Martin Luther King. Reverend Cook is a 2013 graduate of Houghton College and later received his M.Div from Boston University School of Theology. He is the director of Houghton College Buffalo East Side and also serves as Senior Pastor of Buffalo's Historic Macedonia Baptist Church. 

Mike and JL speak with two special guests on this week’s program as recent Houghton graduate Emily Allen and Philosophy professor, Ben Lipscomb give an insider’s view on Houghton’s London Honors semester. Emily received her BA in Theology from Houghton and will serve as teaching assistant for the upcoming London Semester. Ben is the director of Houghton’s honors program and provides some insight into this unique program for first-year students.

Mike and JL welcome Linda Knapp to the first program of 2020 to hear about "Adventures in East Africa." Linda is co-leader of Houghton's East Africa study-abroad program along with her husband, Eli. This week, Mike and JL are joined by Dr. Ken Schenck to discuss some of the issues covered in his course entitled "Science and Scripture". Dr. Schenck is a New Testament scholar and serves, currently, as Vice President for Planning and Innovation at Houghton College

 Dr. Judy Congdon is Professor of Organ and Harpsichord at Houghton College. She joins Mike and JL to discuss Advent and Christmas on this week's program. 

Dr. Solis-Walker is a native of South Jersey, she grew up with Spanish as her native tongue in a large Puerto Rican community.  She is an ordained Wesleyan pastor and a sought-after speaker in many different contexts.  She has a PhD in Organizational Leadership and Development with an emphasis on Ecclesial Leadership; she is a certified coach for multi-ethnic churches and organizations and has previously served as the Assistant Dean of Global Theological Education at Wesley Seminary of IWU.  She currently teaches classes at Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary and speaks all over the US.  She also has just started a new venture called Camino Road, which she’ll share a bit about today.
