Echo of an Ode
Episode in
Endless Reverberations
Mary is weeping, Pharaoh's army is drowning, the earth is eroding, and the reservoirs are filling. The original a cappella recording used in this episode comes from the Fisk Jubilee Singers. The Jubilee singers were freed slaves who sang for Fisk University, the first Liberal arts college to offer African-Americans an education. The singers are credited with popularizing Negro Spirituals and rescuing their school from dire financial straits. They went on to tour the world and sing for kings and queens. August 20, Arrivals and Questions
Episode in
Endless Reverberations
August 20, Episode 2. An exploration of the arrivals and questions of August 20, through two stories of journeying into the unknown. In one Salman Haider leaves his family and his country to search for freedom and independence. A search made more difficult by the fact that at age seventeen Salman has never once walked out of his door alone before. In the other the first African-Americans also find themselves leaving their homes and their families, however, their journey will rob them of their freedom and independence forever. Our stories are separated by four hundred years, but the greatest thing that separates them is story telling itself. We will never truly know the stories of those first African-Americans, but We have Salman’s story in his own words. Stories of pirate ships, disability and death marches, all connected by August 20. Big thanks to Salman Heather for sharing his story. Also big thanks to Ally Mabry and Jessie Mabry for reading the poem you heard throughout this peace; its called Questions from a Worker Who Reads and it comes from a German poet named Bertolt Brecht. Endless Reverberations is an exploration of the stories that shape us. I want to explore stories of the great events and figures of history, along with the stories that you and I experience every day; because the themes of humanity reverberate through all of our stories. Story telling is a communal activity though, and I can’t tell these stories without your help. You can let me know what you think of the show so far with a rating. Which really helps more then you can imagine. You can learn more about the show at endlessreverberations.com where there are links to the music used in this episode, as well as links to the shows’ Facebook and Twitter accounts. You can email the show at endlessreverberations@gmail.com I would be honored and humbled to hear any personal stories that you would like to share, and maybe we can share your story on the show just like Salman’s. Until next time, remember that all stories reverberate if we listen.

July 20, Capturing and Freeing Sound
Episode in
Endless Reverberations
Episode 1. A journey through the themes of July 20th ; A day that, like every day, holds a story waiting to be told. Our story begins with the father of radio, his mystical belief in the power of sound waves, his complicated role in the Titanic disaster, how he was wrong, and how he was right. His waves bring us to places as diverse as A yacht race in which the boats could not compete with the speed of sound, the first ever recorded voice, which did not come from Edison, (although we will get to him) and the champions of the digital revolution. A journey of sound waves and how they have been captured and set free throughout time. Visit endless reverberations.com to learn more and to keep up with the show. Contact the show at endlessreverberations@gmail.com Big thanks to Firstsounds.org Link for their amazing audio archaeological explorations. Much of the music in this episode comes from Johnny Ripper, who's work can be found at johnny ripper.bandcamp.com Link , Finally my deepest thanks to Dr. Patrick Feaster , who graciously gave me permission to use some of his audio. find out more about his sonic quest to places no one has ever gone before at dust-digital.com
