Night And Day- City Confirm 3rd

It’s Official; Derry City is the 3rd best team in Ireland. The good news doesn’t end there either because on Friday we learned that Manager Kenny Shiels (and announced before we hit record Josh Daniels) have extended their contracts with the club. Kevin McKenna joins Andrew Cassidy and Dee Curran in the Supporters Panel to discuss the events of last Friday’s game v Sligo Rovers at Brandywell & look ahead to the game v St. Patrick’s Athletic. We have an interview with Kenny Shiels plus an exclusive interview with Eddie Seydak regarding the Underage set-up, how his job’s success is measured and how the introduction of an U15 Airtricity National League will benefit the club. Europe, Here We Come

Derry City will next season contest the qualifying rounds of the Europa League for the first time since 2014 following the 2-1 victory over Bohemians at Brandywell Stadium. The next target for the Candystripes is to secure their status at 3rd place, which they can achieve with a victory over the visiting Sligo Rovers, who are looking to finish in the top 5. Orlagh Mullan joins us to review the action from the Bohemians game and to preview the Sligo fixture in our Supporters Panel. Topics include whether Derry City are punching above their weight this season, Rory Patterson, Sligo’s transition year and both team’s bid to finish strong. CURTISSSSSSS..... I Mean PATTERSSSSOONNNN

Did you notice that every outlet online that covers League of Ireland football credited Ronan Curtis as the goal scorer of Derry City’s winner v Longford in their 3-2 victory? We know the reason why and he starts the programme by trying to defend himself. Barry Tierney and Paddy Morrison join Andrew Cassidy and Dee Curran to discuss all the talking points from Saturday’s game such as poor defending, poor officiating and the performance of Cristian Castells at the heart of the defence. They also help us build up the match day hype leading to Bohemians at home on Friday, a game if City win will cement their place in European Football in 2017. We hear from the Derry City Centre Back Castells, Midfielder and goalscorer Barry McNamee as well as Kenny Shiels on the programme and we have match highlights from Longford, even if one part of it is tragically wrong. Philip O'Doherty On The #CTID Supporters Podcast

You asked for it so we organised it. Philip O’Doherty sits down with Dee Curran for a conversation based on questions concerning the supporters of Derry City FC. In this conversation Philip talks about his approach towards hiring Kenny Shiels after last season failing to retain Paul Hegarty as Manager, how the European Referendum will affect Derry City’s activity in the transfer market and the league, Orlaith Meenan’s budget and issues involving the Brandywell Redevelopment Project. "In Our Hands"

Derry City’s involvement in the FAI Cup is at an end after two brave performances against current Cup holders and League Champions Dundalk. Now our focus is on the strongest finish possible as we enter the final four games of the SSE Airtricity League. Ethan Barr believes the battle to finish third is “in our hands” as we build up towards this weekend’s game away to Longford Town. We have match analysis from both FAI Cup games including contentious referee decisions such as Horgan’s yellow card in Oriel, the penalty reward in Brandywell and we discuss Ben Doherty, Conor McDermott and Ronan Curtis’ contributions in the tie. "No Rhyme Or Reason"

Derry City has dropped to 4th in the league following a 3-1 defeat to Dundalk and a 2-2 draw v Shamrock Rovers, who leapfrogged the Candystripes on Friday after their victory v Galway United. Kenny Shiels believes Rovers were “lucky” to get away from the Brandywell with a point having played with “no rhyme or reason”. Barry Tierney and Kevin McKenna join Andrew Cassidy and Dee Curran to discuss both games. We look ahead to the FAI Cup Semi Final v Dundalk at Oriel Park on Sunday and our Supporters Panel tries to identify Dundalk’s “Star Player” in the squad, draw comparisons between the current Dundalk team to the Derry City side of 2006 and whether they would risk Ryan McBride for this crucial tie. We have interviews with the manager Kenny Shiels, Ronan Curtis and Aaron McEneff. In Around the League we discuss proposals to start next season’s league in February and Roddy Collins’ need for a filter to shut him up. NOTE: We apologise for the quality of the Dundalk highlights. Due to third party technical issues Drive 105 had to broadcast the match via a telephone line. We apologise for any inconvenience. Continue To Believe

Things are getting tighter in the race for the European spots following results on Friday and Tuesday evening respectively. Shamrock Rovers hard earned point at Dundalk means they are only 2 points behind Derry City with the same number of games played. Derry City go head to head with Dundalk in the League on Friday at Oriel Park followed by Rovers at the Brandywell on Tuesday before a return to Oriel in the FAI Cup Semi Final. Andrew Cassidy and Dee Curran discuss both upcoming league games. On Friday Night the Candystripes were held to a stalemate against Wexford Youths who continue to fight for their Premier Division survival. You will hear Barry McNamee’s post-match reaction and Dee recalls the chances missed and whether or not he feels Wexford can stay up. Return To Wexford (Wrap Up Warm. Trust Me)

If you want to win the cup then you have to beat what’s put in front of you. Last week Derry City swept Wexford Youths to one side in the FAI Cup Quarter Finals at Ferrycarrig Park with a 3-1 win and now face the daunting trip to Oriel Park to face Current League and FAI Cup Holders Dundalk in the semi-finals. Andrew Cassidy and Dee Curran discuss the draw and the key points from the game last Friday including the new interpretation of the Offside Rule, pitch boundaries at Ferrycarrig Park and how Wexford is colder than Bray. Before the recording of the Podcast we learned that Derry City Defender Dean Jarvis signed a one year extension with the club whilst midfielder Aaron McEneff signed a 2 year deal. Andrew and Dee discuss the impact both players have had on the team and what the future lies ahead of them. We would like to thank our contributing donor Drive 105 for their help. Onwards To Wexford

Aaron McEneff tweeted following the stalemate v Galway United a sighting of a “Double decker bus parked in front of the goal”. Joining Andrew and Dee to discuss the game is the returning JP Fahy of Brandywell Pride SC and a first appearance from Barry Davey. On Friday we are off to Wexford for the first of two games there, on this occasion in the FAI Cup and the Panel hope Derry City can avoid a similar outcome to the 2011 Cup Fixture in Ferrycarriag Park. This week Roddy Collins declared that the FAI should do away with the First Division declaring it “an absolute waste of money and time.” Andrew and Dee in Around the League discuss his proposals as well as a previously suggested alternative and we read some of your reactions tweeted to us on the subject before we started recording. Wanna Destroy Rovers In Tallaght

We are back following our short break and during this time so much has happened. Derry City have progressed to the Quarter Finals of the FAI Cup, 4 young players have been offered new contract extensions, Max Karner has signed with the club whilst Jordan Allen has moved to Coleraine on loan and in the League Derry has claimed 4 points out of 6. We discuss all this but more so Liam Hegarty returns to the Supporters Panel to analyse the events of Tuesday night when the Candystripes defeat Shamrock Rovers for the second time this season. We have highlights from that game, the Bray Wanderers game plus the FAI Cup game v Bohemians. We would like to thank our contributing donor Drive 105 for their help. Look for them on drive105.co.uk. Orlaith Meenan on the #CTID Supporters Podcast

In January 2016 the Denis Bradley/Patrick Simpson Review of Derry City FC was published and the review concluded “There has been a failure to attend to the off –pitch life of the club that has resulted in some neglect of important and perhaps even vital aspects.” One aspect noted by many in the consultation was the failure to market the club to the people of Derry and beyond. In April, Derry City FC acted by creating a Commercial & Marketing Manager post. In this our 4th Podcast in 9 days Dee Curran sits down with the Derry City Commercial and Marketing Manager Orlaith Meenan. In this Podcast we will learn more about her role and responsibilities, her long term targets, her initial impressions of how the club was run before she arrived and she answers some of the supporter’s questions on topics such as improving the club’s online presence, improving the match day experience and what plans does the Club have for merchandising? McDermott's Back Pocket

It was a drab performance in the sunshine at Brandywell Stadium on Monday night as Derry City was held to a stalemate with 3rd Placed Cork City. Kenny Shiels felt the Candystripes deserved the victory as does Kevin McKenna who joins Andrew Cassidy and Dee Curran on the Supporters Panel. Up next for Derry City is Bohemians at Dalymount Park in the FAI Cup. The Supporters Panel discuss the possibility of resting Rory Patterson, who to play at the back and whether the bandwagon on its way to “The Dublin Arena” will make a few stops to drop supporters off to attend this country’s premier cup contest. Finn Harps 0 Derry City 5

The North West Derby provided a feast of goals from Derry City running out 5-0 winners away to Finn Harps. Barry Tierney joins Andrew Cassidy and Dee Curran to discuss the points from the game such as Niclas Vemmelund’s passing game, Lukas Schubert’s torture of Ciaran Coll and was the first penalty reward inside the box or out? We build up to Monday’s fixture v Cork City, who has dropped below Derry City following Friday’s draw with Bohemians and a cluster of games in hand. Derry is down to the bare bones at the back but on Saturday it was confirmed Christian Castells has signed as a free agent. Andrew updates us on who he is and if he is match ready for Monday. "Two Points Dropped"

On Friday the League of Ireland enters the final third of fixtures and what a way to kick it off than a final battle at Ballybofey against our North West rivals Finn Harps. So far Harps have claimed 4 points against the Candystripes but can Derry City finally claim that elusive victory? Orlagh Mullan and Paddy Morrison return to join Dee Curran on the Supporters Panel to discuss last Friday’s 1-1 draw v St. Patrick’s Athletic and to look ahead to Friday’s Match at Finn Park. Hear what they think about Ryan Curran, last week’s centre back partnership, Finn Harps SLO’s tweet boosting the Donegal Men are top of the “North West League” and if they agree with Kenny Shiels’ reflection from last Friday that Derry dropped two points v St. Pat’s. In the absence of Andrew, Dee takes a stab of predicting this week’s games in Around the League, we have good news in regard the Derry City Ladies and an announcement on a future podcast. "Missed Too Many Chances"

“Missed Too Many Chances” is how Andrew Cassidy would surmise Derry City’s games v Sligo Rovers in the League and in their EA Sports Cup Semi Final defeat to Limerick. Despite a high percentage of the possession the First Division Leaders qualified for the League Cup Final thanks to Stephen Kenny’s 14th Minute Goal. Ethan Barr joins Andrew and Dee Curran to discuss Limerick’s Game Plan, City’s reluctance to switch to Plan B and to look ahead to Friday’s game v St. Patrick’s Athletic. "Not For The Purists"

Derry City on Friday night secured their second consecutive victory, along with their second consecutive clean sheet, at Dalymount Park vs Bohemians FC however as an entertainment spectacle the match offered very little. JP Fahy of Brandywell Pride SC returns to review the game and mull over the post-match article by Owen Cowzer of the Irish Sun referring to City as “top of the also-rans”. Is he premature in thinking no team can leapfrog Cork or Dundalk into the top 2? The Candystripes face 2 games in 4 days across 2 competitions starting with Friday’s visit to the Sligo Showgrounds. Rovers have improved since their EA Sports Cup defeat at Brandywell back in April and our panel try to pinpoint what has led to the Bit ‘o Red’s resurgence. We have a brief preview looking ahead to Monday’s EA Sports Cup Semi Final v Limerick at Brandywell Stadium whilst reminiscing of League Cup games past, the role the Limerick fans have had in spurring the Blues on in the 1st Division and should the game have been played in a more convenient day to allow for a large travelling support? Back Of The Net

Paddy McCourt has signed for Glenavon following Kenny Shiels’ decision not to continue his pursuit. This decision has split the Derry City Support as to whether this is an opportunity missed or the right decision. Dee reads some of your messages whilst Andrew tries to make sense of some of the speculated claims made this past few days. On the pitch Derry City returned to winning form v Longford Town with a dominant performance. In our analysis we talk about Longford’s lack of shape, Lee Duffy looking disinterested, Dee resisting an “Alan Partridge football commentary moment” and we look ahead to the Bohemians game this Friday. We hear from Midfielder Barry McNamee, First Team Coach Donal O’Brien and Andrew will update us on the U19’s, U17’s and Ladies involvement in the Foyle Cup and League Competition in the last 7 days. Getting Back On Track

As we recorded this Podcast on Wednesday Barry McNamee signed a contract extension with the club until the conclusion of the 2017 season. Dee speaks exclusively to Kenny Shiels about the negotiations with Barry and other players. Kenny Shiels informs us the team has gone through a “mourning period” since the Dundalk defeat but they are ready to take on basement club Longford Town this Friday. Andrew and Dee discuss Longford’s survival hopes, re-jigging the backline in the absence of Ryan McBride and is Red and White Army the most monotonous chant in football?
