Welcome to The Authentic Social Club. A space for honest conversations, real talk, and coming back to yourself. Think of it as sitting down with your most genuine friends, the ones who skip the small talk and get into what's really going on. I share my own stories, experiences and learnings, and invite friends to do the same. Because when someone opens up, it gives others permission to do the same. This is a space to feel seen, to be encouraged, and to remember that showing up as your authentic self is always enough. So that you, me, and anyone else listening feels a little less alone in this, and a little more brave. soulvibeswithcaitlin.substack.com

It was never just about the injury

Welcome to The Authentic Social Club, a space for honest conversations. About life. About the things we’re figuring out, the things we’ve already messed up, and the things we’re slowly starting to understand. Sometimes it’ll be me on my own. Sometimes it’ll be me with a friend. People who are ready to sit down and have a conversation. The whole idea behind this podcast is simple: someone has to go first. Someone has to be the one to open up, to say the thing, to be a little bit brave, so that other people feel like they can too. In this episode For 12 years I told people I’m not a runner. A doctor told me, I believed it, and I never questioned it. Until recently. In this episode I talk about the knee injury I had at 19 that turned my world upside down, the long and messy road to recovery, and the belief I carried with me long after my knee had healed. I also get into what it’s been like to slowly explore running, what that’s taught me about resilience, and why I think every setback is a setup for something new. This one is less about running and more about the stories we carry. The things we decided about ourselves years ago that we’ve never stopped to question. This episode will leave you: 🌞 thinking about the beliefs you’ve been carrying that might not actually be true anymore 🌞 with a gentle nudge to take one small step beyond the limit you think you have 🌞 with a different way of looking at setbacks and what they might be making space for Question to sit with Is there an “I’m no runner” story you’re carrying? Something you decided about yourself years ago that maybe isn’t true anymore. 🩷 Loved this episode? Share it with someone who might enjoy it, and leave a rating or comment. Are drive and ambition restlessness in disguise?

Welcome to The Authentic Social Club, a space for honest conversations. About life. About the things we’re figuring out, the things we’ve already messed up, and the things we’re slowly starting to understand and (un-)learn. This week’s episode is a solo one, and I’ll be talking about being restless, and how it’s currently showing up for me in my life. I recently had a coaching session, and prompted by that, ended up doing the “Explore Your Saboteurs” assessment from Positive Intelligence. Turns out my strongest saboteur is restlessness. And I have to say: yes, that clocks. Which brings us here, to this episode, and a question I’ve been sitting with: are drive and ambition restlessness in disguise? As you might know, these episodes help me reflect on what’s present in my life, and right now, it’s exactly that: restlessness. I’ll walk you through the characteristics I learned about, how restlessness is showing up for me, what it actually feels like from the inside, and how I’m trying to navigate my way through it all. This episode will leave you 🌞 with some known characteristics of being restless 🌞 an idea of how restlessness shows up, or can show up, in life 🌞 tools that help ground yourself from overthinking back into your body 🌞 some food for thought and reflection, and a nudge to explore your own inner saboteurs Questions to sit with * Is what you call drive or ambition actually restlessness wearing a “nicer” name? * When was the last time you let an unpleasant feeling sit, instead of chasing the next thing? * Where in your life is “I don’t want to miss out” doing more work than it needs to? * Is your energy right now building something, or helping you escape something? 🩷 Loved this episode? Conversations with Friends: On sensitivity, reframing creativity and outdated comfort zones

Welcome to The Authentic Social Club, a space for honest conversations. About life. About the things we're figuring out, the things we've already messed up, and the things we're slowly starting to understand. Sometimes it'll be me on my own. Sometimes it'll be me with a friend. People who are ready to sit down and have a conversation. The whole idea behind this podcast is simple: someone has to go first. Someone has to be the one to open up, to say the thing, to be a little bit brave, so that other people feel like they can too. In this episode I'm joined by Lara, who is from Australian, has lived in Paris and now calls Lisbon home. After an early career spent supporting the growth of various startups, she founded The Creator Club, a community for and by ambitious meaning seekers, on a mission to connect founders, risk takers and bold thinkers. Which is also how we met, via The Creator Club! We kicked off with a question I love asking: what is something you've recently learned about yourself? And it opened up a really honest conversation about what it means to be a highly sensitive person and navigating life in alignment. We talk about moving abroad and where the drive to do so comes from, creating something of your own and the fear of not bringing any results, Liz Gilbert's theory of geniuses and ideas and what it really means to dedicate your work to something bigger than yourself. This episode will leave you 🌞 feeling less alone if you've ever noticed yourself feeling big emotions strongly 🌞 with a different way of thinking about creativity and the pressure to always be producing 🌞 with the question, whether the comfort zone you're in is actually (still) serving you… 🌞 and with the space to ponder on your Why. Questions to sit with What is something you've recently learned about yourself? Are you staying in your comfort zone because it feels right, or because leaving feels too scary? What would it look like to detach from the results and just trust the process? What is a belief you've been holding onto that might be worth challenging? Loved this episode? Share it with someone who might need it, and leave a rating or comment. It helps this little community grow. This is a public episode. On proving yourself to nobody

Welcome to The Authentic Social Club, a space for honest conversations. About life, about the things we’re figuring out, the things we’ve already messed up, and the things we’re slowly starting to understand. Welcome back (and also, welcome for the first time)! In this first solo episode, I’m sharing why I’m bringing the podcast back and why it looks a little different this time. I talk about what happened to my first podcast (launched in 2022, then quietly dropped when life got overwhelming), and how passion projects are so often the first things we sacrifice when our plates get too full. I also get into the big topic I’ve been sitting with lately: ambition, and where it actually comes from. For most of my life, my drive was fuelled by anger and a need to prove myself, a pattern I trace back to my years as a competitive athlete. It worked. But it also kept me stuck in a loop of tension, anxiety, and chasing a life I wasn’t even sure I wanted. This year, I decided to slow down, step back from freelancing, and ask myself an uncomfortable question a friend posed two years ago: Are you doing this because you want to, or just to prove something? This episode is about what I found when I actually stopped to look. Some questions to sit with after you listen: * What is your ambition or drive fuelled by, and what does it feel like in your body? * Are you moving towards something, or running away from something? * What’s something you want to do just because it lights you up, no logic needed? * What would you do differently if joy was the only reason you needed? Loved this episode? Share it with someone who might need it, and leave a rating or comment. It helps this little community grow. Find me on Instagram if something resonated! 👇 @theauthenticsocialclub And here's the article I mentioned about aligned ambition! This is a public episode. Episode 29: How 5 weeks have felt like 5 months

My dear friends, Welcome back to Caitlin, my life and I! Or maybe I should rename it to Caitlin, my chaos life and I. Honestly, the beginning of this year has already felt like months!! So much has happened, emotional rollercoasters. Slightly overwhelming. Which is also why I’ve been behind with this podcast. But one thing I’ve noticed while recording this episode: I do still really enjoy doing this and will for sure prioritize doing the podcast again. It really helps me to reflect on things by speaking it out loud. And also listening to it again afterwards 😅. So what’s this episode about: Well, I’ve been moving around a bit, turned my business upside down and ended up coming back to Portugal because I was in desperate need of a safe and chill place to be. To put it in a nutshell. With being in a completely new life situation a loooooot of learnings have happened, which I tried to reflect on a little in the pod. From reminding myself about the connection between myself and the people closest in my surroundings to visualizations of me and all my moving “life-fields” and why it’s difficult to latch on to them from the outside. Over creating a space space for myself to finding balance between not just two, but multiple personalities. As always, take what you need! I hope you can find some kind of inspiring thought in this episode. And, please do let me know if you enjoy these kind of things, so I can take that into consideration when planning this year’s episodes :)! <3 If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating. More than anything this helps me and my little podcast to reach more people and create an even bigger platform to share thoughts and let people know “Hey, you’re not alone with this” <3. Episode 28: Feeling lost and not knowing where to go

My dear friends, Trying to be consistent with this is almost working. Let‘s see if I can uplevel myself in the next weeks :D ! At least I got my microphone working again, but I think I might have trashed it a little while traveling, so the quality is still not back to usual. But well, it‘s about the content and the message, right? That being said, this weeks episode is about feeling lost and not knowing where you belong. When nothing is a reassuring YES, but just a „yeah, could be nice“. Working alone, traveling alone. Although I really don‘t mind being alone, I have been feeling lonely lately. The thing is though, this feeling is not going to just go away by moving to a new country again. It‘s something within me, that I need to work through and figure out for myself. How can I comfort myself. How can I give myself the security that I‘m craving so much. All of that and the usual random babble in this weeks episode! If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating. More than anything this helps me and my little podcast to reach more people and create an even bigger platform to share thoughts and let people know “Hey, you’re not alone with this” <3. Episode 27: Kicking off 2024 - new questions, confusions and the daily life hustle

My dear friends ☀️, Welcome to 2024 and the first episode of the year! Honestly, this first week feels like it‘s been a month already 😅. The year is basically starting of with EVERYTHING new!!! New work environment, travelled to a new place, working fully remotely. Exciting and amazing, no question. Buuuut also some new frustrations, questions and topics have come up through this experience. Things, that sounds super simple, but I just did not have on my mind. Or at least didn‘t pay enough attention to. To now notice, how important these things actually are to me to be able to feel comfortable and work effectively. But as everything, it‘s a journey. Many lessons to be learned along the way. And I will tell you more about it in the new podcast episode of Caitlin, my life and I! If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating. Episode 26: 2023 Recap - what a year

My dear friends, the podcast has not died. Don’t you worry! 😅 But I have had some technical issues the past weeks and my time management is completely off. I am very sorry about that. The technical set up is still not the best and out of emergency I recorded this episode with my phone. So please bear with me and excuse that the episode is not up to usual standards 🙊. I feel like this episode is all over the place. Although it actually has a script! For once. But well, scripts and a bad time management don’t work well for me. Anyhow, as it’s the last day of the year I guess it’s the perfect time for a little 2023 reflection. And also an outlook into 2024! I‘m honestly quite excited. Aaaand the podcast is 1 year old now!! 🥳 A year ago, while I was in beautiful Barcelona I released the podcast. It was one of the most amazing moments and feelings ever. Honestly! I thank you all very much, from the bottom of my heart for your support with this podcast. I know there is still so much room for improvement, but no matter what, you take the time to listen in. And I always get so excited when one of you sends me a message regarding an episode or a topic!! So I’m truly very grateful for that ❤️. That being said, I will do my best to release episodes more regularly in the upcoming yea . And I of course hope that you will tune in again ☺️. Happy New Year!!! Episode 25: November Learnings

My dear friends, time for a November recap! Maybe I'll make this a regular thing, to have a little monthly reflection on learnings. November was a time for a lot of changes, a lot of reflection. And some learnings are definitely nothing new, but just a reminder to re-focus on myself. Who knows, perhaps these learnings can also be of some help to you, too. So here we go, my 5 learnings in November. From accepting change to protecting my energy, make sure to tune into the podcast to find out more about what's been going on this past month and my take aways from it. Episode 24: Change - avoiding or accepting?

My dear friends, this weeks topic, don't we all love it: Change. Do you avoid it or accept it? The past two weeks have brought up a lot from the past 6 months. Things feel aligned/not aligned anymore. People are in my life/not anymore. Feeling more at home in the city/close to nature. And so on and on and on. At the end of the day, all these situations have one thing in common for me: It's about change. Something has changed. And I've been struggling a little with accepting some of these changes. I end up dwelling on the past and instead of accepting and moving on, I end up thinking about why certain things aren't as they used to be anymore. Which, let's be honest, is not getting me anywhere! So, lesson learned. Again. Some things are best kept in the past. Let's see change as something positive, that opens up new doors in life, brings new experiences, new people and places. Who knows what else is out there! Enjoy the ride! If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating. Episode 23: Being Yourself In A Digital World

My dear friends, Guten Morgen from not so sunny Germany! I have a new episode of Caitlin, my life and I ready for you. This weeks topic: Being yourself in a digital world. Some of you might also be connected with me on LinkedIn and know, that the other day I wrote a post about this topic. But what a nice podcast topic this is! So I reused it and made an episode out of it. Nowadays, we live in an increasingly digital and social media influenced world. And if you are on this path of finding out who you are and trying to live your authentic self, it can be quite distracting, all this social media. Yes, I see myself as a very active person on social media. But there were times when I deleted certain apps, unfollowed accounts because it was messing with my mind and my self-worth. So, I gathered a handful of thoughts on this, for you to think about and to keep in mind. At the end of the day yes, we could just delete our accounts and not bother. And I do believe a "social media detox" every once in a while is very beneficial. But I personally see social media as a way to stay in touch with people, see what they are up to in life, share what I'm doing, etc etc. I really enjoy it! At the same time, I think we should remind ourselves every once in a while, that it is an online world and it does not define who you are <3. If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating. More than anything this helps me and my little podcast to reach more people and create an even bigger platform to share thoughts and let people know “Hey, you’re not alone with this” <3. Episode 22: Life is not infinite ....

My dear friends, it's that time of the week again and a new episode from Caitlin, my life and I is online! This week's topic: Life is not infinite (unfortunately...?). That's a fact. And I've come to the conclusion that I'm done with waiting around. Waiting for something to happen, waiting for people, and risk missing out on an experience. Be it something simple and odd like going to the skatepark or some life changing decision. I think we tend to wait around and expect some external factor to help us out of our misery. But, let's face it, one day there won't be time anymore. And we will be stuck waiting. Is that really what you want? Do you also have those "what if's..?" in mind and would love to find out the answer? Well, you better get cracking then. Despite what you believe in what happens after death, we only have this one life in this setting. So let's make it count :)! Episode 21: Awaken your inner child

My dear friends, welcome back to Caitlin, my life and I! This weeks episode is all about awakening your inner child. Because, guess what, we did a paint night. Well, it was a paint and wine night to be honest, but I mean, we are grown ups now, so wine is okey. Anyhow, just painting with watercolours and glitter was so much fun! And I'm not talking about some fancy painting to hang on your living room wall. I'm talking about super basic what-ever-you-feel-like-painting 3rd-grade-art-class stuff. What a pleasure it was! And it made me think about other things I used to enjoy doing as a kid. I feel like nowadays, we are so stuck in our grown up hustle life. Work, money, life admin, making important decisions. Wouldn't it be nice to be a kid everyone once in a while and just have fun? Of course this doesn't just involve painting and crafting, it could be what ever you used to enjoy doing! Another one of my fun things to do used to be to dangle upside down from any kind of trapeze, pole, etc. And I would totally do that nowadays, too! I mean, why not?! What did you used to enjoy doing as a kid? And have you thought about giving it another go and having a good laugh? Well, this is your sign to do so and to break out of your day-to-day life as a grown up! If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating. More than anything this helps me and my little podcast to reach more people and create an even bigger platform to share thoughts and let people know “Hey, you’re not alone with this” <3. Episode 20: Why we should accept and be grateful for rainy days

My dear friends, welcome back to Caitlin, my Life and I. As I'm sitting here on this very rainy day in Portugal, I came to the conclusion that I actually quite like rainy days. When thinking about it I realised, that this definitely has not always been like that. I used to dislike rainy days so much! So what has changed? Well, as I don't have any supernatural powers, I literally can not do anything about rainy days. So I might as well accept it and be grateful for the rain! And find joy in it. Because why would I let the weather change my mood? And then I went down the rabbit hole of what other situations can I learn to accept, because I can not change it? Past experiences, a current situation I'm in or maybe something that is planned in the future. Love it, leave it or change it. Things in the past I can't change, so I might as well stop dwelling on it. Things in the present or future I most likely could change, if I wanted to. But if I don't want to: Well, then accept it and stop worrying about it! Because that definitely is not going to change anything. A short episode, the most "to the point" it will probably ever get. Here you go. If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating. More than anything this helps me and my little podcast to reach more people and create an even bigger platform to share thoughts and let people know “Hey, you’re not alone with this” <3. Episode 19: (Re-) Gaining trust and confidence

My dear friends, it's that time of the week again: A new episode of Caitlin, my Life and I is online! In this weeks podcast I talk about how I have lost my confidence in the past weeks and what I did (well, still am doing) to gain it back. In my opinion, being confident all starts with being authentic and having trust in yourself. So I've been reminding myself of who I am, what I want in life, what I have done and overcome already, how far I have come. I mean, I used to be the shyest kid in the room and now I'm moving to new countries, travelling alone and having fun doing so! So it's in me somewhere, I just need to tap back into that energy. To do so, I create moments and situations in which I feel 100% like myself again. That always gives me hope and motivation. Makes me feel like I can trust myself. Am in the right place at the right time. And with that, step by step my confidence grows again. Maybe give it a try and let me know how you regain your confidence in challenging times! If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating. Episode 18: What surfing has taught me

My dear friends, long time no see! It's time for a new episode of Caitlin, my life and I! :) In this episode I will talk about what surfing has taught me so far. And no, I don't mean any fancy surf moves (yeah, I'm still quite far away from that :D). I mean what this surf journey has taught me in terms of life lessons. A different perspective on things. From taking a risk to creating a mind break there are five things, that are very valuable and important to me. These five learnings I have been able to use in my day to day and also my work life. And of course I end up talking about my favourite topic, because we all love something scary: Stepping out of your comfort zone. It will never not be scary, but that is where the magic happens! If you value this podcast and the content in this episode, I kindly ask you for one massive favor: Please go ahead and leave a rating.
