Time Code & Show Sync Geek Out @ InfoComm 2019 w/ Alcorn McBride & Medialon
Episode in
DcSoundOp Podcast
In this very special episode, we're back in Orlando, Florida for an after hours hang with some of the pros that keep your favorite shows, rides and attractions running around the world. Brought together by John Huntington (ControlGeek.net) and Jim Janninck (TimberSpring Inc.) this year's discussion is all about time code and show sync throughout the industry.
With more complex shows and systems working together in tandem these days than ever before, keeping things in sync and arriving on time can be critical. You'll hear industry members talk about how they are handling sync within their organizations, for different applications and what challenges they face. The group concludes with a wish list of features they would like to see implemented in future standards, as clocks move more to networks and traditional show sync moves more towards atomic clock accuracy.
The venue, Tiki Bar and a LOT of Egg Rolls were provided by Alcorn McBride Inc with additional support by Medialon by Barco. Thanks to ProSoundWeb for making my trip to InfoComm2019 possible, and to metrotechnical.com for supplying the additional video recorder needed to capture such a long event.

Talking Networking in Pro Audio w/ John Huntington Part 2 of 2
Episode in
DcSoundOp Podcast
Like it or not, networking is here to stay in professional audio & production. While it might have you tearing your hair out at the moment, it really is making a massive difference in how we deal with transporting & managing data on a job site. While we grew up hunting down signal flow problems with a mini-mag light as our preferred analysis tool, these days it’s tools like Dante Controller, Wireshark, Wireless Workbench & a solid ethernet dongle for your laptop that get you out of most jams.
Enter John Huntington, educator, author, practitioner, storm chaser, photographer & all around nice gut to spend a Sunday chatting with.
As networked audio has come into its own in the past few years, the knowledge base he has amassed in building reliable show networks and control systems is an excellent foundation to build from and a must have reference on everyone’s shelf in my opinion.
