Season 7: Episode 12: Susan Young

To commemorate the Season 7 finale, I have my mum, Susan Young, on!! You are in for such a treat to get to meet the woman who has inspired me, fed me and loved me my whole life! I felt like after 7 seasons it was time to introduce the queen in my life, my best friend, my “momager”, my disco diva! Mum delves into her incredible childhood between Iran, Norfolk and London and how it set her up for life. She goes back to when her mother met her Iranian father at a dance in the 1950s in England, and subsequently moved back to Iran where my mother became quite ill. She was brought back to the UK, had her identity changed and didn’t meet her real father until she was 17!  She reminisces about coming down to London aged 18 to become a Bunny Girl at the original Playboy Club in the 70s, meeting her first Iranian boyfriend and embarking on a career in the antiques and jewellery business. We cover her whole life in food; how she was taught to make Iranian food, where her ethos comes from when thinking about cooking and making delicious meals. We reminisce about the best dishes of my childhood, her gourmet packed lunches and what makes a great home cook. I love my mum so much, and she really is the foundation to my knowledge of food, taste, flavour and cooking. I owe so much to her, particularly my appreciation of eating. And for that, I will be forever grateful. @susanyoung110 @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am beyond excited to announce that I have partnered up with Magimix for this season of Crazy Sexy Food! Season 7: Episode 11: Chris Baber

I met Chris Baber over food - of course - at an amazing party at Nobu full of the best canapes! We positioned ourselves right by the kitchen doors – in the firing line, and now it was time to get him over for a chat! Chris reminisces being a child cooking in Northumberland with his granddad; he was influenced by the greats like Ainsley, Gordon and Rick! He went on to win a cooking competition on the BBC and went to work under Atul Kochhar, the Michelin starred chef in London. He talks about being in a professional kitchen from wearing chef’s whites to prepping food and serving beautiful dishes. Chris really wanted to create a community showcasing his easy and accessible recipes. He wanted to make people comfortable in the kitchen. And we bond over the thinking that food doesn’t need to be complicated. We’re inundated with such a plethora of recipes, particularly on social media, that we have lost the essence of simple home cooking.  His debut cookbook, Easy, demonstrates just how simple but delicious food can be! @chrisbaber @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am beyond excited to announce that I have partnered up with Magimix for this season of Crazy Sexy Food! Season 7: Episode 10: Sabrina Ghayour

I’ve followed Sabrina Ghayour’s career for a while now, and so it was a huge pleasure to finally have her on the podcast. She’s just launched her new cookbook, Persiana Everyday, which was a tough process to write as she wrote it through lockdown, whilst dealing with all the things complexities that have come with the last 2 years. It was also challenging to actually write down the recipes she was creating from her head, and working out measurements but she focuses on simple and delicious recipes that are quick in this book and I can tell you it’s a must buy! She’s not the biggest fan of podcasts so it’s a real honour for her to entrust me with her words and time! She opened up about her childhood and coming to the UK at a young age during the Iranian Revolution and explains that she actually comes from a family of women who did not cook! We dissectPersian food and it’s fundamental flavours and dishes. The influences of the cuisine come from all over to make a unique, delicious and aromatic taste. We talk about the political topic of Tahdig – the crispy rice created in a Persian rice cooker. It can get very tense at the dinner table; people fight over it! I absolutely loved having Sabrina on and it’s been so great watching her success over the years. @sabrinaghayour @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am beyond excited to announce that I have partnered up with Magimix for this season of Crazy Sexy Food! Season 7: Episode 09: Glyn Fussell

I am so happy I have finally met the man himself, Glyn Fussell. And he came to my house. And he loves my granola! The LGBTQ+ trailblazer joined me to talk all about his epic brand and club night, Sink the Pink, co-founding the festival The Mighty Hoopla, and more recently his new podcast and debut book, Manifesto for Misfits. Glyn grew up in Bristol in a huuuuuge family – he’s one of seven! And it was so interesting to hear about his childhood growing up and the nostalgic dishes that take him back to those days. I ask him about the LGBTQ+ community at the moment, whether we’re making progress in the conversation of inclusivity and diversity, and what else needs to be done. Glyn is a total babe! This was a fun loving, somewhat cheeky chat. Season 7: Episode 08: Clodagh McKenna

Clodagh McKenna oozes the most joyful energy, she has the perfect sultry Irish accent, and she came with a signed cookbook for me. What more could you want?! Arriving straight from the This Morning studios, where she’d been whipping up delicious food, the self-proclaimed farmer runs an entire farm at her home in Hampshire. She has it all; animals, fruit and veg and even her own pub! Clodagh reminisces about her idyllic childhood in Ireland running around on the family farm, picking potatoes and we bond over eating raw pastry and pasta as kids – I suggest you don’t try this at home! She dissects how she writes a cookbook, how she creates recipes, the recipe testing process and shooting the book. I don’t think I’ll look at a cookbook in the same way again! We conclude the chat with her telling where the best Guinness is, which in turn leads me to impress her with my Irish accent…. Season 7: Episode 07: Jo Malone CBE

Every now and again I sit down with someone who has a profound effect on me. Jo Malone is one of those people. As the founder of Jo Malone London and Jo Loves, she is the queen of fragrance with her sixth sense of knowing how scents work, and putting different notes together to create some of the best smells in the world. This was an incredibly open and honest conversation, and at times emotional. It was also thought provoking and a lesson into seeing the world in a different way. Jo’s talent also links to her love of food, cooking and the smells of different ingredients and how they play such a pivotal role in her business. Season 7: Episode 06: Ken Hom

I sat down with one of my childhood culinary heroes (and my dad’s!), Ken Hom. He recorded from his gorgeous house in France, where he splits his time between there and Thailand. Ken is one of the most celebrated TV chefs of our generation, bringing the flavours of Chinese cooking to our homes. We cover his life in food; how he got into the culinary scene and why he’s still traumatised from his first ever show on the BBC in the 80s! We both bond over the issues with food waste, how much we love the chilli oil in Chinese restaurants and I think he loves crisps as much as I do – he couldn’t even let me get the whole question out! He dissects Chinese food and explains the different regions, where he eats Chinese food and how it’s evolved over the years and he tells a great anecdote about cooking for Tina Turner! What a guy Ken is! I can’t wait to meet him in person and share some Chinese food with him (he’s ordering). @chefkennhom @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am beyond excited to announce that I have partnered up with Magimix for this season of Crazy Sexy Food! What an honour to have Asma Khan on this week’s podcast. The star – and only British and female chef to be featured on Chef’s Table on Netflix! Asma is a leader in the culinary world; speaking up about women in food, putting women in the kitchen and making space for us! She emotionally opens up to me about writing her new book, Ammu, and how it was a dedication to her mother, the love for her mother but also the acceptance of her mother and how she was loved as a child; through food. She was very generous in how she opened up to me, we both got quite emotional discussing her life and childhood growing up in Calcutta. We recorded 2 days after she had unfortunately shut her restaurant in London; but do not fret! She will be back at a new location very soon! Asma loves a crisp – but loves bagels more! Season 7: Episode 04: Eric Lanlard

I absolutely loved sitting down with my good friend, Eric Lanlard, the French pâtissier extraordinaire. We recorded from his baking school in South West London, Cake Boy, which is the cake emporium you need to know about! Growing up in North West France, Eric knew what he wanted to do since he was 5 years old and signed up to his local patisserie to make sure he was taken on as an apprentice as a teenager. He regales incredible anecdotes from his time working for the French Navy on the battleships, his time in London with The Roux brothers, and he explains the intricacies of patisserie and the scientific nature of baking. It was a pleasure to host Shiza Shahid at my home, the co-founder and owner of Our Place – the cookware brand taking the world by storm. But Our Place is a mere fraction of what this incredible woman stands for. She also co-founded the Malala Fund in 2013, and has fought for women’s rights and the right for education for young girls since she was a teenager.  She is completely in line with my ethos when it comes to food and sharing moments together; the table is for everyone, regardless of who you are or where you’re from. We talk about her childhood growing up in Pakistan during a time where it was becoming very politically turbulent and she opens up about her friendship with Malala and how they have worked together to create and change in the world. I’M BACKKKK!!!!! And it feels so good! Thank you for sticking around this long! How are we onto Season 7 already?! I thought I’d treat you all and kick the season off in style, with the sultry tones of Grace Dent, the restaurant critic, broadcaster and author! I have officially given her the title of National Treasure; a name she is beyond excited to receive. She discusses her show with Ainsley Harriott, Best of Britain by the Sea. They had the best time travelling around the country finding the best seaside resorts, hotels and food; but we do agree it’s difficult to eat fish and chips in London; you have to be by the sea. Grace eloquently talks about her childhood in Carlisle. It was the world of processed, beige food and we reminisce about her time at More! Magazine… those were the days! She really does have the best job! She breaks down what makes a great restaurant; the nuances, what she bases her opinions on but admits that she spends most of her time at Pret a Manger! And we love the same sandwich – posh cheddar and pickle!! We end the chat with the ULTIMATE crisps conversation – we will be friends for life!!! You know what time it is!! @gracedent @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am beyond excited to announce that I have partnered up with Magimix for this season of Crazy Sexy Food! Crazy Sexy Food X Taste Special Series: DJ BBQ

We’ve come to the fourth and final instalment of the CSF X Taste Special Series! It’s been so wonderful sitting down with some of the amazing chefs that make Taste what it is! This week, I leave you with a real BANGER! I’m joined by the man himself, DJ BBQ. He has a new book out, Fire Feasts which showcases everything from BBQ recipes to his grandmother’s desserts to his famous Mac n cheese. The most epic moment happens when he reads from his book and reads off his Return of the Mac n cheese recipe using Mr Morrison’s lyrics. One of the best moments in my podcast career! Not only can he drop a good tune, but he has cooked for some of the most famous people on the planet – have a listen to find out who! @djbbq @crazysexyfood @hannahharley @tasteoflondon www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am beyond excited to be partnering with Taste of London, the city’s biggest and best food and drink festival, for this special 4-part series.  Bringing together some the best restaurants, bars and superstar chefs of London for 5 days of feasting in Regent’s Park; you get up close and personal with some of your favourites at wonderful immersive experiences like the Diner’s Club Cook School, Fire Pit with Food Network and a whole host of masterclasses, wine tastings and so much more.  So, what’s stopping you?! Crazy Sexy Food X Taste Special Series: Santo Remedio

This week I am joined by Edson Diaz-Fuentes and his wife Natalie Feary, the duo behind Santo Remedio. The Mexican restaurants, found in London Bridge and Shoreditch, are bringing the real flavours of Mexico to London. This was a conversation about one of – if not my number one – favourite cuisines! Edson remembers queuing up for tamales in Kindergarten; depicting beautiful memories of his childhood in Mexico City. We discuss how far Mexican food has come over the last 10-15 years in London. We’ve moved from Tex Mex offerings to proper Mexican flavours and tastes.  Mexico is an incredibly biodiverse country with loads of influence from the Spanish, Portuguese and even Lebanese! We talk about their meeting in Mexico, and moving the romantic relationship into a business partnership too! And we have an important conversation about tequila and why I can’t drink mezcal! They tell us what they’re serving up at Taste this year – and my god you’re in for a treat! I’ll see y’all at the front of the queue! @santoremedio_uk @crazysexyfood @hannahharley @tasteoflondon www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am beyond excited to be partnering with Taste of London, the city’s biggest and best food and drink festival, for this special 4-part series. Crazy Sexy Food X Taste Special Series: Genevieve Taylor

Genevieve Taylor is a trooper! She had an injured leg but still went ahead with this recording, opting to lie horizontally throughout the entire episode! I love her! We debate our love for marmite, her idyllic childhood in Cornwall and beyond, and we bond over being inherently greedy women! She gives us some great tips and tricks for BBQing this summer (although we do talk about the fact BBQs aren’t just for summer, but all year round!) Genevieve discusses her bestselling book – Charred, and her new cookbook, Seared, which focuses on the sustainability of meat. She’s been a Taste regular for 3-4 years and we get excited by the famous Taste Fire Pit! The sights and smells make me salivate! I can’t wait to finally meet this talented lady in person come June. @genevieveeats @crazysexyfood @hannahharley @tasteoflondon www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am beyond excited to be partnering with Taste of London, the city’s biggest and best food and drink festival, for this special 4-part series. I am so excited to be partnering with Taste of London Festival as their official podcast this year! For the month run up to this year’s festival (15-19th June!) I will be sitting down with some of the famous faces of Taste. This week I am joined by Taste legend, Vivek Singh, who kindly hosted me at The Cinnamon Club in London. Vivek has been a Taste regular since it’s inaugural year! He talks all about how its evolved over the years and why their relationship is so great. I was invited to join him for lunch after recording, which was such a treat. What a lovely gentleman Vivek is! Season 6: Episode 12: Judy Joo

I can’t believe we’ve come to the end of Season 6! Thank you again for joining me on this incredible journey, continuously supporting and listening to me. Don’t worry – I’ll be back sooner than you think for another bigger and better season! To finish things off, I’m joined by Judy Joo, the Korean chef behind shows such as Iron Chef and restaurants JinJuu and Seoul Bird. She opens up about her childhood in New Jersey, growing up in a Korean household with her mum fermenting kimchi in the family garage and drying chillis on top of the fridge. She discusses the frustration with people trying to understand Korean food, with critics trying to compare it to Thai food in the early days (!) and she explains the difference in chopsticks per each Asian cuisine. My mind is blown! And don’t worry – I ask her the all important question; why is Korean fried chicken is SO DAMN GOOD?!! @judyjoochef @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am so excited to be partnering up with Gorillas again this season! Season 6: Episode 11: Rosemary Shrager

What a character Rosemary Shrager is! Be prepared to laugh your way through this episode with her infectious laugh and wonderful sense of humour! She talks all about her new book – her first novel aptly named The Last Supper and the story behind the story.  We bond over being introverted extroverts (if you can believe that!) and I ask her whether she’s suffered from any prejudice as a self-taught female chef. She opens up about her long-standing friendship with Pierre Koffmann and working under him in his kitchen – and she finds him quite sexy! You heard it here first!!! Rosemary’s beautiful energy and positive attitude to life made her time on I’m A Celebrity a little easier than others. She loved it in fact! And used the experience as a way to lose weight! @rosemaryshrager @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am so excited to be partnering up with Gorillas again this season! Season 6: Episode 10: Jack Savoretti

What a charming chap musician Jack Savoretti is! It had been a long time coming but we finally sat down to talk all about his Italian heritage, childhood family dinners and some of his naughty food vices! He’s currently on tour so we talk all about finally being out there performing live, his new album, Europiana and he opens up about the music industry; the difficulties he overcame, the time he was asked to change his name as it wasn’t “British” enough (!) and he discusses stepping away from the industry. This conversation felt very full circle to me – I was first introduced to Jack in 2012 when I was taken to his concert in Shepherds Bush – close to where I live now! We end the chat realising we may be soulmates – but you’ll need to listen to find out!! @jacksavoretti @crazysexyfood @hannahharley www.crazysexyfood.com Music by @casnova____ I am so excited to be partnering up with Gorillas again this season!
