While we drink some coffee we’ll hear from international and local community leaders and super smart business humans on how they buckle down and get the work done. We will not only hear about their successes and wins, but more importantly we’ll hear about the times they blew it, and how they flourished from those experiences.

Ryan Coulter. Step up, Step Back
Episode in
drink the coffee do the work
We’re back this week with Ryan Coulter, a Canadian teacher living in Stockholm. Ryan shares his story of growing up in Kitchener-Waterloo, working in the non-profit sector, and eventually moving to Stockholm to work as a a music teacher. Ryan is an expert in the field of equity; he speaks about how his own experiences as a queer man taught him to know that we can always listen and learn more about others “as-lived” experiences. He gives us some practical tips for how to create more equitable businesses and workplaces, and reminds us to “step up and step back”. We hope you learn as much from this episode as we did!

Carla Beharry On Allyship and Anti-Racism
Episode in
drink the coffee do the work
Carla Beharry joins us on this episode to talk about the WOKE WO/MENS movement. Her organization highlights and promotes the everyday stories that shape and impact the lives of people of colour in our community. Pre-Covid-19, Carla would host in-person events that featured speakers and artists to share their voices and stories. Her business is still heavily involved in coaching businesses how to build inclusivity.
Being a POC Carla takes us through some of her personal stories that shaped her life and how she is using these experiences to push awareness of the daily obstacles to POC that are deeply seeded in our culture. Carla generously shares her knowledge with us on how we can be more effective allies, and how we can better show up for the BIPOC community.
We recorded this episode with Carla last week, in the wake of the murder of Ahmaud Arbery and George Floyd, but Carla has been doing this work for years. We also want to mention that this was recorded prior to the many protests that have erupted across the world, calling for action to stop the violence against black men and women.
Since recording, @carla.beharry @selamdebs and @mraaronfrancis, ACB networking Waterloo with Black Lives Matter Waterloo Region have organized the Kw Solidarity March for Black Lives Matter - tomorrow June 3rd at 5pm. Please visit Carla or Selam's pages for more details, we hope to see you there.

Dave Inglis Part 2: Strategic Solitude
Episode in
drink the coffee do the work
Part 2 of our talk with Dave continues as we dive deeper into what it means to be an Eclectic Millionaire. If you missed last week’s episode, go back and give it a listen. Being an Eclectic Millionaire is about understanding and recognizing the other currencies you value in your life. Some examples: community & connection, adventure & awe, and time. Through Dave’s practice of Strategic Solitude, his clients are able to to recognize these pillars of importance in their own lives by taking intentional time and space to understand their personal truths. For Dave it is less about making massive changes, but rather slight course corrections that will have the biggest impact in the trajectory in our lives.
We have absolutely loved talking with Dave. Given that we are all somewhat under a government mandated Strategic solitude, maybe we could all be taking some time to understand the aspects of our lives that we value rather than money, and how we can start to make those small course-corrections.
