7 Tips on How to Choose a University
7 tips on how to choose a university.I remember filling in my UCAS form. I applied to Edinburgh, Newcastle, Lancaster, Leeds, Manchester, and Kent at Canterbury. The last option had a year in Jerusalem included in the course but it was deemed too dangerous to go there so I rejected this one., even though it was near my Grandma’s hometown.I had an interview in Manchester - for me the city was too big and we got lost in a one-way system. I decided there and then that it was too impersonal for me! The course focus wasn’t really what I wanted either.I wasn’t sure about Lancaster as this is quite a small place and a campus. Having lived in a small town, I wanted somewhere a bit bigger.Lots of my friends went to Leeds - for me perhaps it was too close to home and I wanted to broaden my horizons.

Present simple v. present continuous
Today's podcast is about when to use present simple or present continuous. My Lithuanian students often overuse present continuous even when they are talking about repeated and habitual actions,This is just a reminder of this grammar. I think the -ing form sounds nicer, plus, students just have to remember the auxiliary ‘be’. It is often hard to remember 3rd person ‘s’ on present simple.Discover this grammar with some personal examples from my own life.

"Don’t cut off your nose to spite your face"
Learn about the meaning and origins of this expression. It sounds quite home-made but I had fun making it. I am just learning (this is my first attempt at podcasting! It was actually more difficult than I thought - we make so many “slips” when we speak. I’ve only edited out when I dropped my pen - it would have hurt your ears even more!Download the vocab here.
