Temple City is about 3 square miles and rests in the heart of the San Gabriel Valley. It is halfway between the 10 and 210 fwys and is about 13 miles northeast of downtown Los Angeles. It is a city in transition to keep growing but keep the small-town atmosphere.
It is a family-friendly city that features tree-lined streets, award winning schools and a low crime rate. Temple City is home to the annual Camellia Festival and Parade which takes place in February. The city population is 35 thousand and is comprised of primarily single family homes. Temple city has a growing business environment that is comprised of both family owned and major retail businesses and is a 'no city property tax' city.
Temple City was incorporated in 1960 and was founded in the 1920's by land developer Walter Temple for whom the city is named.
