Parimita Mohant, Renewable Energy Programme Management Officer at UNEP Asia Pacific Office, joined us to discuss "Women in Renewable Energy for Sustainable development". We discussed reasons why women are under-represented in decision-making processes related to resource management and environment. We clarified how women’s vulnerability to climate change in the developing world is exacerbated. We then pin-pointed career initiation and advancement barriers that women face in the renewable energy sector. We also talked about the trendy but controversial gender quotas and expressed our raw opinions on them!

For this episode, Rim Boukhchina,head of Sustainable Energy Policies and Member States Support Unit at Regional Center for Renewable Energy and Energy Efficiency (RCREEE), joined us to discuss the topic of "Women in Renewable and Sustainable Energy Sector".

In this special episode, we were joined by Ruba Al Zubi to discuss women and leadership. We chatted about how women navigate power structures and how women can build long-term resiliency and confidence in any stage of their career.

In this inspirational episode, Majd Mashharawi, founder of SunBox, tells us more about the struggles and obstacles that she had to face in her journey as a woman entrepreneur and how she and her team prospered from the grim situation. She also talks about the importance of giving back to the community as their woman role model.

The topic for this episode is Workplace Gender Equality and we were joined with Dhabia Al Bayaty, Managing Director at TRAC. We talked about the importance of having gender equality at the heart of any company’s operations and the benefits it provides. We also discussed gender and personality stereotypes and how recruiters may be influenced by them. We also tackled gender bias in the clean energy sector in MENA.

For our sixth episode of WICE Spotlight Season, we are joined by Chloe Hartwell, marketing director at GE Renewable Energy. In this episode, we tackle Gender Wage Gap and ,in specific, the Motherhood Penalty. We discuss wage gap's history, reasons, effects and implications. We then talked about ways to address the pay gap and how everyone must be involved to tackle the wage gap.

For the fifth episode of the Spotlight Season, the episode commences with Mercedes introducing herself and discusses her best received advices. Then, the episode focuses on the theme of women in finance sector. To be specific, we discussed about challenges that women face in the sector, benefits of diversity and gender equality in the workplace, and positive changes witnessed in the sector.

On today's Spotlight Season episode, we are joined with Sophia Hasnaoui, Business Development Manager at Yellow Door Energy. Sophia shares with us her career life and her interest in clean energy. She tells us how gender norms impact the workplace and how to tackle gender norms at work. She also talks about women leadership and its societal and structural barriers. Nonetheless, she emphasizes on the importance of work-life balance and teamwork.

For the third episode of the Spotlight Season, Dr. Carole opens up personally and professionally as she tells us about the challenges that she had to face during her early stages of career, how certain “role models” influenced her, her experiences with gender-related stereotypes and discrimination and her journey as a women in the energy sector.

For the second episode of CEBC’s WICE Spotlight Podcast, we are joined by Jessica Obeid, Senior Global Advisor at Azure Strategy. She takes us on a journey through her career, describes her passion in clean energy, and expresses her views on the current women empowerment movement. She also gives her insights on measures to reach gender equality at work and tells us the lessons learnt from COVID-19 that needs to be the “new normal” at work.
