As part of our series on making the most of your summer 2021 we invited students to tell us what they did last summer. Stella Ohia is a final year Bachelor Nursing student ( Mental Health) and is currently completing her final internship.  Stella was on her placement last summer and she shares with us the challenges of working during Covid.  Stella explains that she found herself taking the advice she gives to others and began taking more notice on her walks and being more creative with flowers that she picked along the way.  Stella and her friends had 24 hours away in a hotel and she thoroughly enjoyed the experience of being pampered and dressing up for dinner even though it was only for one hour in the restaurant! Stella is also a spoken word artist and plans to continue her passion for this genre.\r\nEpisode recorded 23rd March 2021\n\r\n\r\n\n

As part of our series on making the most of your summer 2021 we invited students to tell us what they did last summer. Eimear Fox final year Economics, Politics and Law student explains how she was initially very disappointed last summer as she had planned to work in the USA and it was cancelled due to Covid. Eimear luckily was able to continue with her part time job as Barista and made a decision to make the best summer she possibly could for herself.  Eimear began learning both French and Spanish and set about exploring her area and meeting friends in different parts of the country on her days off.  Eimear has some great tips for places to visit!  Eimear also explains how she turned her attention to final year and how she is now more involved in DCU clubs and societies life than she was previously.\n\r\n\r\n\n

26: Make the Most of Your Summer: Learn about Sustainability

In this episode, we are delighted to discuss sustainability with Samantha Fahy, DCU’s Sustainability Manager. \r\n\r\nSamantha explains what climate changes mean for our planet and calls on us to make a difference. In particular, she makes a call to action for each of us to assess our own carbon footprint this summer and understand the impact of our daily actions. The conversation is full of simple and effective changes we can begin today and hopefully influence those we live with too.  \r\nSamantha reminds us that political decisions are needed and we can influence action through contacting our local representatives and letting them know that climate change needs their attention NOW!  \r\n\r\nSamantha would be delighted to hear from students who have an interesting sustainability thesis or project and would like to engage with the sustainability agenda in DCU.
