In this emotional episode of Enjoy the Journey, I talk with Covid Survivor, Errol Schroeder, and his wife, Darlene. Errol was in the hospital for 3 months--most of that time in a coma--and in a rehab facility for another month. He was clinically dead for about 6 minutes--and would be dead now, if not for the unyielding devotion of his wife and the miraculous power of God. Doctors, doing what they thought was best, marked Errol as "DNR--Do not resuscitate" without Darlene's permission--leading her to legally fight for his life. His testimony is powerful, inspirational, and shows the power of prayer, a devoted wife, and an all-powerful God. In this episode of Enjoy the Journey, I'm sharing a conversation I had with my mentor and friend, Alan Ahlgrim. This conversation is rich! I've never taken more notes during a podcast conversation than I took during this one! Alan Ahlgrim and his wife Linda have three Christ-loving children and six life-enriching GRANDchildren! He has served as the catalyst for a national church planting emphasis and as president of the North American Christian Convention. He is a two time church planter, leading churches in growth, ranging from 50 - 2,500 in size. Since transitioning in 2013 as the founding pastor of Rocky Mountain Christian Church, Alan has developed a system of soul care for pastors nationwide. My favorite part about teaching at Johnson is: The ability to impart to students skills I’ve gained over my long career in a very practical and relevant way. When I’m not teaching, I love to: Travel, sample my husband’s culinary dishes, practice the piano. In my classes, students can expect: Me to demonstrate musical and worship concepts in a practical way: on the piano or by singing or by helping students craft a good worship song. My best advice to a new student in my program is: Hard work, patience, and dedication to practice and honing your skills will pay off in the long run and will add to your versatility in the marketplace or ministry. Because of my influence, I most want my students to become: Confident with their God-given abilities – to use your giftedness, to respond to a calling in kingdom work, and to earn a living while doing what you love most is a very cool thing to achieve in life. The myth-busting truth about my discipline I most want people to understand is: There are no easy shortcuts to being a complete worship leader and a musician: the deeper you are in the word, the more committed you are to spiritual disciplines, and the more dedicated you are to being the best musician in any setting, the greater your capacity will be for high impact in whatever you do. Jennifer Johnson serves as the Chief Communications Officer at Johnson University in Knoxville, TN, where she leads a small team of artsy people who are more creative than she is.  Before joining the JU team, she owned her own business, See Jen Write, and worked with businesses and ministries around the world to create books, small group curriculum, videos, websites, and marketing campaigns. Jen spent her thirties blogging about faith, doubt, the church, and the idiosyncrasies of Christian culture and compiled those posts into her book, "See Jen Write: The Best of the Blog," in 2018  - she was honored to have Arron write the foreword. She's currently a wife, a stepmom of two young adults, a board member for Orchard Group and Christian Missionary Fellowship, a graduate student, an American Airlines Gold member, a reluctant dog owner, and a big fan of caffeine.
