Seek First

1. THE POWER OF FIRST Matthew 6:24–34 NKJV Therefore I say to you, do not worry about your life, what you will eat or what you will drink; nor about your body, what you will put on. Is not life more than food and the body more than clothing? 26 Look at the birds of the air, for they neither sow nor reap nor gather into barns; yet your heavenly Father feeds them. Are you not of more value than they 27 Which of you by worrying can add one cubit to his stature? 28 “So why do you worry about clothing? Consider the lilies of the field, how they grow: they neither toil nor spin; 29 and yet I say to you that even Solomon in all his glory was not arrayed like one of these. 30 Now if God so clothes the grass of the field, which today is, and tomorrow is thrown into the oven, will He not much more clothe you, O you of little faith? 31 “Therefore do not worry, saying, ‘What shall we eat?’ or ‘What shall we drink?’ or ‘What shall we wear?’ 32 For after all these things the Gentiles seek. For your heavenly Father knows that you need all these things. 33 But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. 2. TRUE VALUE OR NO VALUE Seek – Greek zeteo Greek word zeteo, and it depicts a constant attitude to actively and constantly seek for a thing. – To seek in order to find. – seek for, aim at, strive after, to require, demand to crave… 3. IT WILL BE ADDED UNTO YOU Matthew 6:33, NKJV But seek first the kingdom of God and His righteousness, and all these things shall be added to you. Philippians 3:7–9 NLT I once thought these things were valuable, but now I consider them worthless because of what Christ has done. 8 Yes, everything else is worthless when compared with the infinite value of knowing Christ Jesus my Lord. For his sake I have discarded everything else, counting it all as garbage, so that I could gain Christ 9 and become one with him. Hebrews 11:6 NKJV But without faith it is impossible to please Him, for he who comes to God must believe that He is, and that He is a rewarder of those who diligently seek Him. Isaiah 40:29–31 NKJV He gives power to the weak, And to those who have no might He increases strength. 30 Even the youths shall faint and be weary, And the young men shall utterly fall, 31 But those who wait on the Lord Shall renew their strength; Wait – qâvâh’; a primitive root; to bind together (perhaps by twisting), i.e. collect; (figuratively) to expect:—gather (together), look, patiently, tarry, wait (for, on, upon). Wait here is a different word from just sitting passively. It’s the concept That those who are braided together with God, that as your waiting your being In twined together with him. The Oil of Gladness

Hebrews 1:8-9 NKJV Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 9 You have loved righteousness and hated lawlessness; Therefore God, Your God, has anointed You With the oil of gladness more than Your companions.” INTRODUCTION Christmas is not just about a Savior being born—it is about joy being released. When Jesus came, heaven poured out something the world could not manufacture: the oil of gladness. 1. JOY HAS COME Luke 2:8-14 NKJV Now there were in the same country shepherds living out in the fields, keeping watch over their flock by night. 9 And behold, an angel of the Lord stood before them, and the glory of the Lord shone around them, and they were greatly afraid. 10 Then the angel said to them, “Do not be afraid, for behold, I bring you good tidings of great joy which will be to all people. 11 For there is born to you this day in the city of David a Savior, who is Christ the Lord. 12 And this will be the sign to you: You will find a Babe wrapped in swaddling cloths, lying in a manger.” 13 And suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God and saying: 14 “Glory to God in the highest, And on earth peace, goodwill toward men!” Nehemiah 8:10 NKJV Do not sorrow, for the joy of the LORD is your strength. Psalm 45:6–8 NKJV Your throne, O God, is forever and ever; A scepter of righteousness is the scepter of Your kingdom. 7 You love righteousness and hate wickedness; Therefore God, Your God, With the oil of gladness more than Your companions. 8 All Your garments are scented with myrrh and aloes and cassia, Out of the ivory palaces, by which they have made You glad. 2. THE OIL OF GLADNESS Acts 10:38 NKJV how God anointed Jesus of Nazareth with the Holy Spirit and with power, who went about doing good and healing all who were oppressed by the devil, for God was with Him. 3. THE ANOINTING TO RESTORE Isaiah 61:1–4 NKJV The Spirit of the Lord God is upon Me, Because the Lord has anointed (The Oil of Joy) Me To preach good tidings to the poor; He has sent Me to heal the brokenhearted, To proclaim liberty to the captives, And the opening of the prison to those who are bound; 2 To proclaim the acceptable year of the Lord, And the day of vengeance of our God; To comfort all who mourn, 3 To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” 4 And they shall rebuild the old ruins, They shall raise up the former desolations, And they shall repair the ruined cities, The desolations of many generations. Isaiah 61:3 NKJV To console those who mourn in Zion, To give them beauty for ashes, The oil of joy for mourning, The garment of praise for the spirit of heaviness; That they may be called trees of righteousness, The planting of the Lord, that He may be glorified.” 4. PUT IT ON Garment → something you put on intentionally Praise → expressed trust and gratitude toward God Spirit of heaviness → oppression, grief, despair, weariness. He Made Peace

Isaiah 9:6–7 NKJV For unto us a Child is born, Unto us a Son is given; And the government will be upon His shoulder. And His name will be called Wonderful, Counselor, Mighty God, Everlasting Father, Prince of Peace. 7 Of the increase of His government and peace There will be no end, Upon the throne of David and over His kingdom, To order it and establish it with judgment and justice From that time forward, even forever. The zeal of the Lord of hosts will perform this. This day marks the moment when: • Hope, redemption, and peace entered the world Jehovah-shalom, “The Lord Our Peace,” 1. Completeness, safety, soundness welfare, health, prosperity, peace, quiet, tranquillity, contentment. 2. Peace, friendship with God & man. Peace (from war) PEACE WITH GOD Ephesians 2:14–18 NKJV For He Himself is our peace, who has made both one, and has broken down the middle wall of separation, 15 having abolished in His flesh the enmity, that is, the law of commandments contained in ordinances, so as to create in Himself one new man from the two, thus making peace, 16 and that He might reconcile them both to God in one body through the cross, thereby putting to death the enmity. 17 And He came and preached peace to you who were afar off and to those who were near. 18 For through Him we both have access by one Spirit to the Father. Romans 5:1–2 NKJV Therefore, having been justified by faith, we have peace with God through our Lord Jesus Christ, 2 through whom also we have access by faith into this grace in which we stand, and rejoice in hope of the glory of God. PEACE WITH OTHERS Galatians 5:22–23, NKJV But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, longsuffering, kindness, goodness, faithfulness, 23 gentleness, self-control. Romans 12:18 NKJV If it is possible, as much as depends on you, live peaceably with all men. Ephesians 4:1–3 NKJV therefore, the prisoner of the Lord, beseech you to walk worthy of the calling with which you were called, 2 with all lowliness and gentleness, with longsuffering, bearing with one another in love, 3 endeavoring to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace. He made peace with us, it’s time we make peace with others. Revelation 12:10 NKJV Then I heard a loud voice saying in heaven, ‘Now salvation, and strength, and the kingdom of our God, and the power of His Christ have come, for the accuser of our brethren, who accused them before our God day and night, has been cast down.’” PEACE WITH MYSELF Romans 8:1 NKJV There is therefore now no condemnation to those who are in Christ Jesus… If God does not condemn you, you are not authorized to condemn yourself. CONCLUSION Colossians 3:12–17 NKJV Therefore, as the elect of God, holy and beloved, put on tender mercies, kindness, humility, meekness, longsuffering; 13 bearing with one another, and forgiving one another, if anyone has a complaint against another; even as Christ forgave you, so you also must do. 14 But above all these things put on love, which is the bond of perfection. 15 And let the peace of God rule in your hearts, to which also you were called in one body; and be thankful. 16 Let the word of Christ dwell in you richly in all wisdom, teaching and admonishing one another in psalms and hymns and spiritual songs, singing with grace in your hearts to the Lord. 17 And whatever you do in word or deed, do all in the name of the Lord Jesus, giving thanks to God the Father through Him. Never Alone

1. YOU ARE NEVER ALONE Psalm 139:1–12 TPT Lord, you know everything there is to know about me. 2 You perceive every movement of my heart and soul, and you understand my every thought before it even enters my mind. 3–4 You are so intimately aware of me, Lord. You read my heart like an open book and you know all the words I’m about to speak before I even start a sentence! You know every step I will take before my journey even begins. 5 You’ve gone into my future to prepare the way, and in kindness you follow behind me to spare me from the harm of my past. With your hand of love upon my life, you impart a blessing to me. 6 This is just too wonderful, deep, and incomprehensible! Your understanding of me brings me wonder and strength. 7 Where could I go from your Spirit? Where could I run and hide from your face? 8 If I go up to heaven, you’re there! If I go down to the realm of the dead, you’re there too! 9 If I fly with wings into the shining dawn, you’re there! If I fly into the radiant sunset, you’re there waiting! 10 Wherever I go, your hand will guide me; your strength will empower me. 11 It’s impossible to disappear from you or to ask the darkness to hide me, for your presence is everywhere, bringing light into my night. 12 There is no such thing as darkness with you. The night, to you, is as bright as the day; there’s no difference between the two. God Understands Loneliness Jesus Himself experienced loneliness: • abandoned by friends • misunderstood by family • alone in Gethsemane • forsaken at the cross Because Jesus experienced loneliness, He can comfort us in ours. 2. OUR DEEPEST NEED IS EMMANUEL Loneliness Reminds Us of Our Deepest Need: Emmanuel Matthew 1:22–23 NKJV So all this was done that it might be fulfilled which was spoken by the Lord through the prophet, saying: 23 “Behold, the virgin shall be with child, and bear a Son, and they shall call His name Immanuel,” which is translated, “God with us.” Psalm 68:5-6 TPT To the fatherless he is a father. To the widow he is a champion friend. To the lonely he gives a family. To the prisoners he leads into prosperity until they sing for joy. This is our Holy God in his Holy Place! Isaiah 41:10 NKJV Fear not, for I am with you; Be not dismayed, for I am your God. I will strengthen you, Yes, I will help you, I will uphold you with My righteous right hand.’ 3. BE THE ANSWER “You can have everything in life you want if you will just help enough other people get what they want.” – Zig Ziglar Serving Others breaks the cycle of isolation. Practical acts of kindness release oxytocin and reduce symptoms of loneliness. Galatians 6:2 NKJV Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfill the law of Christ. 4. STAY CONNECTED • Join a Church and attend service weekly. • reaching out to one person daily • attend a small group • scheduling time with others instead of waiting to be invited • Reach out to one person rather than waiting to be invited • Find small moments of connection • Lean into the hope of Emmanuel Hebrews 10:24–25 NKJV And let us consider one another in order to stir up love and good works, 25 not forsaking the assembling of ourselves together, as is the manner of some, but exhorting one another, and so much the more as you see the Day approaching. It is Good to Give Thanks

IT IS GOOD TO GIVE THANKS Psalm 92:1–2, NKJV It is good to give thanks to the Lord, And to sing praises to Your name, O Most High; 2 To declare Your lovingkindness in the morning, And Your faithfulness every night, A landmark study from the University of Southern California (USC, 2015) found that when people experience or express gratitude, it activates the: • Medial prefrontal cortex (decision-making + social bonding) • Anterior cingulate cortex (empathy + emotional connection Meaning: When you say “thank you” with sincerity, your brain literally turns on the circuits that build trust, closeness, and emotional connection. A study from the University of North Carolina found that expressing gratitude to a partner increases oxytocin levels in BOTH people — the giver and the receiver. Gratitude increases oxytocin, the hormone associated with: • bonding • trust • emotional closeness • relationship strengthening Saying “thank you” actually releases the same hormone a mother releases when bonding with a newborn. A study from the University of California, San Diego (UCSD) found that daily gratitude practices: • lower blood pressure • reduce stress hormones • calm the nervous system Saying “thank you” doesn’t just heal relationships — it heals you. Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. Hebrews 13:15 NKJV Therefore by Him let us continually offer the sacrifice of praise to God, that is, the fruit of our lips, giving thanks to His name. Psalm 91:1–2 NKJV He who dwells in the secret place of the Most High Shall abide under the shadow of the Almighty. 2 I will say of the Lord, “He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.” MY REFUGE My Refuge- refuge, shelter; — absolute – from rain and store Genesis 2:8–9 NKJV The Lord God planted a garden eastward in Eden, and there He put the man whom He had formed. 9 And out of the ground the Lord God made every tree grow that is pleasant to the sight and good for food. MY FORTRESS Root Word – “to hunt to capture, To lay hold of to secure something. • A stronghold • A place of defense or protection • A secure place that cannot be easily invaded • A high, inaccessible refuge • or a protected place where one is safe from enemies and danger. The idea is that God Himself becomes your inaccessible defense, your safe place where nothing can reach you. He is the One who surrounds, secures, and defends you. Psalm 91:2 NKJV will say of the LORD, ‘He is my refuge and my fortress; My God, in Him I will trust.’” MY GOD My Mighty God My Powerful One The One who rules over all The One who fights for me The God who is personally mine IN HIM I WILL TRUST Psalm 103:1–5 NKJV 1 Bless the Lord, O my soul; And all that is within me, bless His holy name! 2 Bless the Lord, O my soul, And forget not all His benefits: 3 Who forgives all your iniquities, Who heals all your diseases, 4 Who redeems your life from destruction, Who crowns you with lovingkindness and tender mercies, 5 Who satisfies your mouth with good things, So that your youth is renewed like the eagle’s The post It is Good to Give Thanks first appeared on Covenant Life Church.

The Power Test

“Can God trust you with power without it corrupting you?” INTRODUCTION The Power Test examines how we respond when God elevates us—when He gives us authority, influence, and success. Joseph’s journey shows why God blessed him: He was faithful in every season— • as a servant, • as a prisoner, • and finally as a ruler. Genesis 41:37–45 NKJV …40 You shall be over my house, and all my people shall be ruled according to your word; only in regard to the throne will I be greater than you.” 41 And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “See, I have set you over all the land of Egypt… 1. POWER REVEALS THE HEART Power doesn’t change people—it reveals who they already are. Joseph’s promotion exposed: • His humility • His forgiveness • His God-centered heart • His refusal to retaliate Genesis 50:17–21 NKJV …21 Now therefore, do not be afraid; I will provide for you and your little ones.” And he comforted them and spoke kindly to them. Joseph used power to heal, not harm—proof of a heart shaped by God. 2. POWER IS FOR SERVING PEOPLE, NOT ELEVATING SELF Biblical power is stewardship, not status. Joseph used his authority to preserve a nation and save his family. God promotes leaders who serve those they lead. Jesus embodies this perfectly. John 13:1 NKJV Now before the Feast of the Passover, when Jesus knew that His hour had come that He should depart from this world to the Father, having loved His own who were in the world, He loved them to the end. John 13:12–15 NKJV So when He had washed their feet, taken His garments, and sat down again, He said to them, “Do you know what I have done to you? 13 You call Me Teacher and Lord, and you say well, for so I am. 14 If I then, your Lord and Teacher, have washed your feet, you also ought to wash one another’s feet. 15 For I have given you an example, that you should do as I have done to you.” In the world: power = privilege In the Kingdom: power = responsibility 3. PROMOTION COMES FROM GOD ALONE God can lift someone from the prison to the palace in a single day. • God is the source of all influence. • God is the One who appoints and exalts. • Our responsibility is to be faithful. Leaders who empower others receive greater power from God. Ephesians 4:12–13 AMP His intention was the perfecting and the full equipping of the saints (His consecrated people), [that they should do] the work of ministering toward building up Christ’s body (the church), 13 [That it might develop] until we all attain oneness in the faith and in the comprehension of the [full and accurate] knowledge of the Son of God, that [we might arrive] at really mature manhood (the completeness of personality which is nothing less than the standard height of Christ’s own perfection), the measure of the stature of the fullness of the Christ and the completeness found in Him. 4. TRUE POWER REQUIRES ACCOUNTABILITY Joseph remained: • Submitted to Pharaoh • Connected to God • Anchored in humility and integrity Authority without accountability becomes dangerous. Power must always flow through: • Humility • Integrity • Wise counsel • Teachability The Power Test teaches that influence is given to fulfill God’s purpose, not to build our own platform. Leaders who steward authority well become vessels God can trust with destinies. ACTION-ITEM HOMEWORK 1. Serve Someone This Week Choose a practical act of service—no credit, no spotlight, no “look at me.” 2. Empower Someone—Delegate a responsibility or opportunity to someone who needs to grow. Help them succeed. 3. Conduct a Heart Check—Ask the Holy Spirit: “Is there any pride, insecurity, or self-promotion in my leadership?” Write down what He shows you. 4. Choose Accountability—Share one area of leadership or decision-making with a spiritual mentor or overseer. Invite feedback and correction. Walking in the Spirit

Take action Galatians very plainly tells us how to confront the problems we encounter with our flesh. Galatians 5:16 KJV “This I say then, Walk in the Spirit, and ye shall not fulfill the lust of the flesh.” Galatians 5:16 NLT “So I say, let the Holy Spirit guide your lives. Then you won’t be doing what your sinful nature craves.” It’s not enough to try to not do what we shouldn’t do.  We must be occupied doing what we should do. 1 Corinthians 13:1 NKJV “Though I speak with the tongues of men and of angels, but have not love, I have become sounding brass or a clanging cymbal.” Ephesians 3:16 AMPC “May He grant you out of the rich treasury of His glory to be strengthened and reinforced with mighty power in the inner man by the [Holy] Spirit [Himself indwelling your innermost being and personality].” The more from God we want, the more we have to get ourselves out of the way. Whenever God wants to bring us into something, we have to _____ ____ of something else. The choice is yours.  You’re constantly sowing. Galatians 6:7-8 AMPC “Do not be deceived and deluded and misled; God will not allow Himself to be sneered at (scorned, disdained, or mocked [a]by mere pretensions or professions, or by His precepts being set aside.) [He inevitably deludes himself who attempts to delude God.] For whatever a man sows, that and [b]that only is what he will reap. For he who sows to his own flesh (lower nature, sensuality) will from the flesh reap decay and ruin and destruction, but he who sows to the Spirit will from the Spirit reap eternal life.” Life is all about making the decision that you’re gonna sow to the spirit and not to the flesh. You’ll never become so spiritual that your flesh never gives you any trouble. Sow to the _______ and you’ll reap life. Sow to the _______ and you’ll reap ruin, decay, destruction. The decision is ours and we’re making that decision several times, every day, as long as we live. Depend on God and allow Him to work in your life. Revelation 3:19 AMPC Those whom I [dearly and tenderly] love, I tell their faults and convict and convince and reprove and chasten [I discipline and instruct them]. So be enthusiastic and in earnest and burning with zeal and repent [changing your mind and attitude]. Behold, I stand at the door and knock; if anyone hears and listens to and heeds My voice and opens the door, I will come in to him and will eat with him, and he [will eat] with Me. He who overcomes (is victorious), I will grant him to sit beside Me on My throne, as I Myself overcame (was victorious) and sat down beside My Father on His throne. Which door in your life is God knocking at? The door of your time? The door of your attitude?  How about the door of wrong friendships? Matthew 26:41 “Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation. The spirit is willing, but the flesh is weak.” God can use your situation to make you a better believer. It’s already out of your control so you just have to __________ how you’re gonna respond. It helps to ask God for His help. Be patient with the process. We have to allow God to prepare us for the dreams and desires we have. How you act in the ___________ matters. We’re not ready to have a thing until we can be happy _________ it. God wants us to have as much as we can handle. James 1:2-4 AMPC “Consider it wholly joyful, my brethren, whenever you are enveloped in or encounter trials of any sort or fall into various temptations. Be assured and understand that the trial and proving of your faith bring out endurance and steadfastness and patience. But let endurance and steadfastness and patience have full play and do a thorough work, so that you may be [people] perfectly and fully developed [with no defects], lacking in nothing.” When you got born again, you received the __________ of God and all of its fruit into your spirit. It just has to be ______________. The post Walking in the Spirit first appeared on Covenant Life Church.

The Purity Test

Genesis 39:1–10 (NKJV) …7 And it came to pass after these things that his master’s wife cast longing eyes on Joseph, and she said, “Lie with me.” Purity Defined • The condition or quality of being free from contamination, corruption, or mixture — morally, spiritually, or physically. • Living with undivided devotion to God — keeping your heart clean from sin, your motives right, and your life aligned with His Word. 1. TEMPTATION ALWAYS COMES BEFORE PROMOTION Joseph’s temptation wasn’t just _____________; it was _________l. The enemy wanted to derail his purpose before his season of influence. If Satan can’t get you with pride, he’ll try to get you with impurity. 1 Peter 5:8 (AMC) Be well balanced (temperate, sober of mind), be vigilant and cautious at all times; for that enemy of yours, the devil, roams around like a lion roaring [in fierce hunger], seeking someone to seize upon and devour. 2. KEEP THE DOOR CLOSED Yielding to temptation opens the door to sin. Temptation itself isn’t sin — yielding to it is. When we __________ with the thought instead of ___________ it, it triggers a spiritual chain reaction: 1. Desire – the thought enters. 2. Deception – we justify or entertain it. 3. Disobedience – we act on it. 4. Death – it leads to separation and destruction. James 1:13–15 (NKJV) Let no one say when he is tempted, “I am tempted by God”; for God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He Himself tempt anyone. 14 But each one is tempted when he is drawn away by his own desires and enticed. 15 Then, when desire has conceived, it gives birth to sin; and sin, when it is full-grown, brings forth death. 3. PURITY IS ABOUT CHARACTER Not Just Conduct True purity isn’t just avoiding outward sin — it’s maintaining a pure heart and motive before God. Joseph didn’t resist Potiphar’s wife out of fear, but out of reverence for God. “How then can I do this great wickedness, and sin against God?” — Genesis 39:9 Joseph’s moral compass was rooted in _______________, not religion. 4. THE REAL TEST What do you do when no one is ______________ Joseph was alone. He could have easily justified compromise — no one would have known. Hebrews 4:13 (NKJV) And there is no creature hidden from His sight, but all things are naked and open to the eyes of Him to whom we must give account. Purity is proven in ___________ decisions, not public ones. Private purity always precedes public promotion. 5. PURITY PROTECTS GOD’S PRESENCE When we walk in purity, we guard the sense of God’s presence and favor in our lives. Genesis 39:2 (NKJV) The Lord was with Joseph, and he was a successful man; and he was in the house of his master the Egyptian. 6. PURITY POSITIONS YOU FOR DESTINY Every destiny requires discipline. God will not promote what He cannot trust. Purity isn’t about perfection; it’s about a ___________ pattern of obedience and repentance. When we choose purity, we choose long-term blessing over short-term gratification. Psalm 119:9–11 (NKJV) How can a young man cleanse his way? By taking heed according to Your word. With my whole heart I have sought You; Oh, let me not wander from Your commandments! Your word I have hidden in my heart, That I might not sin against You. STEP #1 – Guard Your Gates This week, be intentional about what you allow into your heart and mind through your eyes, ears, and conversations. Ask yourself daily: “Is what I’m watching, listening to, or saying drawing me closer to God or dulling my sensitivity to His presence?” STEP #2 – Make a Pre-Decision Before temptation comes, decide in advance where you stand. Write down one area where you’ve been tempted to compromise and declare your conviction out loud: “I choose to honor God in this area, even when no one is watching.” STEP #3 – Hide the Word in Your Heart Memorize Psalm 119:9–11 or another verse on purity. Spend a few minutes each day meditating on it and praying, “Lord, let Your Word cleanse my thoughts and guide my choices.” STEP #4 – Practice Private Integrity Do one thing this week that no one else will see — an act of honesty, kindness, or obedience — simply because you know God sees it. I Will Arise

Micah 7:8 NKJV Do not rejoice over me, my enemy; When I fall, I will arise; When I sit in darkness, The Lord will be a light to me.” Genesis 37:20 NKJV “Come therefore, let us now kill him and cast him into some pit; and we shall say, ‘Some wild beast has devoured him.’ We shall see what will become of his dreams!” 1. IT MATTERS WHAT YOU BELIEVE “Faith begins where the will of God is known.” God’s ________ is His _______. Find the promises that cover your situation. Read them, meditate on them, and get them down in your spirit. Romans 10:17 NKJV “So then faith comes by hearing, and hearing by the Word of God.” Psalm 40:1–2 NKJV “I waited patiently for the Lord; and He inclined to me, and heard my cry. He also brought me up out of a horrible pit, Out of the miry clay, And set my feet upon a rock, And established my steps.” Hebrew Word Study: Crying — Shav‘ah (שַׁו ְﬠָה) — Strong’s H7775 – To cry out for help, to plead, or to call earnestly — especially in distress or deep need. – It’s a faith-filled cry, not hopeless, but trusting that God will respond. LET’S LOOK AT THE WILL OF GOD FOR YOU Psalm 37:23–24 NKJV “The steps of a good man are ordered by the Lord, And He delights in his way. Though he fall, he shall not be utterly cast down; For the Lord upholds him with His hand.” Proverbs 24:16 NKJV “For a righteous man may fall seven times and rise again, But the wicked shall fall by calamity.” 12. WHAT ARE YOU MAGNIFYING? Don’t magnify the pit — magnify the Word. Too many believers talk more about the _________ than the ___________. What you ___________ grows! You can either magnify your pit or magnify your Deliverer! Psalm 34:3 (NKJV) “Oh, magnify the Lord with me, and let us exalt His name together.” Praise brings you out faster than pity ever will. Acts 16:25–26 (NKJV) “But at midnight Paul and Silas were praying and singing hymns to God… Suddenly there was a great earthquake… and immediately all the doors were opened.” When you praise in the pit, God prepares your promotion. 3. THIS IS TEMPORARY “No weapon formed against me shall prosper.” — Isaiah 54:17 You have to look past your pit! Keep an ___________ perspective 2 Corinthians 4:18 NKJV While we do not look at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen. For the things which are seen are temporary, But the things which are not seen are eternal.” This reminds us to fix our eyes not on our current circumstances — which are fleeting — but on the unseen promises of God, which are everlasting. Question: What have you been saying? Job 22:28 NKJV “You will also declare a thing, And it will be established for you; So light will shine on your ways.” What you ___________ in faith becomes established — and His light, guidance, and favor will shine on your path. Romans 4:17–21 NKJV “(As it is written, ‘I have made you a father of many nations’) in the presence of Him whom he believed—God, who gives life to the dead and calls those things which do not exist as though they did…. You don’t wait to feel out of the pit — you believe out of the pit. When you believe you receive, heaven goes to work on your behalf. Mark 11:24 NKJV “Whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them.” GOD WILL TURN IT AROUND FOR YOUR BENEFIT Genesis 50:20 NKJV “But as for you, you meant evil against me; But God meant it for good, In order to bring it about as it is this day, To save many people alive.” Even when others meant __________, God had a higher __________. REMEMBER: Your pit is not punishment it’s preparation. When you fall, you will arise, and your testimony will lift others out too. 3STEP #1 Speak Faith Daily, Not the Pit Each morning, declare: “I will arise! God is bringing me out stronger!” Write down one Scripture that declares victory and speak it out loud throughout the week. (Ex. Micah 7:8, Psalm 40:2, or Mark 11:24) STEP #2 Magnify God, Not the Problem Every time you’re tempted to complain, stop and praise instead. Write down 3 things God has already done for you — and thank Him for each one. Remember: Worship changes your atmosphere faster than worry ever will. STEP #3 See Beyond the Temporary Take 5 minutes each day to meditate on 2 Corinthians 4:18. Focus on what’s unseen and eternal. Focus on your dream and the destiny God has for your life. Imagine what it looks like to be walking in His plan. Dream about it, see it in your mind, and believe it into existence. STEP #4 Help Someone Else Up Look for one person this week who feels “in a pit.” Encourage them, pray for them, or share your testimony of how God lifted you. When you help someone else arise, your own faith rises higher too. The post I Will Arise first appeared on Covenant Life Church.

The Pit Test

The Place Between The Promise & The Palace Today, we’re focusing on how we respond when life doesn’t go as planned—when everything seems to fall apart without reason. Genesis 37:18–28 NKJV …23 So it came to pass, when Joseph had come to his brothers, that they stripped Joseph of his tunic, the tunic of many colors that was on him. 24 Then they took him and cast him into a pit. And the pit was empty; there was no water in it. The pit represents those seasons when: Things suddenly fall apart, We feel rejected, forgotten, or betrayed, And it seems like the dream God gave us is now impossible. The pit _________ the condition of our ______ —especially how we handle pain, rejection, and betrayal—before God can trust us with greater influence or promotion. Your _____ today can become your __________ tomorrow. 1. EVERYONE WILL FACE A PIT Pits are the low places of life—times of disappointment, rejection, betrayal, financial struggle, or failure. But the pit doesn’t mean God has ___________ you. Romans 8:28 NKJV And we know that all things work together for good to those who love God, to those who are the called according to His purpose. 2. PITS REVEAL WHAT’S IN OUR HEART The dream reveals your ________, but the pit reveals your _______. Psalm 105:17–19 NKJV He sent a man before them—Joseph—who was sold as a slave. They hurt his feet with fetters; he was laid in irons. Until the time that his word came to pass, the word of the Lord tested him. 1 Peter 1:6–7 NKJV In this you greatly rejoice, though now for a little while, if need be, you have been grieved by various trials, that the genuineness of your faith… may be found to praise, honor, and glory at the revelation of Jesus Christ. What comes out of us when we’re squeezed in the pit—bitterness or trust—reveals what’s truly inside. Many people fail the pit test by blaming others, becoming bitter, or doubting God’s goodness. God wants us to _____ ____ even when we don’t understand what going on. “God doesn’t test us to find out what’s in our heart—He already knows. He tests us so that we can see what’s in ____ _____. 3. DON’T LET BITTERNESS TAKE ROOT Proverbs 4:23 NKJV Keep your heart with all diligence, for out of it spring the issues of life. The condition of your heart determines the direction of your destiny—if it’s _______ by unforgiveness, you’ll remain in the pit. The temptation to become resentful toward those who hurt us is __________ in the pit. Hebrews 12:15 NKJV Looking carefully lest anyone fall short of the grace of God; lest any root of bitterness springing up cause trouble, and by this many become defiled. Watch your heart closely. A “root of bitterness” refers to deep-seated resentment or unforgiveness that, if left unchecked, grows like a root and spreads—affecting not only you but everyone around you. Guard your heart against bitterness. Make a conscious decision to forgive those who wronged you. Remember: holding a grudge keeps you in the pit, not them. When you hold on to bitterness, you stay in the pit. When you forgive, God lifts you out. Unforgiveness keeps us _______ where we are; forgiveness allows God to _____ ____ forward. STEP #1 Reflect on Your Response Take time this week to identify an area in your life where you feel “stuck in a pit.” Ask yourself honestly: How am I responding— with trust or with frustration? “Search me, O God, and know my heart…” — Psalm 139:23–24 Goal: Let God reveal what’s in your heart during hard seasons. STEP #2 Release Those Who Hurt You Write down the names of anyone you may still feel bitterness or resentment toward. Pray over that list and make a conscious decision to forgive them, even if your feelings haven’t caught up yet. “Be kind to one another, tenderhearted, forgiving one another, even as God in Christ forgave you.” — Ephesians 4:31–32 Goal: Uproot bitterness and invite freedom into your heart. STEP #3 Reaffirm Your Trust in God Every morning this week, speak this declaration aloud: “Lord, even when I don’t understand, I trust that You are working all things together for my good.” — Romans 8:28 Goal: Build spiritual endurance and strengthen trust during uncertainty. STEP #4 Respond with Faith, Not Feelings Ask yourself: Am I responding out of faith or out of feelings? Journal or share with a friend how your going to respond to the setback in your destiny. Choose to act based on what you know God has promised — not on what you see or feel in the moment. “For we walk by faith, not by sight.” — 2 Corinthians 5:7 Goal: Develop spiritual maturity by trusting God’s Word above your emotions, even when you’re still in the pit. Nothing to Prove

Genesis 37:5–8 (NKJV) Now Joseph had a dream, and he told it to his brothers; and they hated him even more. 6 So he said to them, “Please hear this dream which I have dreamed: 7 There we were, binding sheaves in the field. Then behold, my sheaf arose and also stood upright; and indeed your sheaves stood all around and bowed down to my sheaf.” 8 And his brothers said to him, “Shall you indeed reign over us? Or shall you indeed have dominion over us?” So they hated him even more for his dreams and for his words. What was Joseph’s _____________ in sharing his dream? Joseph had a dream from God, but he wasn’t yet ready for the ____________ his dream required — because character must precede promotion.” 1. THE ORIGINAL SIN: PRIDE Pride was the first sin in the universe — Satan’s attempt to rise above God. That same spirit of self-exaltation is what Scripture warns against in every believer. Isaiah 14:12–15 (NKJV) “How you are fallen from heaven, O Lucifer, son of the morning! How you are cut down to the ground, You who weakened the nations! For you have said in your heart: ‘I will ascend into heaven, I will exalt my throne above the stars of God; I will also sit on the mount of the congregation On the farthest sides of the north; I will ascend above the heights of the clouds, I will be like the Most High.’ Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, To the lowest depths of the Pit.” The Five “I Will” Statements of Pride 1. “I will ascend into heaven” — Desire for position. 2. “I will exalt my throne above the stars of God” — Desire for authority. 3. “I will sit on the mount of the congregation” — Desire for recognition and rule. 4. “I will ascend above the heights of the clouds” — Desire for glory. 5. “I will be like the Most High” — Desire for deity. This is the heart of pride — self-exaltation and independence from God. Pride __________ you from God’s Grace. Definition of Pride: Arrogance, haughtiness, self-exaltation. An attitude of superiority — showing oneself above others. Literally means “to appear above” — to think or present oneself as greater than others or even greater than God. Pride is dangerous because it positions a person in direct _____________ to God’s nature. 1 John 2:15–16 (NKJV) Do not love the world or the things in the world. If anyone loves the world, the love of the Father is not in him. For all that is in the world — the lust of the flesh, the lust of the eyes, and the pride of life is not of the Father but is of the world. James 4:6, 10 (NKJV) “But He gives more grace. Therefore He says: ‘God resists the proud, But gives grace to the humble.’” Humble yourselves in the sight of the Lord, and He will lift you up.” 2. HUMILITY POSITIONS YOU FOR PROMOTION 1 Peter 5:5–6 (NKJV) Likewise you younger people, submit yourselves to your elders. Yes, all of you be submissive to one another, and be clothed with humility, for ‘God resists the proud, but gives grace to the humble.’ Therefore humble yourselves under the mighty hand of God, that He may exalt you in due time. Definition of Humility • Lowly in mind, modest, not rising far from the ground. • Having a humble opinion of oneself; acknowledging one’s dependence on God. • An inner attitude of submission and meekness before God — not self-degradation, but recognition that every good thing comes from Him. • A conscious dependence on God and an attitude of meekness toward others. • Choosing lowliness of heart over self-exaltation. • It is not weakness, but strength under submission — mirroring the attitude of Christ Himself. Matthew 23:12 (NKJV) And whoever exalts himself will be humbled, and he who humbles himself will be exalted. 3. PRIDE IS MAN LIFTING HIMSELF UP; HUMILITY IS GOD LIFTING YOU UP Genesis 41:14–16 (NKJV) Then Pharaoh sent and called Joseph, and they brought him quickly out of the dungeon; and he shaved, changed his clothing, and came to Pharaoh. And Pharaoh said to Joseph, “I have had a dream, and there is no one who can interpret it. But I have heard it said of you that you can understand a dream, to interpret it.” So Joseph answered Pharaoh, saying, “It is not in me; God will give Pharaoh an answer of peace.” Joseph went from the pit to the palace because he learned _____________, not ________________. Philippians 2:5–10 (NKJV) Let this mind be in you which was also in Christ Jesus, who, being in the form of God, did not consider it robbery to be equal with God, but made Himself of no reputation, taking the form of a bondservant, and coming in the likeness of men. And being found in appearance as a man, He humbled Himself and became obedient to the point of death — even the death of the cross. Therefore God also has highly exalted Him and given Him the name which is above every name, that at the name of Jesus every knee should bow, of those in heaven, and of those on earth, and of those under the earth. Matthew 11:28–30 (NKJV) Come to Me, all you who labor and are heavy laden, and I will give you rest. Take My yoke upon you and learn from Me, for I am gentle and lowly in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For My yoke is easy and My burden is light.” The post Nothing to Prove first appeared on Covenant Life Church.

Dream Forward

Introduction Purpose: God places dreams in our hearts to align us with His purpose and plan for our lives. The Goal is to help you get from where you are to where God has created you to be. A dream is often a spark—an initial impression or desire God places in your heart. A dream from God is a seed of vision—a glimpse of His purpose for your life. Genesis 37:1-11 NIV Jacob lived in the land where his father had stayed, the land of Canaan. 2 This is the account of Jacob’s family line.Joseph, a young man of seventeen, was tending the flocks with his brothers, the sons of Bilhah and the sons of Zilpah, his father’s wives, and he (Joseph) brought their father a bad report about them. 3 Now Israel loved Joseph more than any of his other sons, because he had been born to him in his old age; and he made an ornate robe for him. 4 When his brothers saw that their father loved him more than any of them, they hated him and could not speak a kind word to him. 5 Joseph had a dream, and when he told it to his brothers, they hated him all the more. 6 He said to them, “Listen to this dream I had: 7 We were binding sheaves of grain out in the field when suddenly my sheaf rose and stood upright, while your sheaves gathered around mine and bowed down to it.” 8 His brothers said to him, “Do you intend to reign over us? Will you actually rule us?” And they hated him all the more because of his dream and what he had said. 9 Then he had another dream, and he told it to his brothers. “Listen,” he said, “I had another dream, and this time the sun and moon and eleven stars were bowing down to me.” 10 When he told his father as well as his brothers, his father rebuked him and said, “What is this dream you had? Will your mother and I and your brothers actually come and bow down to the ground before you?” 11 His brothers were jealous of him, but his father kept the matter in mind. Question: What’s your dream? What vision has God placed in your heart? 1. GOD HAS A DREAM FOR YOU God is the author of dreams, planting unique purposes in each of us. Gods dream for your life is better than your dream! Why? God is far bigger and far better than you How Can I Know His dream for my Life? 1God is the _____________ of dreams. A dream from God will always _________ others, not just ourselves. Dreams reveal purpose, not process. God shows us the end result, but not the ________ or _________. That comes as you follow the master. The dream is often exciting at first—but requires humility and maturity to sustain. Your ________ to your dream determines your destiny. Many people never see their destiny because they give up when the dream is ____________. Jeremiah 29:11 NIV For I know the plans I have for you,’ declares the Lord, ‘plans to prosper you and not to harm you, plans to give you hope and a future.’” Application: Trust that God has a specific dream for your life, even if it’s not yet clear. 2. HOW TO FIND THE DREAM Ephesians 2:10, TPT We have become his poetry, a re-created people that will fulfill the destiny he has given each of us, for we are joined to Jesus, the Anointed One. Even before we were born, God planned in advance our destiny and the good works we would do to fulfill it! Ephesians 2:10, AMP For we are God’s [own] handiwork (His workmanship), recreated in Christ Jesus, [born anew] that we may do those good works which God predestined (planned beforehand) for us [taking paths which He prepared ahead of time], that we should walk in them [living the good life which He prearranged and made ready for us to live]. If you’d like to get to know God’s dream for your life, get to know God! Ask: Boldly ask God to reveal His purpose for you. James 1:5 NIV If any of you lacks wisdom, you should ask God, who gives generously to all without finding fault, and it will be given to you.” Numbers 12:6-8 NIV he said, “Listen to my words:“When there is a prophet among you,I, the Lord, reveal myself to them in visions, I speak to them in dreams. 7 But this is not true of my servant Moses; he is faithful in all my house. 8 With him I speak face to face, clearly and not in riddles…. Seek: Actively pursue God’s presence through prayer and His Word. Psalm 37:4-5 NKJV Delight yourself also in the Lord, And He shall give you the desires of your heart. 5 Commit your way to the Lord,Trust also in Him,And He shall bring it to past. Fast: set aside time to fast & hear God’s voice more clearly. Listen: Be still and attentive to God’s voice through the Holy Spirit, circumstances, or wise counsel. John 10:27 NIV My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me.” 3. INDICATORS OF GOD’S DREAM What _______ or causes make you come alive? What did you ___________ about as a child? Childhood dreams often hint at God’s calling. God’s dream for you often aligns with your passions, childhood aspirations, and life’s deepest desires. At the end of your life, what would you wish you had achieved? Reflect on your legacy. When you’re doing something, how does it make you _______? • Excited: A sense of joy and anticipation. • Motivated: A drive to keep going despite challenges. • Energized: A supernatural strength to pursue the task. Application: Journal your answers to these questions and look for patterns that point to God’s dream. 4. TAKE THE FIRST STEP Dreams require action, faith, and perseverance. Peace for the Soul

PEACE FOR THE SOUL 3 John 2 NKJV Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 1. THE ENVIRONMENT OF HEAVEN Psalm 23:1–6, NKJV 1 The Lord is my shepherd; I shall not want. 2 He makes me to lie down in green pastures; He leads me beside the still waters. 3 He restores my soul; He leads me in the paths of righteousness For His name’s sake. 4 Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death, I will fear no evil; For You are with me; Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me. 5 You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies; You anoint my head with oil; My cup runs over.  6 Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me All the days of my life; And I will dwell in the house of the Lord Forever. John 10:11 NKJV “I am the good shepherd. The good shepherd gives His life for the sheep. 2. JESUS IS PEACE John 14:27 NKJV Peace I leave with you, My peace I give to you; not as the world gives do I give to you. Let not your heart be troubled, neither let it be afraid John 16:33 These things I have spoken to you, that in Me you may have peace. In the world you will have tribulation; but be of good cheer, I have overcome the world.” Isaiah 53:5 NKJV But He was wounded for our transgressions, He was bruised for our iniquities; The chastisement for our peace was upon Him, And by His stripes we are healed. Colossians 1:20 and by Him to reconcile all things to Himself, by Him, whether things on earth or things in heaven, having made peace through the blood of His cross. Psalm 55:18 He has redeemed my soul in peace from the battle that was against me, For there were many against me. Shalom- Peace Hebrew 1. Completeness, soundness, welfare, peace 2. Completeness (in number) 3. Safety, soundness (in body) 4. Welfare, health, prosperity 5. Peace, quiet, tranquillity, contentment 6. Peace, friendship 7. Peace (from war) The Greek equivalent for the Hebrew word shalom, which expresses the idea of wholeness, completeness, or tranquility in the soul that is unaffected by outward circumstances or pressures. The word eirene strongly suggests the rule of order in place of chaos. When a person is dominated by (“peace”), he has a calm, inner stability that results in the ability to conduct himself peacefully, even in the midst of circumstances that would normally be very nerve- racking, traumatic, or upsetting. 3. OUR UMPIRE Philippians 4:6-7 NKJV Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication, with thanksgiving, let your requests be made known to God; 7 and the peace of God, which surpasses all understanding, will guard your hearts and minds through Christ Jesus. 4. OUR POSITION IN LIFE Ephesians 6:13 says “having done all to stand”(firmly in your place). Isaiah 26:3 NKJV You will keep him in perfect peace, Whose mind is stayed on You, Because he trusts in You. Romans 15:13 Now may the God of hope fill you with all joy and peace in believing, that you may abound in hope by the power of the Holy Spirit. Psalm 119:165 NKJV Great peace have those who love Your law, And nothing causes them to stumble. The post Peace for the Soul first appeared on Covenant Life Church.

Thought Management

2 Corinthians 10:4-6 NKJV For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, 6 and being ready to punish all disobedience when your obedience is fulfilled. TEARING DOWN STRONGHOLDS The Greek Word Stronghold → ochyrōma (ὀχύρωμα, Strong’s Literal meaning: – A fortress, castle, or prison; a strongly fortified place. – A strongly held mindset, belief system, or pattern of thought that is resistant to God’s truth. In Greek, ochyrōma = fortress, prison, or strong defense. Spiritually, it refers to entrenched patterns of thinking and lies that resist God’s truth—mental or spiritual “fortresses” that need to be demolished by God’s Word and Spirit. BUILDING BLOCKS OF STRONGHOLDS 2 Corinthians 10:5 AMP [Inasmuch as we] refute arguments and theories and reasonings and every proud and lofty thing that sets itself up against the [true] knowledge of God; and we lead every thought and purpose away captive into the obedience of Christ (the Messiah, the Anointed One), Casting down Meaning: to lower, demolish, destroy, pull down, overthrow. Often used of tearing down walls, strongholds, or fortresses. Arguments → logismos (λογισμός, Strong’s G3053) Meaning: reasoning, thought, speculation, imagination, logic, philosophy, or computation. It refers to intellectual reasoning or mental constructions that set themselves up against God’s revealed truth. USE YOUR WEAPONS Ephesians 6:10–13, NKJV Finally, my brethren, be strong in the Lord and in the power of His might. 11 Put on the whole armor of God, that you may be able to stand against the wiles of the devil. 12 For we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places. 13 Therefore take up the whole armor of God, that you may be able to withstand in the evil day, and having done all, to stand. 14 Stand therefore, having girded your waist with truth, having put on the breastplate of righteousness, 15 and having shod your feet with the preparation of the gospel of peace; 16 above all, taking the shield of faith with which you will be able to quench all the fiery darts of the wicked one. 17 And take the helmet of salvation, and the sword of the Spirit, which is the word of God; 1Hebrews 4:11–12, NKJV Let us therefore be diligent to enter that rest, lest anyone fall according to the same example of disobedience. 12 For the word of God is living and powerful, and sharper than any two-edged sword, piercing even to the division of soul and spirit, and of joints and marrow, and is a discerner of the thoughts and intents of the heart. HOW TO CASTS DOWN ARGUMENTS – Identify Lies vs. Truth Measure thoughts, teachings, and cultural philosophies against God’s Word. 1 Thessalonians 5:21 AMP But test and prove all things [until you can recognize] what is good; [to that] hold fast. – Speaking God’s Truth Use Scripture, prayer, and Spirit-led wisdom to confront lies – Bringing one’s own thoughts under Christ’s lordship—refusing to entertain fear, pride, unbelief. – Consistency Over Time renewing the soul is not a one-time event but a lifestyle. Colossians 3:1–3 NKJV then you were raised with Christ, seek those things which are above, where Christ is, sitting at the right hand of God. 2 Set your mind on things above, not on things on the earth. 3 For you died, and your life is hidden with Christ in God. Save Your Soul

3 John 2-4 NKJV Beloved, I pray that you may prosper in all things and be in health, just as your soul prospers. 3 For I rejoiced greatly when brethren came and testified of the truth that is in you, just as you walk in the truth. 4 I have no greater joy than to hear that my children walk in truth. Romans 12:2 NKJV And do not be conformed to this world, but be transformed by the renewing of your mind, that you may prove what is that good and acceptable and perfect will of God. Isaiah 55:8–13 NKJV “For My thoughts are not your thoughts, Nor are your ways My ways,” says the Lord. 9 “For as the heavens are higher than the earth, So are My ways higher than your ways, And My thoughts than your thoughts. 1. THE ONE TRUE WAY TO CHANGE Psalm 1:1-3 AMP BLESSED (HAPPY, fortunate, prosperous, and enviable) is the man who walks and lives not in the counsel of the ungodly [following their advice, their plans and purposes], nor stands [submissive and inactive] in the path where sinners walk, nor sits down [to relax and rest] where the scornful [and the mockers] gather. 2 But his delight and desire are in the law of the Lord, and on His law (the precepts, the instructions, the teachings of God) he habitually meditates (ponders and studies) by day and by night. 3 And he shall be like a tree firmly planted [and tended] by the streams of water, ready to bring forth its fruit in its season; its leaf also shall not fade or wither; and everything he does shall prosper [and come to maturity]. Joshua 1:8 AMP This Book of the Law shall not depart out of your mouth, but you shall meditate on it day and night, that you may observe and do according to all that is written in it. For then you shall make your way prosperous, and then you shall deal wisely and have good success. James 1:21 NKJV Therefore lay aside all filthiness and overflow of wickedness, and receive with meekness the implanted word, which is able to save your souls. 2. BE DOERS OF THE WORD James 1:22-24 NKJV But be doers of the word, and not hearers only, deceiving yourselves. 23 For if anyone is a hearer of the word and not a doer, he is like a man observing his natural face in a mirror; 24 for he observes himself, goes away, and immediately forgets what kind of man he was. 25 But he who looks into the perfect law of liberty and continues in it, and is not a forgetful hearer but a doer of the work, this one will be blessed in what he does. 2 Corinthians 5:17, NKJV Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, he is a new creation; old things have passed away; behold, all things have become new. 2 Corinthians 5:21, NKJV For He made Him who knew no sin to be sin for us, that we might become the righteousness of God in Him. Psalm 107:20 NKJV He sent His word and healed them, And delivered them from their destructions. “Your mind won’t stay renewed any more than your hair will stay combed. You have to keep at it daily.” – Kenneth Hagin 3. CONTROL YOUR THOUGHTS 2 Corinthians 10:4-5 NKJV For the weapons of our warfare are not carnal but mighty in God for pulling down strongholds, 5 casting down arguments and every high thing that exalts itself against the knowledge of God, bringing every thought into captivity to the obedience of Christ, The post Save Your Soul first appeared on Covenant Life Church.

SALT & LIGHT

Acts 6:8–13 NLT Stephen, a man full of God’s grace and power, performed amazing miracles and signs among the people. 9 But one day some men from the Synagogue of Freed Slaves, as it was called, started to debate with him. They were Jews from Cyrene, Alexandria, Cilicia, and the province of Asia. 10 None of them could stand against the wisdom and the Spirit with which Stephen spoke. 11 So they persuaded some men to lie about Stephen, saying, “We heard him blaspheme Moses, and even God.” 12 This roused the people, the elders, and the teachers of religious law. So they arrested Stephen and brought him before the high council.* 13 The lying witnesses said, “This man is always speaking against the holy Temple and against the law of Moses. 1. THE WORLD IS OUR AIM Mark 16:15–16, NKJV And He said to them, “Go into all the world and preach the gospel to every creature. 16 He who believes and is baptized will be saved; but he who does not believe will be condemned. Salt of The Earth Matthew 5:13 NKJV “You are the salt of the earth; but if the salt loses its flavor, how shall it be seasoned? It is then good for nothing but to be thrown out and trampled underfoot by men.” • Salt preserves and prevents decay • Salt adds flavor • If we lose our distinctiveness, our influence is diminished. Light of the World Matthew 5:14–16 NKJV “You are the light of the world. A city that is set on a hill cannot be hidden. Nor do they light a lamp and put it under a basket, but on a lampstand, and it gives light to all who are in the house. Let your light so shine before men, that they may see your good works and glorify your Father in heaven.” Key Meaning: • Light exposes darkness • Light brings hope and direction • Our “good works” are meant to point people to God, not just to ourselves. We are not called to just gather — we are called to go, influence, and transform. 2. OUR MOTIVATION IS LOVE John 3:16–17 NKJV 1For God so loved the world that He gave His only begotten Son, that whoever believes in Him should not perish but have everlasting life. 17 For God did not send His Son into the world to condemn the world, but that the world through Him might be saved. Romans 2:4 NLT Don’t you see how wonderfully kind, tolerant, and patient God is with you? Does this mean nothing to you? Can’t you see that his kindness is intended to turn you from your sin? 3. OUR METHOD IS THE MIRACULOUS Mark 16:17–18, NKJV And these signs will follow those who believe: In My name they will cast out demons; they will speak with new tongues; 18 they will take up serpents; and if they drink anything deadly, it will by no means hurt them; they will lay hands on the sick, and they will recover.” Acts 1:4–8, NKJV And being assembled together with them, He commanded them not to depart from Jerusalem, but to wait for the Promise of the Father, “which,” He said, “you have heard from Me; 5 for John truly baptized with water, but you shall be baptized with the Holy Spirit not many days from now.” 6 Therefore, when they had come together, they asked Him, saying, “Lord, will You at this time restore the kingdom to Israel?” 7 And He said to them, “It is not for you to know times or seasons which the Father has put in His own authority. 8 But you shall receive power when the Holy Spirit has come upon you; and you shall be witnesses to Me in Jerusalem, and in all Judea and Samaria, and to the end of the earth.” TAKE ACTION 1. Repent & Consecrate — Humble ourselves before God, repent where we have been passive, and ask Him to cleanse our hearts. 2. Take Our Place in Prayer — Intercede for our leaders (whether we agree with them or not). Pray for protection over those in public service, over righteous voices, and over every innocent life. Bind the spirit of violence and lawlessness in the Name of Jesus. Stand as Watchmen – Don’t just pray once—stay on the wall. Enduring Love

FOUR KINDS OF LOVE PHILIA = FRIENDSHIP LOVE. Friendship / Brotherly Love Definition: Affectionate love between friends; warm companionship marked by mutual respect, enjoyment, and trust. John 15:13 NKJV “Greater love (phílos) has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.” STORGĒ = FAMILY/AFFECTION LOVE. like the love parents feel for children, or among family members. Romans 12:10 NKJV “Be devoted to one another in brotherly love” EROS = ROMANTIC/PHYSICAL LOVE. – Key Trait: Romantic, passionate, and intimate love. AGÁPĒ – UNCONDITIONAL, DIVINE LOVE Definition: The highest form of love; selfless, sacrificial, unconditional. It seeks the good of others without expecting anything in return. John 3:16 NKJV “For God so loved (agapē) the world…” Key Trait: God’s love toward humanity, and the love He calls us to show others. This Agape love doesn’t just the other kinds of love it empowers them. It brings them to their full potential 1. THIS LOVE IS IN US Romans 5:5 NKJV Now hope does not disappoint, because the love of God has been poured out in our hearts by the Holy Spirit who was given to us. 1 Corinthians 13:4–8, AMP Love endures long and is patient and kind; love never is envious nor boils over with jealousy, is not boastful or vainglorious, does not display itself haughtily. 5 It is not conceited (arrogant and inflated with pride); it is not rude (unmannerly) and does not act unbecomingly. Love God’s love in us does not insist on its own rights or its own way, for it is not self-seeking; it is not touchy or fretful or resentful; it takes no account of the evil done to it [it pays no attention to a suffered wrong]. 6 It does not rejoice at injustice and unrighteousness, but rejoices when right and truth prevail. 7 Love bears up under anything and everything that comes, is ever ready to believe the best of every person, its hopes are fadeless under all circumstances, and it endures everything [without weakening]. 8 Love never fails [never fades out or becomes obsolete or comes to an end]. As for prophecy (the gift of interpreting the divine will and purpose), it will be fulfilled and pass away; as for tongues, they will be destroyed and cease; as for knowledge, it will pass away [it will lose its value and be superseded by truth]. 1 Corinthians 13:6-7 NKJV does not rejoice in iniquity, but rejoices in the truth; 7 bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. 2. BEARS ALL THINGS Greek Meaning: To cover, to protect, to conceal, to endure silently. Word picture: Like a roof that shields from storms. Sense: Love covers over faults, protects others, and carries burdens without complaint. 3. BELIEVES ALL THINGS Greek: To have faith in, to trust, to place confidence in, to rely on. Sense: Love gives the benefit of the doubt, choosing trust over suspicion. It is not gullibility, but a posture of faith in God and in others. 4. HOPES ALL THINGS Greek Meaning: To look forward with confidence, to expect with trust, to wait for salvation with joy. Love looks beyond present struggles, anticipating God’s redemption and the best in others. 5. ENDURES ALL THINGS Greek Meaning: To remain, to persevere, to stand firm under pressure, to hold one’s ground. HOMEWORK – MAKE LOVE YOUR AIM 1 Corinthians 14:1 AMPC Eagerly pursue and seek to acquire [this] love [make it your aim, your great quest]…” – CHECK YOUR LOVE WALK DAILY Ask yourself: – Am I holding anything against anyone? – Am I treating others the way I want to be treated? If the answer was “yes” to offense or bitterness, “Fix it – GUARD AGAINST STRIFE James 3:16 – “For where envying and strife is, there is confusion and every evil work.” strife is one of Satan’s main tools to neutralize faith. Solution: Be quick to apologize, keep peace in the home, and refuse to argue. – SPEAK LOVE WORDS Ephesians 4:29 – “Let no corrupt communication proceed out of your mouth, but that which is good to the use of edifying…” Your words either minister love or poison. Speaking harsh, critical, or bitter words damages your love walk. Practical step: Train your mouth to build others up, not tear them down. “When in doubt, act in love. You’ll never miss it by walking in love.” – CONFESS DAILY: “The love of God is in me. I choose to let that love dominate me today.” The Spirit empowers you to love beyond natural ability. Energized Faith

Love: The Power Behind Faith and Hope Mark 11:22 NKJV So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 1 Corinthians 13:13 NKJV And now abide faith, hope, love, these three; but the greatest of these is love. 1 Thessalonians 1:2–3 NKJV We give thanks to God always for you all, making mention of you in our prayers, 3 remembering without ceasing your work of faith, labor of love, and patience of hope in our Lord Jesus Christ in the sight of our God and Father, Philemon 1:5 NKJV hearing of your love and faith which you have toward the Lord Jesus and toward all the saints, Colossians 1:4-5 NKJV since we heard of your faith in Christ Jesus and of your love for all the saints; 5 because of the hope which is laid up for you in heaven, of which you heard before in the word of the truth of the gospel, 2 Thessalonians 1:3 NKJV We are bound to thank God always for you, brethren, as it is fitting, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of every one of you all abounds toward each other, 1. DON’T FORGET LOVE Galatians 5:6 AMPC For [if we are] in Christ Jesus, neither circumcision nor uncircumcision counts for anything, but only faith activated and energized and expressed and working through love. Galatians 5:6 TPT …All that matters now is living in the faith that is activated and brought to perfection by love. Faith, activated and energized and expressed and working through love. Activated Energized Expressed Working through love 1 Corinthians 13:2 NKJV …if I have all faith, so that I could remove mountains, but have not love, I am nothing. 2. LOVE IS THE NATURE OF GOD 1 John 4:8 NKJV Beloved, let us love one another, for love is of God; and everyone who loves is born of God and knows God. 8 He who does not love does not know God, for God is love. John 13:34–35 NKJV A new commandment I give to you, that you love one another; as I have loved you, that you also love one another. 35 By this all will know that you are My disciples, if you have love for one another.” James 2:8, NKJV If you really fulfill the royal law according to the Scripture, “You shall love your neighbor as yourself,” you do well; 3. UNFORGIVENESS BLOCKS FAITH Mark 11:22–26 NKJV So Jesus answered and said to them, “Have faith in God. 23 For assuredly, I say to you, whoever says to this mountain, ‘Be removed and be cast into the sea,’ and does not doubt in his heart, but believes that those things he says will be done, he will have whatever he says. 24 Therefore I say to you, whatever things you ask when you pray, believe that you receive them, and you will have them. 25 “And whenever you stand praying, if you have anything against anyone, forgive him, that your Father in heaven may also forgive you your trespasses. 26 But if you do not forgive, neither will your Father in heaven forgive your trespasses.” Action step: Practice Forgiveness Immediately. – The moment you feel wronged, forgive. Don’t wait until you feel like it. – Forgiveness is not a feeling, it’s a decision of faith. “If your faith isn’t working, check up on your love walk.” – Kenneth E Hagin 4. FAITH EXPRESSED IN ACTION James 2:17 NKJV Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. James 2:14–17 NKJV What does it profit, my brethren, if someone says he has faith but does not have works? Can faith save him? 15 If a brother or sister is naked and destitute of daily food, 16 and one of you says to them, “Depart in peace, be warmed and filled,” but you do not give them the things which are needed for the body, what does it profit? 17 Thus also faith by itself, if it does not have works, is dead. Matthew 5:44-46 NKJV You have heard that it was said, ‘You shall love your neighbor and hate your enemy.’ 44 But I say to you, love your enemies, bless those who curse you, do good to those who hate you, and pray for those who spitefully use you and persecute you, 45 that you may be sons of your Father in heaven; for He makes His sun rise on the evil and on the good, and sends rain on the just and on the unjust. 46 For if you love those who love you, what reward have you? Do not even the tax collectors do the same? Action Step: – Confess daily: “The love of God is in me. I choose to let that love dominate me today.” – Pray Daily: And this I pray, that your love may abound still more and more in knowledge and all discernment, 10 that you may approve the things that are excellent, that you may be sincere and without offense till the day of Christ, 11 being filled with the fruits of righteousness which are by Jesus Christ, to the glory and praise of God. (Philippians 1:9–11 NKJV) The post Energized Faith first appeared on Covenant Life Church.

Running on Joy | God’s Fuel for Endurance

Colossians 1:9–14, NKJV For this reason we also, since the day we heard it, do not cease to pray for you, and to ask that you may be filled with the knowledge of His will in all wisdom and spiritual understanding; 10 that you may walk worthy of the Lord, fully pleasing Him, being fruitful in every good work and increasing in the knowledge of God; 11 strengthened with all might, according to His glorious power, for all patience and longsuffering with joy; 12 giving thanks to the Father who has qualified us to be partakers of the inheritance of the saints in the light. 13 He has delivered us from the power of darkness and conveyed us into the kingdom of the Son of His love, 14 in whom we have redemption through His blood, the forgiveness of sins. 1. Strengthened δυναμόω (dynamoō)Greek root: δύναμις (dynamis) = power, ability. To empower, make strong, enable, or fill with supernatural strength. This is not natural strength, but a divine impartation from God to equip believers to persevere, serve, and grow in holiness. 2. With all might δύναμις (dynamis) Greek root: δύναμις (dynamis) = inherent power or capacity. Every measure or kind of divine strength available. This word emphasizes the totality of God’s power available to the believer, both for inner character development and for external works of faith. You can rely on God’s complete strength in every area of life, leaving no gap where weakness can dominate. 3. According to His glorious power Manifested power or might in action, dominion, authority. JOY IS NECESSARY FOR ENDURANCE Nehemiah 8:9-12 NKJV And Nehemiah, who was the governor, Ezra the priest and scribe, and the Levites who taught the people said to all the people, “This day is holy to the Lord your God; do not mourn nor weep.” For all the people wept, when they heard the words of the Law. 10 Then he said to them, “Go your way, eat the fat, drink the sweet, and send portions to those for whom nothing is prepared; for this day is holy to our Lord. Do not sorrow, for the joy of the Lord is your strength.” 11 So the Levites quieted all the people, saying, “Be still, for the day is holy; do not be grieved.” 12 And all the people went their way to eat and drink, to send portions and rejoice greatly, because they understood the words that were declared to them. BIBLICAL / STRONG’S CONCORDANCE: Gladness, joy, delight. A state of inner happiness not dependent on external circumstances. Often used in the New Testament to describe spiritual joy that comes from knowing God’s grace, presence, and promises. THAYER’S GREEK LEXICON: The calm delight and deep-seated gladness of the soul that is produced by the Holy Spirit. Not a fleeting emotion, but a settled confidence that God is in control. Opposite of fear, despair, or hopelessness. 1. STAY AWARE OF HIS PRESENCE Psalm 16:11 NKJV You will show me the path of life; In Your presence is fullness of joy; At Your right hand are pleasures forevermore. Action Step: Cultivate this awareness through prayer, worship, and Scripture meditation. Begin your day by pausing and saying, “God, I’m aware You are here with me.” 2. ANCHOR YOURSELF IN HIS WORD John 15:7-11 NKJV 7 If you abide in Me, and My words abide in you, you will ask what you desire, and it shall be done for you. 8 By this My Father is glorified, that you bear much fruit; so you will be My disciples. 9 “As the Father loved Me, I also have loved you; abide in My love. 10 If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love, just as I have kept My Father’s commandments and abide in His love. 11 “These things I have spoken to you, that My joy may remain in you, and that your joy may be full. Action Step: Read Scripture not just for information, but for connection. Mark verses about His faithfulness and promises — revisit them when discouraged. 3. PRACTICE THANKFULNESS 1 Thessalonians 5:18 Rejoice always, 17 pray without ceasing, 18 in everything give thanks; for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus for you. Action Step: Keep a “joy journal” where you write 3–5 things you’re thankful for each day. This trains your heart to spot God’s goodness even in hard times. 4. CHOOSE OBEDIENCE OVER FEELINGS “If you keep My commandments, you will abide in My love… that your joy may be full.” – John 15:10–11 5. SERVE AND ENCOURAGE OTHERS 1 John 1:3-4 NKJV that which we have seen and heard we declare to you, that you also may have fellowship with us; and truly our fellowship is with the Father and with His Son Jesus Christ. 4 And these things we write to you that your joy may be full. Action Step: Joy multiplies when it flows outward. Look for ways to bless, encourage, or pray for others — joy follows giving. Ephesians 3:20–21 NLT Now all glory to God, who is able, through his mighty power at work within us, to accomplish infinitely more than we might ask or think. 21 Glory to him in the church and in Christ Jesus through all generations forever and ever! Amen. The post Running on Joy | God’s Fuel for Endurance first appeared on Covenant Life Church.
