And someone will say what's uninstalled can never be played. Let's talk about The Game Awards, and just what exactly Geoff Keighley is doing with that show. We're of two minds about whether it's a success or even needs to exist at all. We're more of a single mind about the origins of the modern racist sexist fascist dickhead movement that wants to be known as "alt-right" in the "gamergate" collective manbaby tantrum from a few years back. Why are there still so many disaffected, socially inept, losers out there so jaded by the fact no one wants to bang them? Chins up, failures. We're all ignorant shits sometimes, you can still turn this around, but you won't do it at 4chan or Breitbart. The divisive ex-gaming writer Leigh Alexander gets a plaudit here from our own Lonesteban for cogent analysis of the situation. Westworld gets a mention. Buzz on Space Hulk Deathwing is not positive. Its release season, apparently. Summer didn't used to be like this, but this is how it is, now. Two big, colorful, character-based FPS games have just come out in the same time frame, and one of is Overwatch. The other is overlooked. That's kind of a shame, though. The games console as a concept may be the target of an attempted murder by one of it's own caretakers, Microsoft, and it looks like Sony may be involved as well, as an accomplice. Both parties are signaling a move to more frequent incremental hardware upgrades that would presumably carry over software compatibility, making them even more of de facto living room PCs. We also got a peek at what seems to be an NX prototype of some sort. What is Nintendo's role in all this? Get out the red yarn and headshots of top execs.
