Alana Alissa Yoshiko Anderson was born and raised in Wahiawa, Hawaii and left the islands behind for a BA from Brandeis University in Waltham, MA with a double major in Politics and English & American Literature and minor in Asian Studies. Upon graduation in 1999, Alana participated in the Japan Exchange Teaching (JET) Program and taught English language to a small town, Hirukawa-mura in Gifu-ken to preschool, elementary, and junior high school students. Alana began her career in the events industry with her first job at the Japan-America Society of Hawaii in Honolulu, HI. After moving back to the East Coast, she continued her events role with several organizations, including non-profits, a for-profit Wall Street conference company, and most recently, as the Director of Events for SNAME (the Society of Naval Architects and Marine Engineers). SNAME moved from Jersey City, NJ in October 2013 and Alana followed to Alexandria, VA in Old Town, where she now resides with her three “fatties” (cats). Alana has an extensive background with over 15 years of event and program management, including sponsorship & fundraising, marketing, speaker recruitment, budget and financial processes in addition to organizing all types of events, from 50 person local meetings to 1,600 person annual meeting & expos.

Liz is an event planning superhero by day, and closeted tech geek and introvert by night. Ashlee Ammons holds a BA in Mass Communications and Public Relations from Baldwin Wallace University in Berea, Ohio. In college, in addition to being elected Class President, she was involved in a handful of other academic and social extracurricular activities including Delta Zeta Sorority and Varsity Cheerleading. Notably, Ashlee was hired as the 1st intern to NBA Star LeBron James. Currently residing in New York City, Ashlee has established a career as an Events Producer working with an impressive list of A- Listers including Oprah Winfrey, Leonardo DiCaprio and Jay-Z. For as long as I can remember, I’ve always wanted to run my own business and be my own boss. Every time I was leaving one law job for another, I would always brainstorm new business ideas and event planning was one I always kept coming back to (thank goodness I didn’t decide to go to pastry school!). When I planned my own wedding in 2012, that pretty much sealed the deal and I knew that event planning and wedding planning was THE job for me. So I did what any good lawyer would do and took a course in wedding and event planning. About a year after my wedding, and after an almost decade-long career as a commercial real estate attorney, I decided to make it official and combine my love of spreadsheets and my desperate need for a creative outlet into a new career as an event planner. The result is Color Pop Events – a New York City-based full-service event planning company specializing in vibrant, charming, and bold events for a wide variety of clients. Angie Nevarez is the owner and principal planner of the New York City based company BATON. Angie began her career 15 years ago in advertising at MTV Networks. Working for Creative Edge Parties, she produced an average of 150 events per year, giving her the opportunity to work in nearly every venue in the tri-state area. As the Director of Special Events at the New Museum of Contemporary Art, she spent 5 years overseeing annual multi-million dollar galas, a new building opening and countless exhibition openings. Since focusing full time on BATON she has done events in New York, Mexico, Sea Island and the Bahamas to name a few.
