Driving Towards FIRE's Podcast

In Episode 4 of the Driving Towards FIRE Podcast, we discuss Loyalty.   We've discussed other topics that led us to start our journey towards Financial Independence including our student loan and other debt, our willingness to gain more time with each other, and a chance to retire early, but one topic we've not discussed is loyalty.  In today's society, employers seem to lack loyalty to their employees.  We've seen family affected by this first hand.  They spent majority of their lives working for an employer who later decided to move their position to another town 2 hours away offering them 2 options. 1.  commute 4 hours everyday for work.  2.  accept lay-off benefits.   All while they were a couple years out from retirement age.   Gone are the days of loyalty with employers.  You sacrifice so much so often for work only to find out it all can be gone in a moment's notice.   Have any of you had something similar happen to you?  What did you do?   Check out Brené Brown's "Daring Greatly" book.  It's very well written and has so many topics that should resonate with everyone on some level.   Support the show

In Ep.2, we briefly continue last episodes discussion regarding the FIRE Movement while defining the American Dream and what it once meant to us.  We'll also take you through our decision and planning process on what we encountered researching RVs and trucks that ultimately led to purchasing the ones that worked best for us.  Lastly, we'll cover the transition from our 2400 sq ft "sticks and bricks" home to our 300 sq ft 5th wheel RV.   Support the show
