This week we conclude "The Race" series with a message called "The Heart of a Forerunner". Pastor Ian will consider the passion and motivation that stirred Jesus to go ahead of us and provide our way to Heaven - and also look at how that same mindset will move us to see and mine out the treasure lieing in the lives of others.

This week our message is called “Throwing Off What Hinders” where we’ll consider: not only how to rid ourselves of those things that can stop us from effectively running our spiritual race but also how we can live in such a way that we’re healed as we go.

The word “race” is often used in describing our existence on this earth. We’re all part of the human “race”; our lives can seem hectic like a rat “race”; and sometimes our push for personal success can seem like a “race” to the finish. However we look at it, “the race” is important so we want to start 2020 with a teaching series where we’ll look at God’s plan for the journey. Using a famous biblical passage in Hebrews 12 we’ll consider: the ultimate goal; the obstacles that can stop us from running; how to know the direction we should go; and who’s cheering us on and waiting for us at the finish line.

It's true a new year is naturally a time of new beginnings but, I must confess, sometimes even though the calendar changes, my mindset and the way I view things doesn't always shift - and the opportunity for that new beginning turns into the same old, same old. Have you ever been there?

And year after year we hang on to them, never realizing that we can actually exchange them for better gifts: Renewed Energy, Closeness, Forgiveness. No one wants to waste their life. As followers of Jesus, we understand that the best life comes from walking with God, learning His ways, and staying centred in His will. But how can you begin to follow God unless you learn to hear His voice? Pastor Ian shares several steps we can take in order to tune our hearts and ears to the Lord's leading.
