Doctor Who: The Naked Scarf

In remembrance of Mary Tamm, Adam, Andi and Stephen look at the search for the 4th segment of the Key To Time. We finally reach the end of The Trial Of A Time Lord and it’s just in time for Adam’s birthday. Because what better way to spend it than discussing how a man in a clown coat has to avoid the machinations of a velvet penguin and a almost, slightly possibly not really future version of himself .

With Andi unavailable due to illness Adam and Stephen take a break from The Trial Of  A Time Lord to pay tribute to Caroline John by looking at the 3rd Doctor and Liz Shaw’s début story. They discuss the limits of the Auton’s plans, the Doctor’s fetish for stealing clothes from hospitals and the dangers of a Simon Le Bon bomb.

As they inch closer towards the end of this ‘epic’ our plucky heroes must face the Freudian nightmare that is Terror Of The Vervoids. Can they survive Pip and Jane Baker without a script editor ? Just what will they think of Mel? Why is Honor Blackman wearing a track suit?  And is this really Murder On The Orient Express in space, or is it strangely closer to a certain long gone British soap opera? To misquote the Valeyard: ‘Stop the Matrix, I want to get off!’

Adam, Andi and Stephen continue their look at The Trial Of A Time Lord and are all incredibly happy to see that even if the legal inquires are yawn worthy there’s nothing like a bearded maniac to cheer up proceedings. When not talking about the lovely lunacy of Mr Blessed, they also tackle subjects such as Sil, Peri’s bald cap and how sometimes when travelling in time and space you just have to throw a corpse or two.

In a break from our planned schedule Adam and Not Andi (or Steve as he prefers to be known) take a trip back to the 90s and look at Virgin’s The New Adventure books. They talk about their influence on current Who, favourite authors, misconceptions, violence, swearing and what exactly is the best way to get this unfortunate taste out of their mouths.

Adam and Andi examine their first 11th Doctor story. They tackle such topics as The Power Of Love, Amy Pond’s true occupation, the career of James Corden and why exactly Andi wouldn’t want to flat-share with the 5th Doctor.

In this ultra special short edition of The Naked Scarf Adam and Andi have a terrifying glimpse of their future and it involves desperately trying to find more than 5 minutes worth of things to say about The Space Museum despite the fact it features one of Andi’s favourite moments in Doctor Who. Rising from the depths come Adam and Andi to look at this watery Third Doctor story. Hear them express their love for Delgado, Pertwee, sword fights and string vest wearing reptiles. As we look at this Tennant Christmas special Andi has some strange opinions on gyrating Cybermen and Adam ponders the problem of awesome things that your gut tells you to love but your head tells you don’t make a lick of sense.

We look at Paul McGann’s only televised outing as the 8th Doctor. Andi gets very serious and refuses to do the plot synopsis and Adam raises the question of whether The Doctor has a case against Grace for medical malpractice.

Andi squeals with delight at the cuteness of some of the Second Doctor’s deadliest enemies, Adam does some appalling accents and we both reference bad RTD episodes far more than we meant to. Also features a cameo by our favourite New Zelander.

We look at this 7th Doctor and Ace confusing classic. Be appalled as Andi explains the connection between Light and The Powerpuff Girls. Be outraged as Adam discusses the importance of attending dinner no matter how many times your host has tried to kill you. On the plus side we’re fairly certain you’ll like our tie.

In this episode we tackle the Ninth Doctor’s first on-screen encounter with the most iconic of Dr Who enemies. Andi reveals her strange taste in imaginary pets and Adam wonders if this should have truly been the last Dalek story.
