The fall seasonal beers, we’re test driving everything from a pumpkin beer to the more traditional märzen. We’re drinking such beers as Paulaner Oktoberfest Märzen, Hacker-Pschorr Original Oktoberfest Amber Märzen, New Belgium Red Hoptober Ale, Widmer Brothers Okto Festival Ale, Ayer Oktober Fest Marzen and others.

We’re bringing out some stouts again, this time we’ve got more tasters including an injured Dave. This episode is reasonable and length and unending funny. We’ve got everything from regular stout to chocolat stout, how can you go wrong?

It is bärenjäger time, honey liqueur is in the spotlight for this episode of Everyday Drinkers audio show. We’ve got Luke, Doug and Derrick hosting the episode and cracking back a few sweet “bärenfäng” recipes. Bee Breeze 1 oz. Bärenjager 1 oz. Chambord Dash of Pineapple Juice Fill with Cranberry Juice Honey-Nut Cheerio 1/2 oz. Barenjager 1/2 oz. Hazelnut liqueur (ie. frangelico) 1/2 oz. Irish Cream Milk to taste Doug had the opportunity to try the D.O.A.

We’re back with vengeance, tapping into the summer time cocktail scene. We’re doing it “common man” style utilizing mixes and instant cocktails to see if they stand up to the real thing. Derrick brings two of his recipes to compare against the likes of a TGI Friday’s cocktail mix and the Jose Cuervo instant margarita, Luke brings the Hurricane and what the hell is Skinny Girl? Dave’s a skinny girl inside he said…

Here we go, time to bust into something with a bit of alcohol. Barelywine is a brew that can knock your socks off in many directions from hops to intense alcohol and sometimes off-dry finishes. The almighty Barelywine gives you an example of some really intense brews that fit by themselves in their own category. We’ve got Victory to Pugsly, a Sierra Nevada brew, stuff from Brooklyn Brewing (Monster) and more. Do you like Barleywine?

Recorded as “episode 39,” this is really episode 40. Luke and Mike hit the bar to do a scotch tasting on the fly, Derrick’s back at home base recording the show as they taste (and tasting his own). They hit The Royal Mile in Des Moines dressed in… suites? Yeah, they’re suiting up and really standing out at the table. A few of the scotches covered: Dalwhinnie 15 Year Single Highland Malt, Highland Park, 15 Year Single Malt, Glenfiddich 15 Year Single Malt. Pale Ales, one of the most predominant American brews, usually in the form of the famous “IPA.” We’re sampling a bunch of unique brews from Samuel Adams, Carolina Pale Ale, Fire Rock Pale Ale, UFO Pale Ale, Double Dog Pale Ale and, of course, Sierra Nevada. What’s your favorite Pale Ale?

This week we’re busting out some red ales and reviewing them up while going through a bit of what we’ve done this summer while away. The red ales in question include Killian’s Irish Red, Harpoon Leviathan Imperial Red, North Coast Red Seal Ale and a custom home brew. Come along with us on the wild red trip.
