Furnace of the Lord - Ch.17 - O Jerusalem, Jerusalem!

Episode in Didomi
In Autumn 1967, Elisabeth Elliot visited Jerusalem to see for herself if the Israeli victory in the Six-Day War had indeed brought about a ‘new’ Jerusalem, in fulfillment of the Biblical prophecies of the Redemption of the Holy City. What she came away with is an intensely personal account of the city, its monuments, and the suffering of its people. But nonetheless prophetic.  As yet another episode of war rages in the Middle East, Pastor Marwan Aboul-Zelof decided to revisit Elliot's 1969 out-of-print book, Furnace of the Lord: Reflections on the Redemption of the Holy City, record it and share it on the Didomi podcast in the hopes that Elliot's voice speaks to us today, and to help Christians engage in peacemaking in the region and bring about healing, reconciliation and peace. This is the seventeenth and final chapter of her book, O Jerusalem, Jerusalem! You can find all the previous chapters at www.didomi.co

Furnace of the Lord: In Support of the Arab - A reading of Elisabeth Elliot's 1978 Christianity Today article

Episode in Didomi
Christian voices from the Middle East are largely ignored in a time when they should be promoted. It's sad and frustrating, and yet not new or surprising. So, who is a trusted voice amongst Evangelicals? Who can speak to these important issues without having a bias that may hinder their perspective? Elisabeth Elliot. Pastor Marwan Aboul-Zelof reads Elisabeth Elliot's Christianity Today article, published in 1978. Palestinian-Lebanese-American, Aboul-Zelof is the planting pastor of City Bible Church in Beirut, Lebanon. Article: Furnace of the Lord: In Support of the Arabs, Elisabeth Elliot, October 6, 1978.

Africa’s Challenges and Church Response – Interview with Goodwill Shana

Episode in Didomi
What are the main social and political challenges facing Africa? How are the Evangelical churches responding? Are they able to stand up to the pandemic of corruption in Africa? And how can we partner in prayer with the churches in Africa? To answer these questions, Wissam al-Saliby interviewed Rev. Dr Goodwill Shana on the margins of a church consultation in Abuja, Nigeria. Dr Shana is the Founder and Senior Pastor of Word of Life International Ministries, founded in the City of Bulawayo, Zimbabwe, in 1990. Dr Shana serves as the Chair of the International Council of the World Evangelical Alliance and President of the Association of Evangelicals in Africa. Prior, he had served as the President of the Evangelical Fellowship of Zimbabwe. A lawyer by training, Dr Shana provides in this episode a glimpse into his advocacy against corruption in Zimbabwe, where he served as a commissioner on the Zimbabwe Anti-Corruption Commission and as the chair of Transparency International Zimbabwe.
