In this episode, we dive into the Chips n' Caviar debut interview between David Goggins and Aaron Singerman. Recent posts on instagram by David led me down an interesting investigation into the background of this podcast interview, and uncovered some interesting aspects of the Military, US Navy Seals, and workplace culture in general. David Goggins is a Retired Navy SEAL and the only member of the U.S. Armed Forces to complete SEAL training, Army Ranger School, and Air Force Tactical Air Controller training. In his podcast interview with Singerman, he provides his usual unfiltered view of the world, with factual evidence, and debunks some of the myths you may have heard about him. In this episode, we discuss the recent arrest of a Special Forces soldier in Australia, and draw some lines in the sand for people to think about, ponder, and apply in their own workplace, business or life. We do not agree with the public release of the former soldiers details, and we discuss aspects of this in this podcast - but this is not the topic for the podcast itself. What we aim to do in this episode is draw some correlations to the corporate world and workplace in general, and help the audience (you) understand where some lines need to be drawn before catastrophic circumstances happen. Backstory: A decorated former SAS soldier shown in a Four Corners story shooting an Afghan man in a wheat field has become the first Australian serviceman or veteran to be charged with a war crime under Australian law. The former trooper, 41, was arrested by the Australian Federal Police at Jindabyne in the New South Wales Snowy Mountains this morning, after a years-long investigation into alleged war crimes in Afghanistan. In a statement, the AFP said it would be alleged he murdered an Afghan man while deployed to Afghanistan with the Australian Defence Force (ADF). We dive shallow into the Brereton Report, and some aspects of the case, and then walk through some general life type situations that people may come across regarding this type of behaviour. Given that this is an ongoing court case, we cannot comment further. We do strongly advocate for our military veterans, and want to show our support for current and former serving veterans.
