Murdock is a host on Warm Showers in one of the most remote sections of the Pacific Coast route - nestled just off the shoreline next to his office, a United States Forest Service fire station. Murdock has worked in wildland firefighting for nearly 30 years and has called Big Sur home for over a decade. Since moving there, he’s opened his beautiful home to over 250 cyclists traveling along the Pacific Coast, just like I was last year. Not only is Murdock incredibly generous and a great guy to chat with, he is a big 49ers fan with memorabilia throughout his home - no warmer welcome than that! Mike was born in Zimbabwe and grew up in the Netherlands. He has spent well over a decade helping make the roads of London safer. How does he do it? He simply records infractions from his bicycle on his commute to work and sends the files to the police. He has amassed a following of over 100,000 people on YouTube through his advocacy for safer roads. Due to the nature of his content and busting people who are breaking the law, he’s received criticism but largely he has the support of the general public for helping make roads safer and encouraging drivers to focus on the road ahead.
