Symbolism: An evocation of an image as threshold leading to new meaning and a way of communicating that which is not easily said, symbols can be considered living carriers of possibility. In this episode we look at our relationship with symbolism and present work from six contemporary Scottish artist/writers: Shaun Gardiner, Karen Fishwick, Gordon Meade, Chris Kent, Delia Marjoribanks and Kirsty Anne Watters.

Creativity is not a linear process. It often begins without an endpoint in mind. It is fraught with wrong turnings and littered with 'failures', however, it is the journey which is key, and a really useful metaphor to help us when we feel like we are struggling creatively is that we are circumambulating our creative instincts, and this is a fundamental and necessary part of the process. This episode features Aberdeenshire based writer and poet Harry Lowther and Edinburgh based visual artist Marge. This episode also includes a creative workshop and way for you to get involved with Discovery Stage.
