Do you think social media turns people into jerks?

Ten Arguments to Delete Your Social Media Right Now by Jaron Lanier argues that social media turns people into jerks (he uses more colorful language, but this is a family friendly podcast!). Lanier says that when partnered with algorithms, comparison, and the total lack of actual physical contact, people can just be plain rude on social media. Today, I have interviewed five different people; Jay Comstock, Carrie Comstock, Emma Sobosinsky, Maddox Manning, and Kamryn McClendon and asked them if they truly think that social media turns people, including themselves, into jerks. Here are the five people we talk to:  First~ Jay Comstock is currently living in Carrollton, Texas. He is seventy-four years old and is enjoying retirement. He has been married to his wife Shirley for fifty years now. He has four adult children and four children-in-law. He also has twelve grandchildren. Jay attended Taylor University where he earned a Bachelor of Arts degree in Philosophy and Christ Thought, with a minor in English. Later he received a Master of Divinity at Asbury Theological Seminary and lastly a Master of Science degree from the University of North Texas. Currently he spends his time reading, working outside, and with his friends and family. Second~ Carrie Comstock is a forty-six year old stay-at-home mom with four children. She attended Dallas Baptist University where she earned a Bachelor's Degree in Interdisciplinary Studies as well as a Master of Education in Higher Education Administration. At that university she met her husband Brad, to whom she has been married for nearly 25 years. She homeschools her children. Carrie loves reading, camping, baking, and spending time with her family. She lives in Shady Shores, Texas. Third~Emma Sobosinsky is twenty-three years old and works as the high school girls student director at Valley Creek Church in Flower Mound, Texas. Emma moved from New York to Texas five years ago to attend the University of North Texas, where she received a Bachelors of Interdisciplinary Studies degree in early childhood education with a focus in special education. She spends a lot of her time working at the church, she loves reading, and watching a good Marvel movie. Fourth~ Maddox Manning is seventeen years old and is a student at NCTC through the dual credit program. Maddox is one of seven children and his family has a parenting ministry called Crazy Cool Family. Maddox is heavily involved in his church, Valley Creek. He loves doing anything active like playing sports and skiing. But at the end of the day, he would always rather just be at home. Fifth~ Kamryn McClendon is eleven years old and is currently in sixth grade. She lives in Shady Shores, Texas. Kamryn has two loving parents and a seven-year-old brother. Kamryn is a talented artist and loves reading. She hopes to someday have a career as a veterinarian. She loves spending her time with her brother and friends down the street, playing outside, and with her pets
