I Survived A Shooting: One Year Reflection
Episode in
Dreams, Seams and Small Business Things
A year ago when I was out on my morning run, I was shot by a stranger. The year that followed was filled with trauma and sadness and depression and loneliness. A lot of difficult emotions. But it was also filled with hope and happiness and love and support. I reflect on the year that I've had a little bit and the growth and the excitement for the future. I am so grateful to be here and to be able to tell my story.

When One Door Closes…
Episode in
Dreams, Seams and Small Business Things
In this episode, I talk about rejection and when one door closes, how we have to work really hard in order for another one to open. I also highlight the fact that just because we face one rejection doesn’t mean that things are not gonna work out for us. Usually that rejection is leading us to something bigger and better. I use the example of Victoria Monét and how she was rejected from performing at the MTV VMAs, but recently got seven Grammy nominations! She did not let that rejection stop her she let it empower her to achieve more!

"Why I Don't Support Black Owned Businesses"
Episode in
Dreams, Seams and Small Business Things
In this episode, I'll be discussing a common phrase that I hear which is "this is why I don't support black owned businesses." For some reason Black owned small businesses are held to a different standard than other small businesses. We have to be 10 times better, 10 times more efficient, have 10 times better product. And I just wonder where this mentality comes from? Why are we so hard on Black owned businesses and why do we expect so much when we don't expect it from other businesses? And why is it that when one small business messes up, we rule out other small businesses? I also give some advice to small business owners of how to improve their businesses, so they don't run into this situation, where they have a disgruntled customer that not only stop supporting their business, but other businesses.
