The HTTP project offers a three-fold benefit to the community, with outdated computers being put back to use, schools getting useful equipment for free, and businesses receiving tax write-offs for their donations, Hudson explained. “These were old computers that were sitting in warehouses and garages, but they are not ending up in a dumpster or a landfill. We will take anything that works, anything that powers on and boots up with Windows XP or later on it. And even if it doesn’t work, we will recycle it properly,” he said. While the first PCs will go to Meridian Public School District, plans are to branch out and cover Lauderdale County School District as well, but a project like HTTP could be carried out anywhere where volunteers are willing.
