DEMT 05: Mr. Alberta talks entrepreneurship, innovation and diversification – Former Premier Dave Hancock

Dave Hancock was the 15th Premier of Alberta in 2014. He was one of Alberta’s most experienced Cabinet Ministers and had been trusted with many of the province’s most important portfolios over his 16 years as Cabinet Minister and MLA for Edmonton-Whitemud. Dave went into public life to build an Alberta that balances economic strength and social responsibility and knows that getting social policy right is one of the most fiscally responsible actions a government can take.  A thinker and hard-worker, Dave’s approach to government has lead three different premiers to trust him with ministerial roles at the cabinet table and as Government House Leader. Dave grew up and graduated high school in the small Northern Alberta town of La Crete before moving to Edmonton to complete his political science and law degrees at the University of Alberta. After practicing law and becoming a partner with Edmonton’s Matheson and Company, Dave ran for public office and was elected as the Progressive Conservative Member of the Legislative Assembly for Edmonton-Whitemud. In this podcast, interviewers Paul Marc Frenette and Aaleem Jiwa ask Mr. Alberta about a number of topics covering Alberta’s economy, diversification, entrepreneurship, education and innovation. This was an engaging podcast with tons of thought-provoking statements from the Former Premier of Alberta.
